07-01-17 | Yankees +115 v. Astros | Top | 6-7 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 18 m | Show |
Yankees Brett Gardner provided the New York Yankees with a major jolt and attempts to follow up a strong performance when the New York Yankees visit the Houston Astros on Saturday. Gardner belted a grand slam and matched his career high of six RBIs as New York cruised to a 13-4 victory in Friday's opener of the three-game series. PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH Jordan Montgomery (6-4, 3.53 ERA) vs. Astros RH Francis Martes (2-0, 5.51) Montgomery will be looking to win his fifth consecutive decision and continue his strong early-season performance. The 24-year-old rookie stymied the Chicago White Sox in his last turn as he gave up one run and five hits over seven innings. Montgomery lost to the Astros on May 12, when he gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings while serving up a three-run homer to former Yankee Brian McCann. Martes won his first two major-league starts but struggled in his third but escaped with a no-decision against Seattle on Sunday. The 21-year-old was pulled after surrendering two runs, two hits and four walks over two innings versus the Mariners. Martes has registered 16 strikeouts in 16 1/3 frames but has experienced control issues with 11 walks. Yankees are 4-1 in Montgomerys last 5 starts. Astros are 1-4 in their last 5 home games vs. a left-handed starter. |

06-28-17 | Cardinals v. Diamondbacks -132 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -132 | 9 h 11 m | Show |
D’Backs The D-backs (50-28) will look to capture the three-game series when they face the Cardinals (35-41) in Game 2 on Wednesday night. Arizona trailed 5-2 entering the eighth inning Tuesday before extending its franchise-best start with two runs in the eighth, a David Peralta homer leading off the ninth, and more Chris Herrmann heroics in the 10th. Arizona, the third team to 50 wins this season, will attempt to maintain that momentum when Zack Godley faces two-time Cy Young Award runner-up Adam Wainwright on Wednesday. Only the Houston Astros (52) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (52) have more wins. Godley, who joined the rotation after Shelby Miller sustained a season-ending elbow injury, is 3-1 with a 2.53 ERA. He has not given up more than three runs in any of his nine starts and has not given up more than two runs in his four starts at Chase Field. He has made seven quality starts in his past eight outings, missing by an out of an eight-game streak after pitching 5 2/3 innings in a 5-1 victory at Philadelphia on June 17. Cardinals are 3-12 in their last 15 road games vs. a right-handed starter. Diamondbacks are 5-0 in Godleys last 5 starts. Cardinals are 0-6 in their last 6 games with Reyburn behind home plate.

06-27-17 | Mets v. Marlins -150 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 5 h 12 m | Show |
Marlins The Miami Marlins and New York Mets have played 200 games in south Florida, and each team has won 100. That tie will be broken this week when the Marlins (34-40) host the Mets (34-41) for three games between National League East rivals starting Tuesday. The Marlins-Mets series starts with a battle of right-handers: Miami's Dan Straily (5-4, 3.43 ERA) and New York's Robert Gsellman (5-5, 6.04). Straily has two career appearances against the Mets and is 0-1 with a 4.22 ERA. Earlier this season, he got a no-decision against New York, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Overall, though, Straily has been Miami's most consistent starter this year. But he will face a Mets lineup that has hit 46 homers in June, a franchise record for any month. With Gsellman on the mound, there's a good chance baseballs will be sailing. He gave up just one homer last year but has allowed 13 this year. And in his past two starts, Gsellman has allowed a whopping 15 runs in 9 1/3 innings. In three career starts against the Marlins, Gsellman is 1-1 with a 6.14 ERA with four homers in 14 2/3 innings. Mets are 0-4 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Marlins are 11-3 in their last 14 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. |

06-27-17 | Cubs v. Nationals -164 | Top | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 5 h 8 m | Show |
Nationals A potential playoff matchup is one term being used to describe the series this week at Nationals Park between the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs and the first-place Washington Nationals. The Cubs (39-37) are just 17-21 on the road after holding on for a 5-4 win over the Nationals on Monday. Maddon hopes his team can get healthy in time for second half of the season. Tuesday could also be the best pitching matchup of the four-game set. Washington right-hander Max Scherzer (8-5, 2.09 ERA), who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of his last start, will face Chicago right-hander Jake Arrieta (7-5, 4.36). Scherzer is 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA in five career starts against the Cubs. Cubs are 1-7 in their last 8 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game. Nationals are 5-1 in Scherzers last 6 starts with 5 days of rest. Home team is 16-5 in Vanovers last 21 games behind home plate vs. Washington. |

06-23-17 | Brewers -105 v. Braves | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -105 | 7 h 1 m | Show |
Brewers Eric Sogard and the Milwaukee Brewers continue to stand out as a few of baseball’s biggest first-half surprises, and they look to stay on top of the National League Central as they begin a three-game series Friday against the host Atlanta Braves. Sogard collected three hits and scored twice in Thursday’s 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh, raising his average to .366 since joining Milwaukee, which is 7-3 in its last 10 games as it starts a six-game road trip. PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Jimmy Nelson (5-3, 3.28 ERA) vs. Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (4-5, 4.26) Nelson makes his 15th start of the season after firing the first complete game of his career, a victory over San Diego on Sunday in which he gave up one run and six hits while registering 10 strikeouts. The 28-year-old led the NL with 16 losses a year ago but has allowed fewer than two earned runs in five of his last nine turns, recording double-digit strikeouts three times while posting a 2.24 ERA. Foltynewicz rebounded from a rough outing by holding Miami to two runs and seven hits in six innings, but he settled for a no-decision six days after surrendering eight runs in 3 1/3 frames against Washington. The 25-year-old started June with a 14-inning scoreless streak over his first two outings and owns a 3.86 ERA this month. Foltynewicz suffered a loss at Milwaukee on April 30, when he yielded four runs - one earned - and four hits in six innings. Brewers are 5-1 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a losing record and are 6-1 in Nelsons last 7 starts after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game. Braves are 2-8 in Foltynewiczs last 10 starts vs. National League Central.

06-20-17 | Giants v. Braves -111 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -111 | 6 h 38 m | Show |
Braves The times continue to be tough for the San Francisco Giants, who enter Tuesday’s matchup at the Atlanta Braves looking to break a seven-game losing streak as the National League West cellar dweller continues to search for answers. The Giants dropped Monday's opener of a four-game series 9-0, their 15th loss in the past 20 games, and the San Francisco offense managed just four hits while being held to two runs or fewer for the ninth time in the past 20 games. PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Matt Moore (2-7, 6.00 ERA) vs. Braves RH Julio Teheran (6-4, 4.86) Moore is 0-3 in his past six starts, posting a 6.47 ERA and .318 opponents’ batting average as the Giants have lost five of those six contests. He struck out seven in three innings Thursday at Colorado, giving up eight runs on 11 hits (both season highs) in getting a no-decision. Moore, who makes his first career appearance against Atlanta, has been dreadful away from home in going 0-4 with a 9.24 ERA. Teheran seemingly has figured out the new SunTrust Park, allowing one earned run in 12 innings across his past two home starts after giving up 26 runs in his previous four outings at home. He beat the Nationals on Wednesday in Washington, surrendering two runs on six hits in seven strong innings to win his third consecutive decision. Teheran is 2-2 with a 3.99 ERA in five career starts against the Giants. Giants are 1-9 in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a losing record and are 1-8 in Moores last 9 road starts. Braves are 9-2 in their last 11 vs. National League West are 4-0 in Teherans last 4 starts. |

06-14-17 | Mariners v. Twins -131 | Top | 6-4 | Loss | -131 | 7 h 18 m | Show |
Twins Ervin Santana won seven games in each of the past two years, a total he surpassed in his last start after tossing his third shutout of the young season. Santana goes for his ninth win -- and first at home since May 2 -- when Minnesota continues its four-game series against the visiting Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night. The Twins may need another big game from Santana after using up nearly a week's worth of offense Tuesday night, setting a franchise record with 28 hits in a 20-7 drubbing of Seattle. Santana threw a four-hit shutout at Baltimore last time out to go along with a two-hitter and a one-hitter over his last 11 starts. Like the Twins, Santana has been vulnerable at Target Field with a 3-2 record and 2.63 compared to his mesmerizing 5-1 mark and 1.71 ERA away from home. Mariners are 1-6 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Twins are 7-1 in Santanas last 8 starts vs. a team with a losing record. Twins are 4-0 in their last 4 games with Gibson behind home plate. |

06-09-17 | Brewers v. Diamondbacks -130 | Top | 8-6 | Loss | -130 | 9 h 58 m | Show |
D’Backs The Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the majors' biggest surprises this season due in large part to their franchise-best start at home. The Diamondbacks vie for their fourth straight victory overall and 10th consecutive at Chase Field on Friday when they open a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Arizona improved to 24-8 at home after outscoring San Diego by a 32-9 margin en route to a three-game sweep, with Chris Iannetta belting a two-run homer to highlight his career-high seven-RBI performance in Thursday's 15-3 rout. PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Zach Davies (6-3, 4.69 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Randall Delgado (1-1, 3.24) Davies improved to 6-2 with a 3.09 ERA in his last eight starts after scattering three hits over six innings in a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 24-year-old Arizona native struck out six in that contest, matching the sum total of his three previous outings. Davies recorded a quality start against the Diamondbacks on May 25, but he permitted two homers and three runs total in six innings and received zilch in terms of run support in a 4-0 setback. Delgado sustained a hard-luck loss in his last outing on Saturday, as he allowed just one run on six hits in 5 1/3 innings in a 3-0 setback at Miami. While the result was not desired, the 27-year-old has posted a 1.80 ERA and struck out 15 batters in as many innings (three starts) since joining the rotation in place of fellow right-hander Taijuan Walker (blister). Brewers are 1-4 in Davies' last 5 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Diamondbacks are 7-1 in Delgados last 8 home starts.

06-09-17 | Orioles v. Yankees -140 | Top | 2-8 | Win | 100 | 7 h 54 m | Show |
Yankees The New York Yankees bashed their way to a series win over the Boston Red Sox this week, ensuring themselves a position atop the American League East. The Baltimore Orioles will try to make the gap a little tighter when they visit the Yankees for the opener of a three-game series on Friday. New York dropped the series opener to the Red Sox before winning the next two by a combined 17-1 as the baby bombers stepped up. Gary Sanchez was last season's slugging rookie sensation in the Bronx before ceding that distinction to Aaron Judge in 2017, but Sanchez showed he is still worthy of plenty of praise when he bashed a pair of home runs and drove in five in Thursday's 9-1 triumph. The Orioles have a lineup capable of bashing plenty of home runs but dropped a 6-1 decision to the Washington Nationals on Thursday as an injury to Manny Machado and a day off to rest for Adam Jones left the team without the pop to compete. The Orioles will try to put themselves in a better position on Friday, when Dylan Bundy takes the mound opposite Jordan Montgomery. PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Dylan Bundy (6-4, 2.93 ERA) vs. Yankees LH Jordan Montgomery (3-4, 3.67) Bundy suffered the loss in three of his last four starts and is coming off his shortest stint of the season. The former No. 4 overall draft pick allowed two runs and four hits in five innings on Saturday and ended up with the loss as Baltimore went on to fall 5-2. Montgomery has been a solid addition to the Yankees rotation and snapped a four-start winless streak by holding the Toronto Blue Jays scoreless on three hits in six innings on Saturday. The 24-year-old, has given up just one homer in the last three games. Orioles are 1-4 in Bundys last 5 starts. Yankees are 37-14 in their last 51 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. |

06-06-17 | Cardinals -123 v. Reds | Top | 1-13 | Loss | -123 | 7 h 56 m | Show |
Cardinals Adam Wainwright has allowed just one run while winning four consecutive starts and aims to keep his hot streak going when the St. Louis Cardinals visit the Cincinnati Reds for the second contest of their four-game series on Tuesday. Wainwright has given up just 16 hits in 26 1/3 innings during the stretch after posting a 6.37 ERA through his first seven starts. PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Adam Wainwright (6-3, 3.79 ERA) vs. Reds RH Tim Adleman (3-2, 4.89) Wainwright blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers on four hits over six innings in his last turn and also belted a two-run homer for the game's only runs. Counting the final 3 1/3 frames of his win over San Francisco on May 21, the 35-year-old has tossed 16 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings. Wainwright is 9-10 with a 4.55 ERA in 27 career appearances (22 starts) against Cincinnati and has struck out speedster Billy Hamilton eight times in nine at-bats. Adleman did not figure in the decision in his last outing after he gave up three runs and six hits in six innings against Toronto. The 29-year-old was superb in his previous turn as he allowed one hit over eight scoreless frames in defeating Philadelphia. Adleman lost to the Cardinals on April 28, when he surrendered six runs - five earned - and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings, to fall to 1-2 with a 5.19 ERA in three career starts against them. Cardinals are 7-3 in Wainwrights last 10 road starts. Reds are 1-6 in their last 7 games following a win. Reds are 0-4 in their last 4 games with Rackley behind home plate. |

