Rebels vs. Falcons Gameday
The UNLV Rebels visit the Air Force Falcons on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM ET on CBS Sports Network. This Week 7 Mountain West matchup features two teams riding three-game winning streaks.
Dan Mullen’s Rebels are 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. UNLV enters after knocking off previously unbeaten North Dakota State at home.
The Rebels have won two of their three road games this season.
UNLV brings the more established passing attack, but Air Force’s option offense creates a demanding defensive assignment.
Troy Calhoun’s Falcons are 4-1 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West play. Air Force has won two of its three home games.
The Falcons have recovered from their only defeat with three consecutive victories. Their disciplined offensive approach has helped them regain momentum in the conference standings. Saturday offers a chance to challenge UNLV’s position near the top of the Mountain West.
It’s Week 7, UNLV Rebels vs. Air Force Falcons, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Falcons Stats
Air Force has scored 144 points through five games, averaging nearly 29 per contest. The Falcons have rushed for 1,628 yards, averaging better than 325 per game. Their passing attack has produced only 372 yards.
The Falcons rank among the nation’s leading rushing teams. Their option offense depends on precise blocking, clean exchanges and disciplined execution.
That approach presents problems for opponents that lose track of their defensive assignments.
Air Force can control long stretches of a game when opponents fail to disrupt its rushing attack.
The Falcons have allowed 87 points through five games. Their defense has recorded seven sacks and four interceptions.
Air Force rushed for 439 yards against Northern Illinois. The Falcons have also gone 366 offensive plays this season without a fumble.
Quarterback Liam Szarka is out for the season with a leg injury. His absence removes an important rushing threat from the option attack. Calhoun needs his available backs and offensive linemen to maintain their timing against UNLV.
Rebels Stats
UNLV has scored 138 points through six games, averaging 23 per contest. The Rebels have produced 1,149 passing yards and 1,069 rushing yards. Their offensive output has varied considerably depending on the opponent.
Jai’Den Thomas leads the ground game with 495 rushing yards and two TD’s. He has also caught 14 passes for 115 yards.
Thomas gives UNLV a dependable option as both a runner and receiver.
The Rebels have allowed 125 points through six games. Their defense has been more effective when opponents cannot consistently establish the run.
Taz Reddicks leads the receiving corps with 280 yards and two TD’s. His ability to stretch coverage gives UNLV another option beyond its ground attack.
UNLV must account for Air Force’s multiple rushing threats without overcommitting defenders. That requires disciplined tackling and proper positioning throughout the game. Mullen cannot afford repeated assignment mistakes against an offense designed to exploit them.
Rebels vs. Falcons QB Matchup
Air Force is adjusting to life without Liam Szarka, who suffered a season-ending leg injury. Szarka threw for 296 yards and one TD in four appearances. He also rushed for 391 yards and seven TD’s. Evan Medders is expected to direct the Falcons’ offense. He has attempted seven passes for 47 yards and one TD this season. His ability to execute the option will matter considerably more than his passing statistics.
UNLV QB Jackson Arnold has thrown for 1,140 yards through six games. He has eight TD passes against one interception. His ball security has been one of the Rebels’ offensive strengths. Arnold has completed 87 of 149 passes this season. He gives UNLV considerably more flexibility when defenses concentrate on stopping the run.
Air Force will test his patience by limiting opportunities for quick scoring drives.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Medders faces the challenge of replacing an established dual-threat quarterback. Arnold enters with considerably more experience directing a conventional passing attack.
UNLV reserve Anthony Orji has attempted five passes for nine yards. The Rebels are expected to continue relying on Arnold as their primary quarterback.
Air Force needs Medders to make clean reads and avoid putting the offense behind schedule. Arnold must recognize defensive coverage without forcing unnecessary throws. Each quarterback’s ability to protect possession will be important in this matchup.
UNLV Rebels vs. Air Force Falcons bottom line: Air Force’s rushing attack challenges UNLV’s defensive discipline, while the Rebels have the more experienced quarterback and greater passing flexibility.

- After a win, UNLV holds a 22-8 record in their last 30 games.
- Air Force has been perfect as a Favorite, winning all 6 of their last games in this scenario.

- At home, Air Force has a 19-11 record over their last 30 games.
Rebels Falcons Free Pick: Under 47.5
Here is my Rebels Falcons free pick: I’m betting Under 47.5. Air Force is built to shorten games, and UNLV has gone under in five of six contests. Neither team needs to turn Saturday into a track meet to win.
The Falcons have not fumbled this season, which matters when we’re looking to avoid cheap points off short fields. Their deliberate offensive approach also puts a premium on every possession.
Forty-eight points is a demanding target when the clock keeps moving.
Air Force can take seven minutes off the clock and leave the scoreboard exactly where it started.
UNLV has already played several low-scoring games, and the Rebels have no reason to abandon a patient approach on the road. I expect both coaches to value field position rather than gamble on unnecessary fourth downs.
One defensive touchdown could hurt this bet, but that’s a risk with any total. I’m looking for a game where long possessions and limited scoring chances dictate the result. If the Falcons keep the football on the ground and UNLV avoids handing away easy points, the offenses will have fewer opportunities to reach the number.
Under 47.5 is my play, and I’m comfortable letting these teams use up the afternoon.
