2020 Football Preview – Mountain West – Cowboys
Looking for 2020 Wyoming Cowboys predictions? The Cowboys went from being 6-6 in 2018 to being 4th in a highly competitive conference at 7-5 in 2019 and earning themselves a bowl game. This was quite a solid season with much of their success being based on a great defense. In the 2019 season the Wyoming Cowboys did go to the Arizona Bowl where they beat Georgia State 38-17. Now the question is whether or not they can build on their great 2019 season in what will once again, be a very competitive division.

2020 Wyoming Cowboys Preview
This Wyoming Cowboys team was awesome on defense last year and despite losing some key pieces, they may be able to continue a high level of play on that side of the ball if Jay Sawvel and co. can find some diamonds in the rough in the 2020 recruiting class.
Despite the division losing Jordan Love I still see a highly competitive landscape in the 2020 Mountain-West with Wyoming likely chasing Boise State and Air Force at the top of the division. There are some question marks surrounding both of those programs, so it is not impossible to imagine a scenario with Wyoming in the mix should those programs not turn out to be nearly as good as last year.
2020 Wyoming Cowboys – How to replace those linebackers?
The Cowboys lost Cassh Maluia and Logan Wilson to the NFL Draft with the former being selected by the Bengals all the way up in the 3rd round. That type of talent does not come around every year in Laramie, so coming up with some kind of plan to fill that void will be of the highest importance for the Cowboys in 2020.
Chad Muma will be the one Bohl and Swevel look towards to be the boss of the defense and he looks like a guy who can help maintain a solid level of linebacking play in 2020 as he had 51 tackles and a sack even with the presence of two NFL linebackers starting ahead of him.
The Cowboys also lost another key piece on defense with Alijah Halliburton graduating and moving on from the program. Despite going undrafted Halliburton was critical for the defense in 2019 as he led the team in tackles with 130 from the safety position. This might turn out to be the biggest worry for the Cowboys heading into 2020 with no clear replacements sticking out at this early stage of the off season.
2020 Wyoming Cowboys Predictions: Team Strengths: Still the defense
I still think this team will come into the 2020 season with the smash-mouth type of mentality that they played with last year and although the Wyoming offense was decent at times last year it wasn’t exactly electric. Look for Wyoming to win, or lose, their games in 2020 in close and low scoring fashion as they look to stifle opposing offenses and run the ball with Xazavian Valladay.
2020 Wyoming Cowboys Predictions: Team Weaknesses: Offense
With question marks at the QB position and not a single receiver coming anywhere close to the 500 yard reviving mark the weakness of this team will remain on the offensive side of things. Yes Valladay was great last year with nearly 1500 all purpose yards, but he was seemingly the only dynamic option they had on offense. Despite running the ball well they did not end up being able to translate that ground dominance into any semblance of a passing attack and I once again see them having problems moving the ball in 2020.

2020 Wyoming Cowboys Prediction: 3rd in the Mountain West & a 6-6 record (Bet Now at any of our Reviewed Online Sportsbooks!)
I think they land right on the 6 that is being offered by the bookies as there are still some weak teams in the division for Wyoming to beat up on and I think they get the better of the Utah State Aggies in 2020 with their giant void at QB. I also think they might be able to pick up an unexpected win with their style of play taking the air out of the game possibly lulling one of their better opponents to sleep.
If you are looking to get action on the Wyoming Cowboys this year I would lean to the under as I see it being far more likely they land on 5 wins as opposed to getting to 7.