06-03-17 | Twins -109 v. Angels | Top | 2-7 | Loss | -109 | 10 h 8 m | Show |
Twins Albert Pujols takes another shot at reaching 600 career home runs on Saturday as the Los Angeles Angels continue their four-game series against the visiting Minnesota Twins. Pujols remains stuck on 599 blasts as he was kept in the park for the third straight game Friday as Los Angeles suffered an 11-5 defeat. PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Ervin Santana (7-2, 1.75 ERA) vs. Angels RH Matt Shoemaker (4-3, 4.26) Santana's superb season continued Monday as he allowed two runs - one earned - and five hits over seven innings against Houston but settled for a no-decision. The 34-year-old Dominican, who has given up more than one earned run only twice in 11 starts this year, is holding opponents to a .140 batting average. Santana, who spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Angels, is 1-2 with a 4.35 ERA in three career starts against his former team. Shoemaker had his three-start winning streak snapped Sunday, when he yielded four runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings at Miami. It was the 30-year-old native of Michigan's shortest outing since April 9, when he worked only 4 1/3 frames, but also marked the first time in 11 turns this season he did not issue a walk. Shoemaker has made three career starts against Minnesota, going 1-1 with a 4.61 ERA. Twins are 13-3 in their last 16 road games vs. a right-handed starter. Angels are 3-7 in their last 10 overall. |
|||||||
06-02-17 | Dodgers v. Brewers +204 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 54 m | Show |
Brewers Clayton Kershaw just experienced his worst start of the season and the left-hander seeks to rebound when the Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game series against the host Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. The three-time Cy Young winner lasted a season-low 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday while allowing a season worst-matching four earned runs and tying a career worst of 11 hits. Milwaukee allowed two total runs while winning its last two games and has emerged victorious in four of its past six outings. Nelson struck out a season-high 10 and allowed one run on seven hits over seven innings while defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in his last turn. He has won two of his last three outings with 21 strikeouts against just two walks in 18 innings during the span. Nelson is 0-2 with a 1.89 ERA in three career starts against the Dodgers. Brewers are 5-0 in Nelsons last 5 starts after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game. Which I hate going against Kershaw but there is solid value on the Brewers. |

06-02-17 | Yankees -115 v. Blue Jays | Top | 5-7 | Loss | -115 | 6 h 50 m | Show |
Yankees Aaron Hicks has provided tremendous balance this season by leading the team in on-base percentage (.437), but the 27-year-old had no problem clearing the bases in the opener of a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Hicks aims to carry the momentum of a six-RBI performance into Friday's tilt as the visiting New York Yankees tangle with the Blue Jays. Hicks recorded three doubles to highlight his four-hit performance in Thursday's 12-2 rout, improving to 9-for-18 during his five-game hitting streak. He is 6-for-13 with one homer and nine RBIs against Toronto this season and 3-for-5 in a small sample size against Friday starter Francisco Liriano. Pineda matched last season's win total on Sunday as he picked up his third straight victory with a quality start versus Oakland. The 28-year-old Dominican, who permitted three runs and as many hits in six innings, has surrendered three runs or fewer in nine consecutive outings. Pineda kept the ball in the park for just the second time this season. Liriano (left shoulder inflammation) is expected to return from the disabled list to make his first start since May 10. The 33-year-old Dominican yielded three runs over 4 1/3 innings in his lone rehab appearance for Triple-A Buffalo. Liriano has struggled against the likes of Brett Gardner (.375) and Matt Holliday (.344). Yankees are 6-1 in their last 7 road games vs. a left-handed starter. Road team is 4-0 in Johnsons last 4 games behind home plate vs. New York. |

06-01-17 | Red Sox -130 v. Orioles | Top | 5-7 | Loss | -130 | 7 h 33 m | Show |
Red Sox The Boston Red Sox breezed past the Baltimore Orioles into second place in the American League East on the strength of eight wins in the last 10 games. The Red Sox look to continue their success at the expense of the Orioles on Thursday when the contentious rivals begin a four-game series at Camden Yards. PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH Eduardo Rodriguez (4-1, 2.77 ERA) vs. Orioles LH Wade Miley (1-3, 3.02) Rodriguez won his third straight outing in impressive fashion, scattering five hits over six innings in a 3-0 victory over Seattle. The 24-year-old has ventured at least six frames in seven straight starts, allowing 11 runs and posting a 2.25 ERA in that span. Rodriguez began that stretch by permitting just one hit and overcoming five walks by striking out seven in a 6-2 win over Baltimore on April 23. Miley sustained back-to-back losses on Saturday after allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings of a 5-2 setback at Houston. The 30-year-old continues to struggle with his control, issuing 12 walks in his last four outings to increase his season total to 31 in just 53 2/3 innings. Miley was shelled in his lone career outing versus Boston, yielding six runs on eight hits in 1 1/3 innings en route to a 12-2 setback on Sept. 12. Red Sox are 4-1 in Rodriguezs last 5 road starts. Orioles are 0-6 in their last 6 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Red Sox are 4-0 in Rodriguezs last 4 road starts vs. Orioles. |

05-27-17 | Diamondbacks -128 v. Brewers | Top | 1-6 | Loss | -128 | 4 h 12 m | Show |
D’Backs The hottest team in the majors will give the ball to one of the game's hottest pitchers when the Arizona Diamondbacks start Zack Greinke in the third of a four-game series at the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. Greinke has won four straight starts while sporting a 2.37 ERA and he has been dominant at Miller Park, winning 16 of 18 career decisions. Greinke's personal run has helped fuel the recent surge by the Diamondbacks, who have won 10 of their last 11 after a 4-2 win in 10 innings Friday night. The Brewers are trending in the other direction with a season-high five-game slide and the latest setback has to sting after they lost a 2-1 lead with two outs in the ninth inning on a dramatic home run by Arizona catcher Chris Iannetta. Milwaukee has managed two runs and 11 hits through the first two games of the series and it placed slugger Ryan Braun (calf) on the 10-day disabled list Friday. Chase Anderson will try to keep pace with Greinke when he gets the nod Saturday. Diamondbacks are 6-1 in Greinkes last 7 starts after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game. Brewers are 1-7 in Andersons last 8 Saturday starts. Diamondbacks are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. |

05-26-17 | Diamondbacks +102 v. Brewers | Top | 4-2 | Win | 102 | 6 h 30 m | Show |
D’Backs The Arizona Diamondbacks aim for their fifth consecutive victory and 10th in 11 contests when they continue their four-game series against the host Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Arizona swept a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox at home before cruising to a 4-0 triumph in the opener versus Milwaukee behind a superb pitching performance by Robbie Ray. PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Zack Godley (1-1, 2.45 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Junior Guerra (0-0, 6.00) Godley allowed a total of four runs in his first three starts before yielding three over seven innings in a loss at San Diego on Sunday. The 27-year-old native of South Carolina, who is filling in for the injured Shelby Miller, recorded only one strikeout against the Padres after registering at least six in each of his first three turns. Godley owns a 1-0 record and 1.42 ERA in two career appearances (one start) versus Milwaukee. Guerra will be making his first start since Opening Day, when he yielded two runs in three innings against Colorado before exiting with a strained right calf. The 32-year-old Venezuelan managed to strike out four without issuing a walk and gave up just one hit, although it was a two-run homer. Guerra, who has yet to face Arizona in his career. |

05-25-17 | Cardinals +139 v. Dodgers | Top | 3-7 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 47 m | Show |
Cardinals PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Michael Wacha (2-1, 2.74 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Kenta Maeda (3-2, 5.03) Wacha has gone four consecutive starts without a decision - pitching six innings each time - since beating Pittsburgh on April 19. He blanked San Francisco on four hits over six frames in his last outing, when he struck out five and issued three walks. Wacha is 1-2 with a 3.57 ERA in four career starts against the Dodgers. Maeda is pitching for the first time since May 10 due to a stint on the disabled list with a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old, who won his lone career start (two runs in 5 2/3 innings) against the Cardinals, allowed two runs and five hits over 8 1/3 frames against Pittsburgh in that outing. Cardinals are 8-0 in their last 8 road games vs. a right-handed starter and are 10-3 in Wachas last 13 starts with 5 days of rest. Dodgers are 0-4 in Maedas last 4 starts when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game. Road team is 6-2 in Segals last 8 games behind home plate. |

05-24-17 | Cardinals +142 v. Dodgers | Top | 6-1 | Win | 142 | 8 h 25 m | Show |
Cardinals The Los Angeles Dodgers figure to be without center fielder Joc Pederson when they host the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. Pederson departed Tuesday's contest in the 10th inning with a neck strain after colliding with Yasiel Puig in the alley in right-center field. PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Mike Leake (4-2, 2.03 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Rich Hill (1-1, 2.77) Leake ranks second in the National League in ERA behind Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw (2.01) and also owns a stellar 0.99 WHIP. The 29-year-old has given up two runs or fewer in seven of his eight starts during a fine bounce-back season after compiling a career-worst 4.69 ERA last year. Leake is 4-5 with a 4.26 ERA in 10 career appearances (nine starts) against the Dodgers and has served up two homers to Chase Utley (4-for-27) despite otherwise enjoying success against him. Hill is making his second start since returning from blister issues - something that plagued him last season as well. He struck out six in five innings versus San Francisco on May 16 while allowing one run (on a homer) and six hits. The 37-year-old Hill is 1-0 with a 4.05 ERA in five career appearances (four starts) against St. Louis. Cardinals are 9-1 in their last 10 road games and are 5-1 in Leakes last 6 starts vs. National League West. Dodgers are 0-4 in Hills last 4 starts with 7 or more days of rest. |

05-23-17 | Rangers +174 v. Red Sox | Top | 6-11 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 49 m | Show |
Rangers The Texas Rangers had a 10-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday but got right back to the winning formula again on Sunday - solid starting pitching and a barrage of home runs. The Rangers will bring their power east and try to make it 12 wins in 13 games when they visit the Boston Red Sox for the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday. Texas pitchers allowed three or fewer runs in eight of the last 11 wins and are being backed by an offense that is even getting power from the likes of Pete Kozma, who belte PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers RH Andrew Cashner (1-3, 2.45 ERA) vs. Red Sox RH Rick Porcello (2-5, 4.23) Cashner is dominating of late and allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his last six turns. The TCU product struggles to work deep into games and did not earn his first win until Wednesday, when he limited the Philadelphia Phillies to two runs in a season-high seven innings. Cashner, who spent the first seven seasons of his career in the NL, is seeing Boston for the first time but held Hanley Ramirez to 3-for-20 with no home runs when the two were in the NL. Porcello already owns more losses than he suffered last season (four) and is coming off a six-inning outing at St. Louis on Wednesday in which he surrendered four runs on nine hits and three walks in six innings. The New Jersey native yielded 10 home runs in 55 1/3 innings so far after giving up 23 in 223 frames last season. Porcello is 5-4 with a 5.69 ERA in nine career starts against Texas.d his first home run since 2013 in a 5-2 win at Detroit on Sunday. Rangers are 8-0 in their last 8 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and are 11-1 in their last 12 overall. Red Sox are 1-4 in Porcellos last 5 starts when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game. Excellent value with Texas at this price.

