Saturday, February 26th the Brooklyn Nets play the Milwaukee Bucks for the third of four scheduled meetings this season. Milwaukee won both prior contests on October 19th (127-104) and January 7th (121-109) and the last game will occur on March 31st in Brooklyn.
The Nets returned from the break and got walloped 129-106 by the Celtics while the Bucks have been off since before the break when they lost 120-123 to the 76ers on February 17th.
Last season the clubs played three times with Milwaukee coming out on top in two of the three contests. The Bucks hold the all-time record having bested the Net in 106 of their 181 matches
Brooklyn Nets
While many believe the addition of Ben Simmons could be a better fit than James Harden and make the Nets even more dangerous while upping their defensive capabilities the question is how soon the team can get the new Big 3 on the court.
More specifically, where they’ll be seeded once the trio is healthy and whether New York will change their vaccination protocols to allow Kyrie Irving to play in more than eight games to close the season.
If not, and the Nets continue to lose they might be forced into a play-in situation. Entering this match they sit eighth, two games back of the Raptors who they’ll play twice in the next four days, and with this Bucks match, three games in four nights.
Perhaps more precarious is the fact the Hornets and Hawks are right on their heels trailing by 1.5 and 2.5 games respectively. While Durant is said to be nearing a return the Nets can’t get him back soon enough.
Aside from this critical trio of contests, the Nets have a brutal schedule segment with the Heat, Celtics, Hornets, and 76ers on tap after the back-to-back set versus the Raptors.
Goran Dragic (conditioning) is doubtful to play Saturday versus the Bucks. Ben Simmons (conditioning), Kevin Durant (knee), and Joe Harris (ankle) are all out indefinitely.
Milwaukee Bucks
While most teams returned to the hardwood on Thursday or Friday, the reigning champions got an extended break with this their first game back meaning they had more than a week off.
Milwaukee has 22 games remaining to close out the season and the most difficult strength of schedule of all 30 teams. Given they also have a healthy Giannis Antetokounmpo it’s likely they aren’t sweating that fact.
As for that schedule, they face the toughest set of opponents with a cumulative win percentage of 55.4%. On the bright side, they have only three sets of back-to-backs left and play just two games where they’ll have a rest disadvantage.
Conversely, if they have designs on nabbing the top seed they’ll need to accomplish that feat while playing the most games against the league’s top teams.
Specifically, 16 of the 22 games are against the top-eight seeds, (11 against the top-five) and only two of the other six opponents are definitely lottery-bound (Thunder, Pistons).,
Grayson Allen (hip), George Hill (neck), and DeAndre Bembry (thumb) are all questionable to play Saturday versus the Nets. Pat Connaughton (hand) and Brook Lopez (back) are out indefinitely.

Since Giannis has arguably the most competitive spirit in the NBA I’d bank on Milwaukee being focused and ready and taking great delight in helping keep the Nets stuck in eighth.
With Kyrie playing I toyed with taking the Nets and the points but Giannis tends to feast against Drummond so opted for Milwaukee to win and cover.
