BYU is coming off its first loss, and I expect a much sharper effort in Provo. The Cougars have the defense to force long third downs, and that spells trouble for an offense still sorting out who’s running the show.
Provo is a lousy place to solve a QB problem, especially against a top-10 opponent looking for payback.
The Sun Devils have surrendered 53 and 55 points in 2 of their recent losses. BYU doesn’t need that kind of explosion, but the Cougars should have opportunities to build a comfortable lead.
The concern is BYU’s injured backfield. Still, Bear Bachmeier has enough weapons to keep the chains moving, and Arizona State has struggled to stop opponents when games get away from them.