05-20-17 | Rangers +138 v. Tigers | Top | 3-9 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 25 m | Show |
Rangers The Texas Rangers are the hottest team in baseball as they extended their winning streak to 10 games with a triumph in the series opener. The Rangers will try to make it 11 straight and keep the pressure on Houston in the American League West when they visit the Detroit Tigers on Saturday for the middle contest of their set. Texas got off to a slow start and was sitting at 13-20 after a 5-1 loos at San Diego on May 8, but an average of 6.4 runs over the last 10 contests and some solid work from the pitching staff got the team back over .500. PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers RH A.J. Griffin (4-0, 3.15 ERA) vs. Tigers RH Justin Verlander (3-3, 4.47) Griffin had a string of four straight wins come to an end with a no-decision against Oakland on Sunday, when he was reached for four runs and seven hits in five innings. The Californian tossed a four-hit shutout at San Diego in his previous outing and has not allowed a run in two of his last four turns. Verlander had a string of three straight quality starts come to an end Sunday, when he was tagged for four runs on five hits and five walks in six innings by the Angels in Los Angeles. The former Cy Young Award winner and MVP is struggling a bit with his control, issuing 20 walks in his last five starts. Rangers are 12-1 in Griffins last 13 starts during game 2 of a series. Tigers are 2-5 in Verlanders last 7 starts with 5 days of rest. Road team is 4-1 in Everitts last 5 Saturday games behind home plate vs. Detroit. |

05-19-17 | Indians v. Astros -129 | Top | 5-3 | Loss | -129 | 7 h 40 m | Show |
Astros The starting rotation for the Cleveland Indians is in shambles as they prepare to open a three-game series at the red-hot Houston Astros, who just happen to own the best record in the major leagues. Cleveland will send right-hander Trevor Bauer, author of a 6.92 ERA, to the mound in Friday night's series opener against the American League West leaders. Losers of five of their last seven, the Indians are in desperate need of a strong outing from Bauer after their starting rotation posted a collective 9.14 ERA over the past five games and ranks 29th in the majors with a 5.15 mark. Houston is riding a four-game winning streak after capping off a 6-1 road trip with a three-game sweep of Miami, outscoring the Marlins 22-4. Charlie Morton will take the mound for the Astros, who have won 14 of 17 to move 17 games over .500 (29-12) for the first time since the end of the 2004 season. Indians are 1-4 in Bauers last 5 road starts. Astros are 12-3 in their last 15 home games vs. a right-handed starter. |

05-12-17 | Cubs v. Cardinals -131 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -131 | 6 h 46 m | Show |
Cardinals The St. Louis Cardinals have won a season-high six straight games to take over the top spot in the National League Central, and they catch the defending World Series champions in a slump this weekend. The Chicago Cubs have dropped five of their last six as they head to St. Louis for a three-game series against their nemesis that begins Friday. Chicago’s starting pitching has struggled, but the team will get a look at a new arm with Eddie Butler getting the call to replace the injured Brett Anderson in the rotation. Butler will have to contend with a Cardinals lineup that has produced an average of 7.2 runs and 11.5 hits during its six-game winning streak. That’s with leadoff man Dexter Fowler limited to pinch-hitting duties for the past week after injuring himself while diving for a fly ball last Friday against Milwaukee. The Cubs have missed Fowler’s presence at the top of the lineup since he bolted via free agency following the championship run, as new leadoff man Kyle Schwarber has struggled to a .195 average and a .322 on-base percentage. PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH Eddie Butler (2016: 2-5, 7.17 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Mike Leake (4-1, 1.79) Butler is a former first-round pick who never really put things together in parts of three seasons with Colorado. The 26-year-old has had difficulty keeping the ball in the park in 36 major-league appearances (28 starts), allowing 28 home runs over 159 1/3 innings. Leake has posted six straight quality starts to begin the season and has won his last four decisions. The 29-year-old gave up his first home run of the campaign while allowing a season-high three runs over seven innings in a win at Atlanta on Saturday. Leake is 9-5 with a 3.52 ERA in 23 career starts against the Cubs. Cubs are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning record. Cardinals are 6-0 in Leakes last 6 starts when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.

05-12-17 | Twins +123 v. Indians | Top | 1-0 | Win | 123 | 5 h 42 m | Show |
Twins Ervin Santana penned a brilliant beginning to the season with six scintillating starts before coming unglued in his last trip to the mound. The 34-year-old looks to atone for that performance on Friday as the Minnesota Twins visit Progressive Field to open a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians. Minnesota improved to 9-4 on the road by winning both games of its rain-shortened series versus Chicago and moved percentage points ahead of Cleveland for first place in the American League Central. PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Ervin Santana (5-1, 1.72 ERA) vs. Indians RH Josh Tomlin (2-3, 7.12) Santana allowed just three runs and 16 hits over his first six starts (41 innings), picking up the win in all but one as he settled for a hard-luck no-decision versus Cleveland on April 20. Santana permitted just one run on four hits in that contest, although his pitch count elevated to a season-high 113 to end his evening. That performance was significantly greater than his last outing on Sunday, as he yielded six runs on five hits and walked three batters for the third time in four outings. Tomlin pieced together his best start of the season by allowing one run on three hits in seven innings against Kansas City on Saturday, but was left with a no-decision. The 32-year-old pitched well in his previous meeting with Minnesota, recording the victory on the heels of a quality start on April 18. Tomlin will have an extra day of rest under his belt before facing the Twins, although his 1-2 mark with a 9.95 ERA in three home starts leaves plenty to be desired. Twins are 5-0 in their last 5 road games vs. a right-handed starter. Indians are 1-5 in Tomlins last 6 starts during game 1 of a series. |

05-10-17 | Cardinals -103 v. Marlins | Top | 7-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 47 m | Show |
#905 Cardinals St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn has quashed any concerns over how he'd respond after sitting out an entire year due to Tommy John surgery. Lynn has been magnificent since his lone defeat of the season and carries a four-start winning streak into the finale of a three-game series at the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night. Lynn has never lost to the Marlins in six career appearances (four starts), compiling a 4-0 record and 3.04 ERA against them. St. Louis rallied for four runs in the eighth inning before Dexter Fowler delivered a tiebreaking, pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth as the Cardinals improved to 5-0 on their six-game road trip and won for the eighth straight time away from home. Manager Don Mattingly has spent three innings in the dugout so far in the series, getting ejected in each of the first two games for Miami, which has dropped 11 of its last 14 games to fall a season-worst six games below .500. The pitching has been unable to contain the opposition during the current 1-5 slide, with the Marlins surrendering 39 runs in the five losses. |

05-09-17 | Twins -103 v. White Sox | Top | 7-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 17 m | Show |
#963 Twins The Minnesota Twins won seven of nine games before watching the pitching staff implode in back-to-back losses over the weekend. The Twins will try to get the staff back on track when they open a six-game road trip by visiting the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins LH Hector Santiago (3-1, 2.78 ERA) vs. White Sox RH Mike Pelfrey (0-2, 5.02) Santiago has yet to allow more than three earned runs in a start and earned a win at Oakland on Wednesday while yielding three runs and four hits in six frames. The 29-year-old struggled a bit with his control in the last two turns and issued a total of seven walks in 11 frames. Santiago, who began his career with Chicago, is 4-1 with a 1.40 ERA in six starts against his original franchise. Pelfrey is still looking for his first win and has yet to complete six innings in three turns since joining the rotation. The veteran worked a season-high 5 1/3 innings at Kansas City on Wednesday but was hit with the loss while allowing three runs and five hits. Pelfrey spent 2013-2015 with Minnesota and went 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in three starts against the Twins as a member of the Detroit Tigers last season. Twins are 5-0 in Santiagos last 5 starts after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game. White Sox are 5-14 in their last 19 games following an off day. |

05-09-17 | Royals v. Rays -162 | Top | 7-6 | Loss | -162 | 3 h 18 m | Show |
#962 Rays The Kansas City Royals have struggled offensively all season but displayed signs of at least tentatively ending the issues in the series opener against the host Tampa Bay Rays. The team averaging just 2.7 runs per game entering the series broke out for a season-best 13 hits, stole four bases and matched a season high for runs in a 7-3 victory and looks to carry the momentum into the middle contest of the three-game set on Tuesday. PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers RH Chris Young (0-0, 4.22 ERA) vs. Rays RH Matt Andriese (2-1, 3.09) Young will be starting in place of the injured Ian Kennedy (hamstring) after making seven relief appearances this season. The 37-year-old lost his rotation spot last year during a campaign in which he went 3-9 with a 6.19 ERA in 34 appearances (13 starts). Young is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in eight career appearances (four starts) against the Rays and has struggled to retire Colby Rasmus (3-for-7, one homer). Andriese is coming off his best effort of the season as he struck out a season-high eight and scattered five hits over seven scoreless innings while defeating Miami. The 27-year-old, who has given up one run in six frames twice this season, attempts to build on his 8-8 record of last year. Andriese has posted a 1.45 ERA without recording a decision in four career appearances (three starts) against the Royals and has shut down Escobar (0-for-8), Lorenzo Cain (1-for-6) and Salvador Perez (1-for-6). Royals are 4-13 in their last 17 overall and are 1-8 in their last 9 road games. Rays are 10-3 in Andrieses last 13 starts vs. a team with a losing record. Rays are 5-1 in their last 6 games with Dreckman behind home plate. |

05-09-17 | Nationals -142 v. Orioles | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -142 | 3 h 12 m | Show |
#969 Nationals The surging Baltimore Orioles are riding a five-game winning streak as they prepare to host the Washington Nationals on Tuesday in the second contest of the four-game, home-and-home series. Baltimore improved to 26-14 at home against the Nationals with Monday's 6-4 victory and has not lost the Beltway Series since 2007. Ace Max Scherzer will look to cool off the Orioles when he goes for his fifth win and looks to halt Washington's two-game skid, which followed a four-game winning streak. Bryce Harper returned to the Nationals' lineup on Monday after missing the previous three games with a groin injury and went 2-for-3 with a home run, boosting his season batting average to .385. PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Max Scherzer (4-2, 2.66 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Ubaldo Jiménez (1-1, 6.58) Scherzer is coming off an overpowering effort, allowing a solo homer among two hits while striking out 11 in seven innings against Arizona. It was the third win in his last four starts for Scherzer, who has yielded five homers over his last three turns. Scherzer dominated the Orioles with eight scoreless innings of two-hit ball in August. Jimenez skipped his last scheduled start after the Orioles were forced to use him out of the bullpen the previous day. The 33-year-old Dominican turned in two straight dismal starts, lasting 3 1/3 innings in each and giving up a combined 10 runs. Nationals are 14-3 in Scherzers last 17 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance. Orioles are 1-4 in Jimenezs last 5 starts after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game. |

05-05-17 | Astros -127 v. Angels | Top | 7-6 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show |
#975 Astros The Los Angeles Angels hope to have Mike Trout back in the starting lineup when they begin a three-game series against the Houston Astros on Friday. The American League Player of the Month for April, Trout was rested in Thursday's 11-3 loss at Seattle due to tightness in his hamstring. PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros LH Dallas Keuchel (5-0, 1.21 ERA) vs. Angels RH Jesse Chavez (2-4, 4.50) Keuchel looks to continue his brilliance as he earned American League Pitcher of the Month honors after winning five of his six starts in April. The 29-year-old former AL Cy Young Award winner has allowed more than one run just once this season, yielding two in a complete-game victory at Cleveland on April 25, and has worked at least seven innings in each of his outings. Keuchel improved to 10-2 with a 3.50 ERA in his career against Los Angeles after giving up one run over seven frames on April 19. Chavez has lost three of his last four starts, including an outing at Texas on Saturday in which he surrendered four runs and eight hits over six innings. Astros are 12-2 in their last 14 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and are 6-1 in Keuchels last 7 starts with 4 days of rest. Angels are 4-11 in their last 15 Friday games. Astros are 4-1 in Keuchels last 5 road starts vs. Angels. |

05-05-17 | Red Sox -139 v. Twins | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -139 | 6 h 28 m | Show |
#969 Red Sox PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH Eduardo Rodríguez (1-1, 2.70 ERA) vs. Twins RH Phil Hughes (4-1, 5.06) Rodriguez was superb against the reigning World Series champion Chicago Cubs last time out, recording a season-high nine strikeouts in six innings of one-run ball. The 24-year-old also went six innings in his previous turn, overcoming five walks to hold Baltimore scoreless on one hit. Hughes managed to snag his fourth win at Kansas City despite surrendering a season-high 10 hits last time out while allowing at least four runs for the third time in four starts. Hughes is 6-9 with a 5.36 ERA in 26 appearances (17 starts) against Boston. Red Sox are 7-1 in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and are 9-2 in their last 11 games following a loss. Red Sox are 5-0 in Rodriguezs last 5 starts with 4 days of rest. Twins are 1-4 in Hughes' last 5 home starts. |

05-02-17 | Rangers +131 v. Astros | Top | 7-8 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 38 m | Show |
#925 Rangers The Houston Astros are dominating all their division rivals and look to continue their early-season success when they host the Texas Rangers for the second contest of their four-game series. The Astros registered a 6-2 victory in Monday's opener to improve to 13-4 against their American League West foes. PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers LH Cole Hamels (2-0, 3.03 ERA) vs. Astros RH Mike Fiers (0-1, 5.12) Hamels has won consecutive starts, giving up four runs and 10 hits in 14 2/3 innings. The 33-year-old has struck out only 15 batters in 32 2/3 frames after fanning 200 in 200 2/3 innings last season. Hamels is 6-3 with a 4.06 ERA in 14 career starts against the Astros and has shut down Carlos Correa (1-for-13) while struggling against Brian McCann (17-for-61, three homers, 15 RBIs). Fiers has not surpassed five innings in any of his last three outings. The 31-year-old has served up eight homers in just 19 1/3 innings - continuing the trend from last season, when he gave up a career-high 26 blasts. Fiers is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in three career appearances (two starts) against Texas and has experienced difficulties with Rougned Odor (3-for-9, one homer, one triple, four RBIs). Rangers are 13-3 in Hamels' last 16 starts after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game. Astros are 1-4 in their last 5 home games vs. a left-handed starter. Rangers are 4-0 in Hamels' last 4 starts vs. Astros. |

05-02-17 | A's v. Twins -126 | Top | 1-9 | Win | 100 | 8 h 38 m | Show |
#924 Twins The Minnesota Twins are heading home with some confidence after pulling off a 4-1 road trip behind the big bat of 23-year-old slugger Miguel Sano. The Twins, who are just 5-7 at home, will try to carry that momentum into a six-game homestand that begins when the Oakland Athletics visit on Tuesday. PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics RH Sonny Gray (2016: 5-11, 5.69 ERA) vs. Twins RH Ervin Santana (4-0, 0.77) Gray was a Cy Young candidate in 2015, when he went 14-7 with a 2.73 ERA, but he never managed to get on track in 2016 and made just 22 starts while battling injuries. The Vanderbilt product seemed healthy in two rehab starts, totaling three hits allowed, no walks and 13 strikeouts over 11 scoreless innings across two levels. Gray is 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA in four career starts against Minnesota but held Sano hitless in four career at-bats. Santana is a Cy Young candidate early in 2017 while leading the majors in ERA, and he allowed a total of three runs and 13 hits across 35 innings in April. The 34-year-old followed up a one-hit shutout of the Chicago White Sox on April 15 with two more dominant performances and held the Texas Rangers to one run over seven innings in a win on Tuesday. Santana went 1-1 in two starts against Oakland last season while posting a 1.69 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 16 total innings. Athletics are 1-6 in Grays last 7 road starts. Twins are 5-0 in Santanas last 5 starts vs. a team with a losing record. |

05-02-17 | Orioles +220 v. Red Sox | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 37 m | Show |
#917 Orioles Chris Sale leads the American League in strikeouts and owns the second-lowest ERA but that dominance hasn't translated into the win column for the fireballing left-hander. Sale will be looking to receive some offensive support as he makes his sixth start of the season for the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night against the visiting Baltimore Orioles. Boston led the major leagues in runs last year so its lack of offensive ineptitude with Sale on the mound has been startling. Sale has received a scant total of four runs in his 37 2/3 innings on the mound from the Red Sox, who managed six hits in a 5-2 loss in Monday's series opener. Orioles third baseman Manny Machado responded with a home run and a number of sparking defensive plays as Baltimore reclaimed first place in the AL East. Orioles closer Zach Britton, who led the AL with 47 saves in 2016, is expected to be activated off the disabled list Tuesday. Asher was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to make a spot start in his season debut at Toronto on April 15 and permitted one run on three hits over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision. The 25-year-old made just two relief appearances since, including a scoreless frame against the Red Sox on April 23. Asher was 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA in five starts with the Philadelphia Phillies last season. Orioles are 8-1 in their last 9 after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game. Red Sox are 1-6 in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. |

05-01-17 | Mets v. Braves -112 | Top | 7-5 | Loss | -112 | 6 h 16 m | Show |
Braves The New York Mets open a four-game road series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday, looking to put behind them a difficult April that concluded with an ugly 23-5 loss Sunday at Washington. The Mets have dealt with a variety of injuries, saw ace Noah Syndergaard leave Sunday’s game with a potential right lat strain, and employed catcher Kevin Plawecki to pitch the final two innings as they closed the month losing 11 of their past 14 games. PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Robert Gsellman (0-2, 6.23 ERA) vs. Braves RH Julio Teheran (2-1, 3.38)

04-30-17 | White Sox +110 v. Tigers | Top | 3-7 | Loss | -100 | 1 h 18 m | Show |
White Sox The Chicago White Sox are winners of six straight and are tearing the cover off the ball in the process while finally getting bigger contributions from the middle of their order. The White Sox will try to make it seven in a row and polish off their second straight sweep of an American League Central rival when they visit the Detroit Tigers in the finale of a three-game set on Friday. PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH Miguel Gonzalez (3-0, 2.00 ERA) vs. Tigers RH Jordan Zimmermann (2-1, 6.35) Zimmermann has not been nearly as strong as Gonzalez of late and allowed five runs in each of his last three outings while failing to record an out past the sixth inning in any of those turns. The Wisconsin native struggled to keep the ball in the yard while yielding three home runs against Seattle on Tuesday but received enough support to earn a win in the 19-9 final. Zimmermann, who spent the first seven years of his career with the Washington Nationals in the National League, posted a 7.53 ERA in three starts against Chicago last season. White Sox are 6-0 in their last 6 vs. American League Central. Tigers are 1-5 in Zimmermanns last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record. White Sox are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. |

04-29-17 | Padres v. Giants -123 | Top | 12-4 | Loss | -123 | 8 h 17 m | Show |
#962 Giants Matt Cain hasn't recorded double digits in victories since 2012 but is showing signs of rediscovering the form that once made him one of the National League's top pitchers. The three-time All-Star has allowed a total of two runs over his last three starts as he prepares for Saturday's turn against the visiting San Diego Padres in the middle contest of a three-game series. PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres RH Jhoulys Chacin (2-3, 5.90 ERA) vs. Giants RH Matt Cain (2-0, 2.42) Chacin defeated the Giants on April 8, when he scattered three hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings. The 29-year-old tossed eight scoreless frames against Arizona in his other victory but was pounded for 19 earned runs over 14 1/3 innings in his three defeats. Cain allowed two hits in six scoreless innings to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers in his latest outing and has given up just 11 hits in 18 frames during the three-start stretch. He has recorded an 0.82 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in two home starts and has limited opposing batters to a .225 average in 166 career appearances (163 starts) at AT&T Park. Cain is just 8-14 against the Padres despite posting a 3.23 ERA in 37 career appearances (36 starts). Padres are 2-10 in their last 12 games vs. a right-handed starter. Giants are 6-2 in Cains last 8 home starts. Padres are 14-37 in the last 51 meetings in San Francisco. Home team is 5-1 in Muchlinskis last 6 games behind home plate.

04-29-17 | Rockies v. Diamondbacks -125 | Top | 7-6 | Loss | -125 | 7 h 21 m | Show |
#960 D-Backs Zack Greinke was superb in his last outing and looks to follow it up with another strong start when the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game series. Greinke struck out 11 without issuing a walk while allowing one run in six innings of a victory over San Diego on Monday. PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Tyler Anderson (1-3, 7.11 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Zack Greinke (2-2, 2.93) Anderson has dropped three straight decisions and hasn't pitched six innings in any of his five starts. The 27-year-old is 1-6 with a 5.29 ERA in 10 career road outings. Anderson struck out 15 in 10 innings and posted a 6.30 ERA in two starts against Arizona last year as he struggled with Yasmany Tomas (4-for-6, two doubles). Greinke has allowed one run in three of his five starts and has struck out 31 while walking six this season. The Rockies halted a five-game slide against the Diamondbacks with Friday's victory. I’ll look for Arizona to bounce back tonight. Rockies are 1-6 in Andersons last 7 road starts and are 0-6 in Andersons last 6 starts vs. National League West. Diamondbacks are 8-1 in their last 9 home games vs. a left-handed starter and are 8-3 in Greinkes last 11 home starts. Home team is 5-1 in Muchlinskis last 6 games behind home plate. |

04-28-17 | Orioles v. Yankees -114 | Top | 11-14 | Win | 100 | 7 h 25 m | Show |
#918 Yankees Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman hit the nail on the head while summing up his performance in April. "Not very good," Gausman told the Baltimore Sun ahead of his final start of the month on Friday as the Orioles begin a seven-game road trip with the first of three contests against the New York Yankees. The American League East-leading Orioles took two of three from Tampa Bay this week to improve to 6-2 in their last eight overall while boasting a 12-5 mark against their division foes. New York improved to 7-4 versus the East after sweeping a rain-shorted two-game series against Boston on Thursday, with Starlin Castro capping the scoring with an RBI single. The 27-year-old Dominican has hit safely in 15 of his last 17 contests, including an RBI single among his two hits against Gausman on April 8. PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Kevin Gausman (1-2, 7.50 ERA) vs. Yankees LH CC Sabathia (2-1, 2.70) Gausman's season has taken a turn for the worse with back-to-back rough outings, as the 26-year-old surrendered eight runs on as many hits over 2 2/3 innings of 9-3 setback at Cincinnati on April 18 before getting ravaged by Boston in a four-run first inning on Sunday. Gausman yielded three homers against the Red Sox and four over his last two games after keeping the ball in the park in his first three contests. Sabathia sustained his first setback of the season after allowing a pair of homers and four runs total over five innings in a 6-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Friday. The 36-year-old kept the ball in the park in his last encounter with Baltimore, but four walks elevated his pitch count as he settled for a no-decision on April 9. Orioles are 1-4 in Gausmans last 5 starts vs. a team with a winning record and are 0-8 in Gausmans last 8 Friday starts. Yankees are 6-0 in their last 6 vs. American League East and are 4-0 in Sabathias last 4 home starts. |

04-26-17 | Rays v. Orioles -145 | Top | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 32 m | Show |
# 918 Orioles Dylan Bundy appears ready to live up to the enormous promise that led the Baltimore Orioles to draft him with the No. 4 overall pick in 2011. Bundy goes for his fourth victory and the Orioles look to rebound from their first shutout loss of the season in Wednesday's rubber match of a three-game set against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Baltimore has not lost a series yet this year but was blanked on two hits by five Tampa Bay relievers after manager Kevin Cash elected to hold out scheduled starter Erasmo Ramírez due to the dreary weather conditions. Bundy carries a scoreless innings streak of 13 into his matchup against fellow right-hander Alex Cobb. Cobb tied his season high with seven strikeouts against Houston last time out but permitted four runs for the third consecutive start and has been touched for 20 hits over his last two turns. The long ball also has been an issue for Cobb, who has coughed up five homers in his four starts in his first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery. Bundy matched his longest outing of the season last time out, limiting the Boston Red Sox to six hits over seven innings to followed up six scoreless innings of five-hit ball in his previous turn at Toronto. Bundy has allowed four runs in his four starts and has not surrendered a homer after yielding 18 in 109 2/3 innings last year. Rays are 1-8 in Cobbs last 9 starts when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game. Orioles are 8-0 in their last 8 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game. Home team is 10-1 in Littles last 11 games behind home plate vs. Baltimore. |

04-26-17 | Astros v. Indians -105 | Top | 6-7 | Win | 100 | 7 h 37 m | Show |
#916 Indians Trevor Bauer is in an advantageous position to pull himself out of an early hole and even his record, if history is any indication. Bauer looks to emerge victorious for the sixth time in as many career starts versus the Houston Astros on Wednesday as the Cleveland Indians attempt to regain their footing after a tough beginning at Progressive Field. Bauer sports a 5-0 career mark with a 1.97 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 32 innings against the Astros, with two wins and nine punchouts coming last year. While McCullers dominated his recent trip to the mound, his road performance continues to leave plenty to be desired as he owns a 3-8 mark with a 5.11 ERA away from Minute Maid Park. McCullers has limited experience against the Indians, although Edwin Encarnacion greeted him with a solo homer in his two at-bats versus the hurler. Astros are 4-12 in McCullers Jr.s last 16 road starts. Indians are 7-3 in Bauers last 10 home starts and are 5-0 in Bauers last 5 starts vs. Astros. Astros are 5-11 in the last 16 meetings in Cleveland. |

04-25-17 | Royals -130 v. White Sox | Top | 5-10 | Loss | -130 | 7 h 26 m | Show |
#975 Royals Danny Duffy is pitching like an ace in the early stages of the season and looks to produce his fifth consecutive stellar outing when the Kansas City Royals visit the Chicago White Sox for the middle contest of their three-game series on Tuesday. Duffy has allowed only four runs in four starts and has been one of the American League's top starters since moving into the rotation in the middle of May 2016. Duffy - who ranks fifth in the AL with a 1.32 ERA - began last season in the bullpen, but the results have backed up Kansas City's decision to permanently keep him in the rotation. He is 14-3 with a 3.24 ERA since the Royals made the decision - including a 10-game winning streak last season - and now is stepping up further to fill the void created by the tragic offseason death of Yordano Ventura. Duffy will be looking to end Kansas City's five-game losing streak as well as stifle a Chicago attack that registered 15 hits and went 7-for-12 with runners in scoring position while steamrolling the Royals 12-1 in Monday's series opener. PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals LH Danny Duffy (2-0, 1.32 ERA) vs. White Sox RH Dylan Covey (0-1, 7.84) Duffy has pitched at least six innings and allowed two runs or fewer in each of his four starts, tying the third-longest such streak to open a season in franchise history. The 28-year-old settled for a no-decision in his last turn despite scattering four hits over 7 1/3 innings against Texas. Duffy is 6-2 with a 3.20 ERA in 16 career appearances (14 starts) against the White Sox. Covey is making his third major-league start, with the first one going well before he was shellacked in the second. After holding Minnesota to one run and five hits in 5 1/3 innings in his debut, the 25-year-old gave up eight runs and 10 hits over five frames in a loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday. Covey served up three homers to the Yankees and opposing batters have a collective .357 average against him. Royals are 11-3 in Duffys last 14 starts with 4 days of rest. White Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 games following a win. Royals are 5-0 in Duffys last 5 starts vs. White Sox.

04-25-17 | Reds +105 v. Brewers | Top | 1-9 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 57 m | Show |
#957 Reds Three weeks into the season and the Cincinnati Reds already have had more than their fill of Eric Thames - with 14 meetings against the Milwaukee Brewers still to go. Losers of five of their last six, the Reds will look to curb the power of the red-hot Thames when they continue their three-game series in Milwaukee on Tuesday night. Scott Feldman, the Opening Day starter for the Reds, has permitted three runs over 18 innings in his last three outings and will try to keep Thames in the park. Feldman will be opposed by right-hander Zach Davies, an 11-game winner in 2016 who is off to a rocky start for the second straight year. PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Scott Feldman (1-1, 2.38 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Zach Davies (1-2, 8.24) Feldman pitched primarily in relief last year but has acquitted himself well in the rotation since a season debut in which he lasted 4 2/3 innings against Philadelphia. The 34-year-old had to settle for a no-decision last time out despite tossing seven innings of one-run ball in an eventual extra-inning loss to Baltimore. Feldman has made five starts versus the Brewers, going 2-2 with a 3.46 ERA. Davies lost his first three starts a year ago and is following that same path by surrendering 18 earned runs over 19 2/3 innings through his first four turns. He earned his first victory last time out despite giving up four runs and eight hits in a season-high 5 1/3 innings. He was 1-1 with a 3.97 ERA in four starts versus the Reds in 2016 while Joey Votto and Adam Duvall are both 5-for-14 with a homer against him. Reds are 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Brewers are 1-6 in their last 7 home games vs. a right-handed starter. |

04-25-17 | Astros -122 v. Indians | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 27 m | Show |
#965 Astros Dallas Keuchel has been both remarkably dominant and consistent this season by allowing just one run in each of his last three outings while logging seven innings in all four. The 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner looks to continue his scintillating pitching while the Houston Astros vie for their 10th win in 12 outings on Tuesday when they open a three-game series versus the host Cleveland Indians. Houston’s Yuli Gurriel capped his second three-hit performance in three games with an RBI single in the 10th inning of Sunday's 6-4 triumph over Tampa Bay, improving to 15-for-32 with five runs both scored and driven in during his last nine contests. PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros LH Dallas Keuchel (3-0, 0.96 ERA) vs. Indians RH Josh Tomlin (1-2, 11.68) Keuchel fanned seven batters for the second straight outing on Wednesday in a 5-1 rout of the Los Angeles Angels. The 29-year-old has handcuffed Cleveland in his career with a 3-0 mark in five appearances, including scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings to highlight two solid performances in his last two meetings in 2015. Tomlin rebounded from permitting 13 earned runs in his first two starts (6 1/3 innings) by allowing just three over six frames in an 11-4 rout of Minnesota last Tuesday. The 32-year-old kept the ball in the park after yielding two in a short outing versus the Chicago White Sox on April 13. Houston sports a 6-2 road mark while the Indians have won just two of six at Progressive Field this season. Astros are 10-1 in their last 11 games vs. a right-handed starter. Indians are 1-8 in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. |

04-22-17 | Giants v. Rockies -109 | Top | 3-12 | Win | 100 | 6 h 25 m | Show |
#912 Rockies The San Francisco Giants will need the rest of their starting rotation to exceed expectations while ace Madison Bumgarner recovers from injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident. Matt Moore will get a chance to elevate his game Friday as he takes the mound for the Giants against the host Colorado Rockies. San Francisco looks to avoid a third straight loss after dropping a 6-5 decision in the series opener against Colorado, which staged a six-run rally in the fourth inning and made it stand. Trevor Story hit his first career grand slam in the uprising while Charlie Blackmon added a two-run, inside-the-park homer to extend his hitting streak to six games. PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Matt Moore (1-2, 4.26 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Antonio Senzatela (2-0, 2.37) Moore will have revenge on his mind after being battered by Colorado at home last Saturday. The 27-year-old Floridian surrendered five runs on 10 hits and three walks over 5 2/3 frames en route to a loss. Moore owns a 1-2 record and 6.86 ERA in four career starts versus the Rockies. Senzatela looks to remain unbeaten in the major leagues as he makes his fourth career start. The 22-year-old Venezuelan won his only turn at home, defeating San Diego on April 11 after allowing two runs over seven innings. Senzatela is coming off a victory at San Francisco on Sunday, when he gave up three runs and seven hits in seven frames. Giants are 1-6 in their last 7 road games vs. a right-handed starter. Rockies are 6-0 in their last 6 home games vs. a left-handed starter. Home team is 7-0 in Drakes last 7 games behind home plate vs. Colorado. |

04-22-17 | Dodgers v. Diamondbacks +111 | Top | 5-11 | Win | 111 | 6 h 24 m | Show |
#910 Diamond Backs The Arizona Diamondbacks have gone 7-1 at Chase Field to match the franchise's best start (2008) and look to continue the successful stretch when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game series. Arizona broke loose for nine runs in the eighth inning in the opener to register a 13-5 victory. PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers RH Kenta Maeda (1-1, 7.07 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Robbie Ray (1-0, 1.96) Maeda struggled against Arizona on April 15, when he gave up four runs and four hits over four innings in a no-decision. The 29-year-old hasn't lasted more than five frames in any of his three outings but has registered 14 strikeouts against four walks in 14 innings. Maeda is 3-1 with a 3.62 ERA in seven career starts against the Diamondbacks but has struggled against Lamb (8-for-17, one homer, three doubles). Ray recorded a season-best 10 strikeouts against the Dodgers on Monday, when he allowed two runs - one earned - and three hits over six innings in a no-decision. The 25-year-old has struck out 24 batters in just 18 1/3 frames while limiting opponents to a .161 average - second-lowest in the National League. Ray is 3-3 with a 2.80 ERA in nine career starts against the Dodgers while shutting down Seager (3-for-18, eight strikeouts) and Adrian Gonzalez (0-for-11). Dodgers are 3-12 in their last 15 games vs. a left-handed starter. Diamondbacks are 5-0 in Rays last 5 starts vs. National League West. |

04-21-17 | Yankees -107 v. Pirates | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -107 | 7 h 58 m | Show |
#979 Yankees CC Sabathia's days as the unquestioned ace of the New York Yankees have long since passed, but the veteran left-hander is pitching like a top-of-the-rotation starter through his first three outings. Sabathia will get the start as the sizzling Yankees open a six-game road trip Friday night against the slumping Pittsburgh Pirates. Sabathia, who amassed 88 victories in his first five seasons in the Bronx before winning only 18 times in the last three years combined, owns a career 4-0 record and 1.23 ERA against Pittsburgh. The red-hot Yankees are coming off an 8-1 homestand and have won nine of their last 10, scoring at least seven runs on six occasions during that span. Just the opposite holds true for the punch-less Pirates, who lost three straight 2-1 decisions while getting swept in St. Louis. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow will oppose Sabathia for Pittsburgh, which lost star center fielder Starling Marte to an 80-game suspension earlier in the week for testing positive for testing positive for the performance-enhancing substance Nandrolone. Glasnow will be making his seventh career start and 10th appearance and remains in search of his first victory. He had a forgettable season debut against the Cincinnati Reds, lasting only 1 2/3 innings and giving up five runs while walking five batters. He was rocked for four first-inning runs Saturday by the Chicago Cubs but finished with seven strikeouts while yielding four earned runs in five innings. Yankees are 39-13 in their last 52 vs. National League Central. Pirates are 7-23 in their last 31 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Yankees are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings. |

04-20-17 | Mariners -143 v. A's | Top | 6-9 | Loss | -143 | 11 h 31 m | Show |
#919 Mariners Seattle left-hander James Paxton hasn't been scored on in his first three starts and strives for another solid performance when the Mariners visit the Oakland Athletics in Thursday's opener of a four-game series. Paxton allowed just eight hits and four walks while striking out 22 in 21 innings during the flawless outings. The Mariners produced a season high for runs scored in Wednesday's 10-5 victory over the Miami Marlins and won five of their past six games. Right fielder Mitch Haniger continues to swing a hot bat and went 3-for-4 with four RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. Paxton was just 6-7 with a 3.79 ERA in 20 starts last season but did record nearly five times as many strikeouts (117) as walks (24). The 28-year-old has long been viewed as a future standout by the Mariners but injuries have curtailed his progress and last season's 121 innings are his most since he reached the majors in 2013. Paxton is 2-0 with a 2.75 ERA in three career starts against the Athletics. Valdez is making his third major-league start and is appearing in a big-league game for the first time since June 10, 2010 when he was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 32-year-old went 1-2 with a 7.65 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in nine appearances (two starts) during the 2010 stint. The Mariners won 12 of their past 13 games in Oakland. Mariners are 8-1 in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a losing record and are 5-1 in Paxtons last 6 starts vs. a team with a losing record. Athletics are 12-30 in their last 42 vs. American League West.

04-20-17 | Cardinals -111 v. Brewers | Top | 5-7 | Loss | -111 | 9 h 35 m | Show |
#905 Cardinals The St. Louis Cardinals are recovering from a putrid start and look to post their fourth consecutive victory when they open a four-game series at the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. The Cardinals turned their fortunes around with three consecutive 2-1 victories in a sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates after opening the campaign with nine losses in 12 games. Milwaukee dropped its last two games and Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs was particularly painful as the Brewers allowed four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning - the final three on Addison Russell's homer. The opener begins a stretch of 10 straight home games for Milwaukee, which is just 2-5 at Miller Park. PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Carlos Martinez (0-2, 3.57 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Zach Davies (0-2, 8.79) Martinez is coming off an odd outing in which he struck out 11, walked a career-high eight and allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the New York Yankees. The 25-year-old issued just one total walk in his first two starts to further compound the uneven performance. Martinez excelled against Milwaukee last season with a 3-0 mark and 1.38 ERA in four starts and has limited the Brewers to a .223 average in 19 career appearances (eight starts). Davies struggled through his first three starts with a 2.02 WHIP while allowing opponents to bat a collective .344. The 24-year-old has yet to pitch more than five innings and his best outing was his last, when he gave up three runs and five hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Cincinnati Reds. Cardinals are 4-1 in Martinezs last 5 starts with 4 days of rest. Brewers are 1-5 in their last 6 home games vs. a right-handed starter. Cardinals are 5-0 in Martinezs last 5 road starts vs. Brewers. |

04-19-17 | Orioles v. Reds -102 | Top | 2-0 | Loss | -102 | 7 h 29 m | Show |
#978 Reds Adam Duvall and the Cincinnati Reds broke out of a mini-slump in a big way and the former looks to help the latter claim an interleague series victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Mired in an 0-for-13 stretch, Duvall belted his first career grand slam and matched a personal best with five RBIs in Tuesday's 9-3 rout at Great American Ball Park. Joey Votto launched a two-run homer in the opener of the three-game set and is 5-for-15 with two doubles against Wednesday starter Ubaldo Jimenez. PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Ubaldo Jimenez (0-0, 10.38 ERA) vs. Reds LH Amir Garrett (2-0, 1.42) Jimenez has been fortunate that his team's bats came alive in his last two outings against the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, receiving no-decisions after 4 1/3 innings of work despite surrendering five runs in each tilt while allowing three balls to leave the yard. The 33-year-old Dominican is trying to rein in his troubles after his performance last season, during which he was saddled with a career-high ERA (5.44) while his 1.56 WHIP left plenty to be desired. Garrett extended his shutout streak to 12 innings before David Freese belted a two-run homer in the seventh of a 9-2 triumph at Pittsburgh last Wednesday. The 24-year-old rookie allowed just those two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings in the lopsided victory. Garrett, who is listed at 6-foot-5, made the transition from being a college basketball player at St. John's to professional baseball by benefit of a 90-95 mph fastball, a slider and a late-fading changeup. Reds are 5-1 in their last 6 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Home team is 7-1 in Bellinos last 8 games behind home plate. |

04-18-17 | Tigers +107 v. Rays | Top | 1-5 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 52 m | Show |
#917 Tigers Michael Fulmer won American League Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 and is showing no early signs of a sophomore slump. Fulmer will make his third start as the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers continue their nine-game road trip with a visit to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game set. Fulmer looks to continue the momentum against an opponent he dominated in two starts last season, striking out 21 and permitting one run over 14 innings. Tampa Bay will be glad to return home after going 1-6 on its seven-game road trip, dropping the final three games in Boston. Fulmer gave up three early runs but got through six innings and struck out seven to beat Minnesota in his last turn. He opened the season by tossing six scoreless innings of four-hit ball against Boston but did not factor in the decision. The 24-year-old Fulmer held Tampa Bay to a collective .128 batting average in his two starts. Matt Andriese bounced back from a rocky season debut to limit the New York Yankees to one run and five hits over six innings in a no-decision last time out. The 27-year-old lasted four innings against Toronto on April 7 and was tagged for five runs (four earned) in four innings. Andriese has made five appearances (one start) against Detroit, logging a 1-1 mark with a 5.73 ERA. Tigers are 7-1 in their last 8 games following an off day and are 8-1 in Fulmers last 9 starts vs. American League East. Rays are 3-12 in Andrieses last 15 starts vs. a team with a winning record. #972 Twins The White Sox have won three straight since a 2-4 start and allowed just 19 runs in the eight games since losing their opener to Detroit at home as they send Jose Quintana to the mound Saturday. Minnesota, which won two of three at Chicago last weekend, counters with Ervin Santana after he produced a pair of dazzling starts to open the campaign. Brian Dozier, who finished with 42 homers and 99 RBIs last year, is starting to warm up for Minnesota with five hits in 12 at-bats over the last three games. Quintana pitched better Sunday against the Twins, allowing two runs and five hits with seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a 4-1 loss. The 28-year-old Colombian, who won a career-high 13 games with a 3.20 ERA last season, was knocked around for six runs on five hits in his season debut against Detroit. Mauer is 13-for-40 with two homers and Dozier has gone deep four times versus Quintana, who is 6-7 with a 4.09 ERA all-time against Minnesota. Santana is off to a strong start while allowing just one run on four hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in his first two starts of the season as the team’s ace. The 34-year-old from the Dominican Republic shut out the White Sox over six innings Sunday on 87 pitches - 57 of them strikes - improving to 9-8 with a 3.66 ERA in 23 appearances (22 starts) against them. Jose Abreu is 6-for-12 with two walks and an RBI versus Santana, who owns a 19-15 record and 3.71 ERA all-time in the month of April. 04-15-17 | Brewers v. Reds -105 | Top | 5-7 | Win | 100 | 1 h 14 m | Show |
#956 Reds The Milwaukee Brewers are over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2014 season, and they’ll try to stay there when they face the host Cincinnati Reds in the third of a four-game series Saturday. The Brewers ran their winning streak to four games with a 10-4 victory Friday. The Brewers might need another big night from the bats to keep their winning streak going Saturday. Reds sluggers Adam Duvall (5-for-14, one homer) and Joey Votto (5-for-12, one homer) have enjoyed success against Brewers right-hander Zach Davies, who is looking for his first win of the season. Cincinnati had outscored opponents 30-5 during a four-game winning streak entering the series. After a dreadful 2017 debut against Colorado, Davies took a step forward Sunday but still had a rough outing. The 24-year-old struck out six Chicago Cubs but also gave up five runs and seven hits over five innings. Davies is 1-2 with a 4.08 ERA in five starts against the Reds. Finnegan was dominant in his season debut against Philadelphia, striking out nine and allowing one hit over seven scoreless frames. The 24-year-old followed that with an odd outing at Pittsburgh on Monday, as he gave up only one run but left without recording an out in the third inning after struggling with his command and issuing five walks. Finnegan is 2-1 with a 3.22 ERA in five outings (four starts) against Milwaukee. Cincinnati’s bullpen posted 20 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings before being touched for a pair of four-run frames Friday. Brewers are 1-6 in Davies' last 7 starts after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game. Reds are 6-1 in Finnegans last 7 starts vs. National League Central. Reds are 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games with Cooper behind home plate. |

#925 Astros Josh Reddick makes his return to Oakland on Friday as the Houston Astros look to make it three wins in a row when they continue their six-game road trip with the opener of a three-game series against the Athletics. Reddick enjoyed the most productive seasons of his career with Oakland, playing 4 1/2 campaigns with the club before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Aug. 1. Houston was shut out by Seattle in the opener of its trek but bounced back to capture the final two games of the set, scoring a total of 17 runs in the process. The Athletics return to the Bay Area for a 10-game homestand following a 3-3 road trip that concluded Thursday with a 3-1 loss in Kansas City. Oakland nearly was blanked in its attempt to complete a three-game sweep, but Rajai Davis belted a solo home run in the ninth inning, giving him three RBIs in his last two contests. Keuchel settled for a no-decision against Kansas City on Saturday after allowing just one run and two hits over seven innings. The 29-year-old former American League Cy Young Award winner is the fourth pitcher in major-league history - and first since Nolan Ryan in 1979 - to give up fewer than three hits while working at least seven frames in each of his first two games of a season. Keuchel is just 2-3 with one complete game and a 2.78 ERA in 14 career contests (12 starts) against Oakland. Graveman has made six career starts against Houston, going 3-2 with a 4.46 ERA. Astros are 11-5 in their last 16 games following an off day and are 5-1 in Keuchels last 6 starts vs. American League West. 04-13-17 | Rays v. Yankees -134 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 26 m | Show |
#966 Yankees The New York Yankees go for a three-game sweep in their opening series at home when they host the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night. The Yankees rallied from a three-run deficit to post an 8-4 victory on Wednesday as slugging outfielder Aaron Judge belted a home run for the third consecutive game and third baseman Chase Headley continued his hot start. Headley has recorded multiple hits in five of eight games this season after posting a pair of singles and scoring twice in Wednesday’s triumph to improve his batting average to .393. Luis Severino gets the ball for the finale on Thursday and he will oppose Tampa Bay’s fifth starter Matt Andriese, who will try to rebound from a rough season debut to help the Rays win their first road contest. The Rays posted four errors in the first two games of the series and have been outscored 16-5 while going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Rays RH Matt Andriese went 2-6 with a 6.03 ERA after the All-Star break last season and may end up in the bullpen if he cannot show some progress soon. Judge (3-for-4, homer) and Headley (3-for-9, two homers) have caused trouble for Andriese, who was 1-1 with a 6.00 ERA versus New York last year. Severino is 3-1 with a 3.47 ERA in seven appearances (three starts) against Tampa Bay. Rays are 15-40 in their last 55 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and are 4-9 in Andrieses last 13 starts. Yankees are 22-8 in their last 30 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Yankees are 5-1 in their last 6 games with Tichenor behind home plate. |

#969 Rangers If Joey Gallo keeps this up, the Texas Rangers are going to have to find a way to keep their prodigious slugger around a little longer. Gallo looks to continue his hot start Tuesday as the Rangers head out on the road for the first time this season to begin a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels, who scored seven runs in the ninth inning Sunday to complete a three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners. PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers LH Cole Hamels (0-0, 4.50 ERA) vs. Angels LH Tyler Skaggs (0-1, 8.44) Hamels received a no-decision in his season debut against Cleveland last Wednesday, when he allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits over six innings. The 33-year-old, who led the AL with 10 road victories last season, has gone 22-6 over 45 regular season starts since joining the Rangers in 2015. The Southern California native is 2-1 with a 3.27 ERA in five career starts against Los Angeles, including 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in two outings at Angel Stadium. Skaggs took the loss last Thursday at Oakland after allowing five runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings. Blue Jays Neither the Toronto Blue Jays nor the Cleveland Indians have been to the World Series this century, but the teams begin pursuit of ending their droughts when the American League Championship Series opens in Cleveland on Friday. The Blue Jays haven't been to the World Series since winning the second of back-to-back championships in 1993 while the Indians' last visit was a losing effort in 1997. Estrada was superb in Game 1 of the ALDS, giving up one run and four hits in 8 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old, who has posted a 3.75 ERA in two career no-decisions against Cleveland, was a playoff standout last year as he went 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA in three outings. The 30-year-old Kluber proved his late-September quadriceps injury was a non-issue by scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings against Boston in Game 2 of the ALDS. Kluber is 1-3 with a 5.34 ERA in five career starts against Blue Jays. Blue Jays are 4-0 in their last 4 road games and are 5-1 in Estradas last 6 starts on grass. |

Nationals Everybody agrees that Clayton Kershaw is one of the top pitchers in baseball but his postseason history hasn't come close to matching his regular season success. The left-hander gets another opportunity to alter his October reputation when the Los Angeles Dodgers open the National League Division Series against the host Washington Nationals on Friday.Kershaw, a three-time NL Cy Young Award winner, is 2-6 with a 4.59 ERA in 13 career postseason appearances (10 starts) and bristles at the notion that he is an underachiever on baseball's big stage. Washington counters with Max Scherzer and the right-hander - a candidate to win his second Cy Young award - has experienced mixed results in the playoffs by going 4-3 with a 3.73 ERA in 12 career appearances (10 starts). Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy (strained buttocks muscle) said he expects to be in the starting lineup and manager Dusty Baker said he thought the 2015 playoff hero looked good during Thursday's workout. Scherzer didn't face the Dodgers this season and is 2-4 with a 3.29 ERA in 10 career appearances (eight starts) against Los Angeles. The 32-year-old won his past eight decisions and aims to carry his regular-season success into the postseason when he faces Kershaw. Dodgers are 1-6 in their last 7 road games.Nationals are 5-0 in Scherzers last 5 starts vs. National League West and are 13-3 in Scherzers last 16 starts with 4 days of rest.

10-06-16 | Red Sox -132 v. Indians | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -132 | 7 h 57 m | Show |
Red Sox Boston's David Ortiz makes his last playoff run and starts it against a team managed by Terry Francona, who helped guide Ortiz and the Red Sox to World Series titles in 2004 and 2007. Francona must find a way to work around Ortiz with a pitching staff at less-than full strength when the Cleveland Indians host Boston in Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Thursday. Porcello emerged as an AL Cy Young candidate in the second half and went 8-1 over his final 11 starts, yielding three or fewer earned runs in each of those outings. The New Jersey native had a string of 11 straight starts completing at least seven innings come to an end in his last two starts as he surrendered a total of six runs and 16 hits in 12 1/3 innings against Tampa Bay and Toronto. Porcello earned a home win over Cleveland on May 22 and is 10-4 with a 3.35 ERA in 22 career starts against the Indians. Bauer might have slotted fourth in a fully healthy Cleveland rotation and struggled down the stretch with a 7.20 ERA in his last five starts. The lone quality start in that bunch came Saturday, when the UCLA product held Kansas City to three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out nine in six innings. Bauer faced Boston twice this season - once in relief - and allowed a total of six runs and 10 hits in six innings. The Red Sox took the season series 4-2, winning two of three in Cleveland and I’ll back them tonight.

10-06-16 | Blue Jays +109 v. Rangers | Top | 10-1 | Win | 109 | 3 h 27 m | Show |
Blue Jays The Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays don't like each other very much and aren't afraid to show it on the field. Both teams try to keep their emotions in check when they meet in the American League Division Series for the second straight season, with the top-seeded Rangers hosting Game 1 on Thursday. Jays starter Marco Estrada has posted a 0.95 ERA and 0.842 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Estrada has also pitched very well against the Rangers, posting a 2.37 ERA in 5 career starts against them. Texas counters with Cole Hamels, who wasn't sharp at home (4.40 ERA in 15 starts) and closed out the season with a 4.05 ERA in his last 3 starts. Hamels has also not had much success against the Blue Jays, as he owns an bad 5.29 ERA in 6 career starts against them. I’ll back the dog here in game one. |

10-04-16 | Orioles +133 v. Blue Jays | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 44 m | Show |
Orioles The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles did what they needed to do on the last weekend of the regular season and earned the two American League wild-card spots with identical 89-73 records. The Blue Jays edged the Orioles 10-9 in the season series, earning the right to host the one-game playoff Tuesday to determine which team advances to the AL Division Series to face the top-seeded Texas Rangers. Baltimore should have plenty of confidence after finishing the season winning seven of its last nine games with a series win in Toronto last week that included a 3-2 triumph Wednesday. Orioles are 8-0 in Tillmans last 8 road starts vs. a team with a winning record and are 14-3 in Tillmans last 17 starts vs. American League East.Blue Jays are 1-7 in Stromans last 8 starts vs. American League East.Orioles are 4-0 in Tillmans last 4 starts vs. Blue Jays. I like Baltimore to advance to the next round vs. Texas. |

09-30-16 | Orioles v. Yankees -129 | Top | 8-1 | Loss | -129 | 8 h 41 m | Show |
Yankees The Baltimore Orioles' pursuit of a playoff spot moves to New York on Friday for three games against the Yankees to finish the regular season. Courtesy of a 4-0 win in Toronto on Thursday, the Orioles are in a tie with the Blue Jays, who would host the wild-card game between the two teams if they ended up in a tie. Gallardo was rocked for eight runs (seven earned) in 1 1/3 innings at Yankee Stadium just over a month ago. He also had a tough time two turns ago against Tampa Bay but rebounded to limit Arizona to two runs in six innings in a no-decision last Friday. Chase Headley is 10-for-26 and Mark Teixeira has three home runs in 13 at-bats against Gallardo, who has a 6.71 ERA on the road this year. Pineda will be making his 100th career start, the last nine of which have resulted in an 0-1 record. His winless streak continued with a no-decision at Toronto on Sunday after he allowed a run in 5 2/3 innings, lowering his ERA in September to 1.90 in five starts. The 27-year-old is 4-2 with a 3.73 ERA in 11 career starts against Baltimore. Orioles are 1-6 in Gallardos last 7 starts vs. American League East and are 0-7 in Gallardos last 7 starts vs. a team with a winning record.Yankees are 6-2 in their last 8 home games vs. a right-handed starter and are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.Yankees are 4-0 in Pinedas last 4 home starts vs. Orioles. 09-29-16 | Red Sox v. Yankees -158 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 27 m | Show |
Yankees The New York Yankees won't be making a trip to the playoffs this season, but at least they successfully muted the rival Boston Red Sox's American League East-clinching celebration. The Yankees will go for a three-game sweep when they host the Red Sox in the series finale on Thursday. Owens will get the nod in place of lefty Drew Pomeranz, who is enduring forearm soreness and is hoping to get back to a bullpen role for the postseason. Owens had a chance to earn a spot in the Boston rotation earlier this season but struggled with his control in four starts, issuing 18 walks in 17 1/3 total innings. Sabathia has gone six straight starts without a win and did not factor in the decision in any on his last four turns. The hefty veteran breezed through seven scoreless innings at Toronto on Saturday - scattering four hits - but could not get any support in a game the Yankees went on to lose 3-0. Boston will be resting starters and the Yankees will go for the sweep. |

09-28-16 | Brewers +195 v. Rangers | Top | 5-8 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 34 m | Show |
Brewers Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy are having a fun time re-introducing themselves to their former team. The pair looks to continue their rude greeting to their ex-mates on Wednesday as the American League West champion Texas Rangers vie for an interleague series victory over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. Anderson owns a 2-0 mark with just three runs on 17 hits allowed in his last four starts. The 28-year-old yielded one run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings versus Pittsburgh on Thursday and has surrendered more than two earned runs on only one occasion in his last 11 starts. Anderson takes a 2-6 road mark into Texas, against which he permitted just one run on three hits in seven innings of a no-decision in his lone encounter. Hamels helped the Rangers clinch the AL West with seven scoreless inning against the A’s on Friday. It was just the second time in his last five starts that he allowed six-or-fewer runs. He has a 7.56 ERA over his last five starts. Brewers are 5-0 in their last 5 road games vs. a left-handed starter.Rangers are 0-7 in their last 7 during game 3 of a series. Good value here with the Brewers as a big underdog. |

09-28-16 | Mets -114 v. Marlins | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 48 m | Show |
Mets The Miami Marlins are trying to battle through a whirlwind of emotions as they wrap up a three-game series against the visiting New York Mets on Wednesday night. While Miami will be playing their third game following the tragic death of pitcher Jose Fernandez, the Mets are looking to maintain their grip on the top wild card in the National League. Lugo is coming off consecutive no-decisions against Philadelphia and Minnesota, lasting five innings in each and permitting a combined four runs on eight hits. He won his previous four starts in impressive fashion, surrendering a total of five runs over 25 innings to add a much-needed reliable arm to the injury-ravaged rotation. Lugo made his lone career start against the Marlins on Aug. 30, earning the win with six innings of two-run ball. He hasn’t allowed many more going 4-0 with a 2.31 ERA his last 6 starts. Urena came within one out of a complete-game shutout against the Dodgers on Sept. 11, but he followed that up with back-to-back clunkers in a pair of abbreviated performances. The 25-year-old Dominican lasted three innings and gave up five runs in a loss to Atlanta last time out, which came on the heels of a seven-run, two-inning drubbing at Philadelphia. In September, he's 2-3 with a 6.20 ERA. Mets are 6-0 in Lugos last 6 starts.Marlins are 1-8 in Urenas last 9 home starts. |

09-28-16 | Orioles v. Blue Jays -140 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -140 | 7 h 43 m | Show |
Blue Jays The Toronto Blue Jays are still alive in the race for the American League East crown, though just barely. The Blue Jays will try to keep their chances alive and knock the Baltimore Orioles further back in the wild card race when they host the second of a three-game series on Wednesday. Tillman is trying to bounce back from a terrible outing against Boston on Thursday, when he was reached for three runs on five hits and three walks in just 1 2/3 innings. The California native is in line to start for Baltimore in a potential wild card game and is making his fourth start since August 20 after missing three weeks with bursitis in his right shoulder. Tillman allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings at Toronto on July 31 and is 5-10 with a 5.61 ERA in 23 career starts against the Blue Jays. Liriano is no stranger to pitching in big games after helping the Pittsburgh Pirates to the playoffs the last three years and is 2-2 with a 3.35 ERA in nine appearances - seven starts - since joining Toronto. The Dominican Republic native is coming off his best performance since returning to the AL, holding the New York Yankees scoreless on three hits in six innings to earn a win on Friday. Liriano has not seen Baltimore since joining the team and is 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA in his last three home starts. Orioles are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record.Blue Jays are 21-10 in their last 31 home games vs. a right-handed starter. |

09-27-16 | Twins v. Royals -155 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 12 m | Show |
Royals The Kansas City Royals may be left with just memories of last year's remarkable run to the World Series title, however manager Ned Yost's club has looked every bit the champion in the eyes of the Minnesota Twins. The Royals vie for their 14th win in 17 encounters versus the Twins on Tuesday as the American League Central rivals play the opener of a three-game series in Kansas City. Mother Nature washed away the makings of an impressive start on Wednesday, as Berrios recorded three scoreless innings versus Detroit. The statistics weren't official and the 22-year-old rookie is left to with an 0-6 mark in his last seven outings. Berrios was shelled for five runs on a season-high nine hits in five innings of an 11-5 setback against Kansas City on Sept. 5. Kennedy looks to rebound from his first loss in nearly two months on Wednesday, as the 31-year-old allowed three runs on a season-high 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings in a setback to Cleveland. The USC product has permitted just 18 earned runs in 11 starts since that defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels on July 25. Kennedy defeated Minnesota on two occasions during that stretch, including scattering four hits over eight sterling innings in a 10-0 romp on Aug. 20. Lay the price with the Royals. |

09-27-16 | Red Sox v. Yankees +182 | Top | 4-6 | Win | 182 | 7 h 1 m | Show |
Yankees The Boston Red Sox have won 11 in a row and are on the verge of clinching the American League East title as the rival New York Yankees finally begin to show some fight after slipping out of the race. David Ortiz begins his final series at Yankee Stadium when the Red Sox kick off a three-game set at New York on Tuesday. Price is set to make two starts this week as he tunes up for the playoffs, where he will likely start Game 2 of the Division Series after Rick Porcello goes in Game 1. The former Cy Young Award winner has not lost since Aug. 7 and allowed three or fewer runs in eight of his last nine starts. The only blemish in that span came against the Yankees on Sept. 17 at home, when Price was knocked around for five runs on nine hits in six innings without factoring in the decision. His ERA is 7.71 in 23 innings pitched this season vs. the Yankees. Cessa has been solid since joining the rotation and is keeping himself in the team's plans for 2017. The 24-year-old has not found his way into the win column in any of his last five starts and absorbed the loss in the last three despite a quality start at Tampa Bay in a 2-0 loss on Thursday. Cessa went five innings at Boston on Sept. 16 and suffered the loss while yielding three runs on six hits. Yankees are 8-3 in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Red Sox are overpriced here. |

09-16-16 | Tigers v. Indians -150 | Top | 4-11 | Win | 100 | 7 h 27 m | Show |
Indians The Detroit Tigers have a last-gasp chance to make a run at the American League Central Division title when they open a three-game series at the first-place Cleveland Indians on Friday night. The Tigers are coming off a four-game split against the AL-worst Minnesota Twins to remain six games behind the Indians and in a six-team cluster fighting for the two wild cards. Kluber turned in an overpowering performance last time out at Minnesota, striking out 10 and allowing an unearned run on four hits to improve to 7-1 since the All-Star break. The Tigers were overmatched earlier this season by Kluber, who fanned 10 while giving up one run on two hits over eight innings on April 23 before tossing a five-hit shutout against them 11 days later. Fulmer will make his fifth attempt at his 11th victory after settling for a no-decision despite limiting Baltimore to two runs on three hits over seven innings on Sept. 9. Fulmer lost his previous three starts and has one win over his last 10 turns despite permitting three runs or fewer on eight occasions. The 23-year-old gave up five runs on 10 hits in a loss at Cleveland on May 5. |

09-14-16 | Marlins -139 v. Braves | Top | 7-5 | Win | 100 | 6 h 18 m | Show |
Marlins The Miami Marlins have all but dropped out of contention for a National League wild card spot and the Atlanta Braves were buried by a horrid April, but two of the top pitchers in baseball will match up when the teams meet on Wednesday. Miami sends ace Jose Fernandez to the mound in Atlanta, five days after a 14-strikeout performance, while Julio Teheran seeks his third victory in the past four starts for the Braves. The Marlins have scored 14 runs in the first two games of the series after averaging 2.8 while losing 11 of the previous 15 contests entering the matchup with the Braves. Fernandez has pitched like a superstar in his first full campaign after Tommy John surgery, leading the majors in strikeouts per nine innings (12.8). He blew away the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, punching out 14 for his eighth double-digit strikeout performance in 27 starts, and has not allowed a run in three of his last four outings. The Braves have averaged just 3.08 runs in Teheran’s 26 starts, but the 25-year-old Atlanta ace has allowed three runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. Teheran, who ranks 10th in the NL in ERA and eighth in WAR for pitchers (4.4), gave up two runs on four hits in a no-decision Friday against the New York Mets. He is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in two starts against Miami this season, giving up five runs on 11 hits across 6 2/3 innings in his last appearance against the Marlins on July 1. |

09-13-16 | Orioles v. Red Sox -144 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -144 | 4 h 57 m | Show |
Red Sox The depth of the Boston Red Sox lineup has been on display all season, and the team is counting on those hitters to carry them to an American League East title. The Red Sox will try to clinch another series win and increase their advantage in the division when they host the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday in the second of a three-game series. Bundy got off to a strong start when he was added to the rotation in July but has struggled with his consistency over the last month. The 23-year-old allowed five runs in three of his last five outings, including a rough start at Tampa Bay on Wednesday in which he was knocked out after 3 2/3 innings. Bundy was not at his best against Boston on Aug. 17, when he was rocked for five runs on nine hits - two home runs - in 4 1/3 innings while suffering a loss. Pomeranz allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his last seven starts but recorded only two wins in that span due to some poor run support. The 27-year-old was given a couple of extra days of rest and will take the mound for the first time since a tough-luck loss at San Diego on Sept. 5 in which he was charged with two runs in 5 2/3 innings against his former team. Pomeranz is making his first career start against Baltimore. Orioles are 1-6 in their last 7 road games vs. a left-handed starter.Red Sox are 4-1 in Pomeranzs last 5 starts vs. a team with a winning record. |

09-09-16 | Cubs -123 v. Astros | Top | 2-0 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
Cubs The Chicago Cubs continue their nine-game road trip with the first of three against the Houston Astros on Friday and are not content with having the best record in baseball or a huge lead in the National League Central. The Cubs, who are 12-1 in their last 13 series openers, lead the St. Louis Cardinals by 16 games and have a magic number of eight to clinch their first division title since 2008. Houston trails Baltimore by 2 1/2 games for the second wild card spot in the American League after concluding a 3-4 road trip by splitting four in Cleveland. Lester, who is among the favorites to win his first Cy Young award, took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before pitching a three-hitter in Chicago's 2-1 victory over San Francisco on Sept. 2. "I didn't think his stuff was overpowering,'' Ross told reporters about the 32-year-old Washington native. "He just really moved the ball around and executed the pitches when he had to." Lester, who is 7-2 with a 3.40 ERA in 14 road turns, is 10-0, 2.43 in 15 night starts. Musgrove allowed five runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings of a 12-4 loss at Texas on Saturday, falling to 1-3 with an 8.71 ERA in four road starts. The 23-year-old Californian and first-round draft pick by Toronto in 2011 hasn't gotten through the sixth inning in his last four starts, going 1-3 with a 8.53 ERA during that span. Musgrove yielded 42 hits, seven home runs and eight walks while striking out 35 in 37 1/3 innings this season. Back the Cubs as my inter-league game of the month! |

09-08-16 | Rangers +109 v. Mariners | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 4 m | Show |
Rangers The Seattle Mariners have scored 29 runs in the series against Texas but the visiting Rangers will be aiming to gain a split of the four-game set when the series concludes Thursday. Seattle first baseman Adam Lind fueled Wednesday's 8-3 victory with two homers and five RBIs but the win was only the Mariners' fourth in the past 15 games. Holland has won back-to-back outings and has allowed three runs and 10 hits in 12 innings during the stretch. He has a 2.00 ERA in three starts since returning from a two-month absence because of a shoulder injury. Holland is 12-5 with a 3.56 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 24 career appearances (20 starts) against the Mariners. Walker served up three homers and was torched for six runs (five earned) and six hits in two-thirds of an inning while losing to the Los Angeles Angels in his last turn. He is 0-4 with a 9.55 ERA over his last five starts and has given up 23 homers in just 103 2/3 innings this season. Walker is 1-2 with a 4.76 ERA in six appearances (five starts) against the Rangers and was roughed up for six runs and nine hits in five innings while losing on June 3. Back Texas on the road. |

09-07-16 | Astros v. Indians -175 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 22 m | Show |
Indians The Houston Astros may have misfired to begin their stretch of four consecutive series against division leaders, but they sure are clicking on all cylinders of late. The Astros will vie for their fourth straight victory on Wednesday as they play the third contest of their four-game set versus the host Cleveland Indians. Fister endured his worst outing of the season on Friday as the 32-year-old yielded a campaign-high eight runs on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings of a 10-8 setback versus Texas. Fister has dropped two in a row and three of his last four while permitting 21 runs on 35 hits in his last five outings (26 innings). The veteran owns a 5-3 mark versus Cleveland, but Jason Kipnis has had his number by going 12-for-25 in his career. Carrasco improved to 3-1 in his last five outings on Friday after scattering six hits and striking out 11 in 7 1/3 scoreless innings of a 6-2 victory versus Miami. The 29-year-old Venezuelan has fanned at least eight batters in six consecutive starts and reached 11 in a game for the third time in 13 outings. Carrasco has posted a 2-1 mark with a 2.05 ERA in five career appearances against the Astros. |

09-06-16 | Giants +118 v. Rockies | Top | 3-2 | Win | 118 | 7 h 25 m | Show |
Giants The struggling San Francisco Giants visit the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday in the middle contest of a three-game series and must soon snap out a funk that has lasted since the All-Star break. San Francisco had the best record in baseball (57-33) and led the Los Angeles Dodgers by 6 1/2 games in the National League West at the break, but is a major league-worst 16-31 since and trails Los Angeles by four games while seeing its wild-card cushion reduced to 1 1/2 over the New York Mets. Samardzija earned a no-decision after allowing three runs, five hits and three walks while throwing 87 pitches - 47 in the first inning - over four frames of San Francisco's 5-4 loss to the Cubs in Chicago on Thursday. The 31-year-old Indiana native yielded only one home run in his last five starts and is 2-1 with a 2.43 ERA during that span. Nolan Arenado is 5-for-13 versus Samardzija, who is 3-1 with a 2.11 ERA in nine games (five starts) versus Colorado - 1-1, 2.30 in two turns this season with the victory coming at Coors Field on April 12. Anderson permitted six hits and two walks while striking out five in 6 1/3 innings of a 7-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. The 27-year-old Nevada native was winless (0-2) with a 4.91 ERA and five home runs allowed in his previous four turns. Anderson, who is 4-1 with a 4.31 ERA at night and 1-4, 2.40 during the day, lost his only game against the Giants, 3-1 in San Francisco on July 4 when he allowed a two-run homer to Angel Pagan and a solo shot to Buster Posey. Giants are 7-1 in their last 8 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game. |

09-06-16 | Tigers -110 v. White Sox | Top | 0-2 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 40 m | Show |
Tigers Miguel Cabrera became just the fourth player to hit 300 home runs in the storied history of the Detroit Tigers, and he looks to continue his hot streak Tuesday in the middle contest of a three-game set against the host Chicago White Sox. Cabrera went 4-for-5 with two homers in Monday's 5-3, 11-inning victory in the series opener and is 10-for-23 with three blasts during his five-game hitting streak. Boyd, who is making his 15th start of the season, has won five straight decisions. He did not factor in the decision against the White Sox on Aug. 29, when he gave up two runs and seven hits in four innings. Gonzalez is returning from a groin injury he suffered on Aug. 11. He was roughed up in a rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, giving up seven runs - six earned - and 11 hits over 4 1/3 innings, but has pronounced himself healthy. Gonzalez is 1-4 with a 9.00 ERA and .380 batting average against in eight career outings (six starts) versus the Tigers and has struggled against Cabrera (6-for-13, one homer). Tigers are 9-1 in their last 10 vs. American League Central.White Sox are 13-32 in their last 45 vs. American League Central. |

09-02-16 | Yankees +121 v. Orioles | Top | 0-8 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 31 m | Show |
Yankees Despite unloading a bevy of key players at the trade deadline, the New York Yankees are making a serious push for a playoff slot as they prepare to visit the slumping Baltimore Orioles on Friday in the opener of a three-game set. New York has won six of eight and trails the Orioles by 2 1/2 games for the second wild card in the American League. New York's offensive eruption allowed Green to escape with a no-decision against the Orioles last time out after he surrendered three homers and was charged with four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Green pitched superbly in his previous two turns, splitting a pair of decisions despite allowing one earned run and seven hits over 12 innings. Chris Davis is 0-for-13 since smacking a pair of homers off Green last Saturday. Bundy's struggles against New York continued when he lasted four innings and was touched for five runs on seven in last weekend's 13-5 debacle. It was the lone start and third appearance this season versus the Yankees for Bundy, who owns an 0-1 record and 9.39 ERA against them. |

09-02-16 | Cardinals -113 v. Reds | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -113 | 6 h 27 m | Show |
Cardinals The St. Louis Cardinals claimed a series victory in the first leg of five consecutive sets against National League Central representatives. After opening a nine-game road trip by taking two of three at Milwaukee, St. Louis will look to bolster its position for a sixth consecutive postseason berth on Friday when it begins a three-game set at the cellar-dwelling Cincinnati Reds. Reyes, who is considered a top prospect, is set to make his second career start with fellow hurler Mike Leake (shingles) on the disabled list. The 22-year-old struggled with his control on Saturday by issuing four walks in 4 2/3 innings of a no-decision against Oakland. Reyes limited the damage to just one run, which is the only blemish in his six appearances (14 innings) with Cardinals this season. DeSclafani recorded his first career shutout on Saturday after scattering four hits and striking out nine in a 13-0 rout of Arizona. The 26-year-old hopes that momentum carries into his start versus St. Louis, against which he was taken deep twice and allowed three runs in five innings of a 3-2 loss on Aug. 10. Matt Carpenter belted a solo shot in that contest and is 5-for-9 with two homers and three RBIs versus DeSclafani. |

09-01-16 | White Sox -113 v. Twins | Top | 5-8 | Loss | -113 | 7 h 12 m | Show |
White Sox The Minnesota Twins will be trying to avoid matching the worst losing streak in team history when they host the Chicago White Sox on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series. Minnesota's dismal skid reached 13 straight games -- the worst in the majors this season -- when it dropped an 8-4 decision to the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday. Quintana is 4-1 with a 1.81 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in eight starts since the All-Star break. He has allowed one earned run or fewer five times during the stretch, including Saturday's win over Seattle when he gave up two runs (one earned) and five hits in 7 2/3 innings. Quintana is 6-5 with a 3.76 ERA in 17 career starts against Minnesota and has gone 2-1 with a 2.36 ERA in four 2016 outings versus the Twins. Santana struggled against Toronto in his last start when he gave up six runs, five hits and five walks in 6 2/3 innings during a no-decision. He pitched well over his previous six outings as he went 3-2 with a 1.49 ERA and issued just six walks. Santana is 7-8 with a 3.84 ERA in 21 career appearances (20 starts) against the White Sox, including a 1-2 record and 3.86 ERA in three starts this season. 08-30-16 | Blue Jays -140 v. Orioles | Top | 3-5 | Loss | -140 | 7 h 7 m | Show |
Blue Jays J.A. Happ looks to rebound from his first defeat in more than 2 1/2 months when the visiting Toronto Blue Jays continue their three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. The Blue Jays extended their winning streak to four with a 5-1 win Monday night to move four games ahead of Baltimore atop the American League East. Happ, who has already established a career high in victories, can join Boston's Rick Porcello as the only 18-game winners in the majors. Red-hot Josh Donaldson is on a power binge with six homers and 11 RBIs in his last five games, giving the reigning league MVP 75 blasts in his first two seasons with Toronto. Happ allowed four runs for the second straight start and lasted only five innings in a 6-3 setback to the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday to absorb his first defeat since June 6. Happ beat the Orioles for the second time this season with an 11-strikeout gem on July 30, but he also surrendered three homers in an 11-6 win over Baltimore on June 11. Jimenez deserved a better fate in a spot start against the Washington Nationals last time out, taking the loss despite permitting one run on five hits over six innings. That performance earned another start for Jimenez, who hasn't won since posting back-to-back victories over San Diego in late June. He lasted one-third of an inning in an ugly start at Toronto on June 12 and was battered for five runs in relief five days later. Blue Jays are 21-5 in Happs last 26 starts vs. a team with a winning record.Orioles are 0-4 in Jimenezs last 4 starts.Blue Jays are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. |

08-27-16 | Indians -137 v. Rangers | Top | 0-7 | Loss | -137 | 5 h 33 m | Show |
Indians One day after snapping their losing streak, the Cleveland Indians look to make it two wins in a row when they visit the Texas Rangers on Saturday for the third contest of the four-game series between the division leaders. Cleveland, which owns a 4 1/2-game lead over Detroit in the American League Central, had lost three in a row before erupting for 17 hits in a 12-1 triumph on Friday. Carrasco is coming off a stellar outing at Oakland on Monday in which he struck out nine and scattered four hits over eight scoreless innings for his second straight victory. The 29-year-old Venezuelan has recorded eight or more strikeouts in each of his last four turns and has not issued a walk in the last three. Carrasco is 9-6 with a 3.12 ERA and 1.064 WHIP in 20 starts this season, including 6-3 with a 1.74 ERA and 0.772 WHIP in 10 road starts as he's clearly been at his best away from home. Griffin suffered his second straight loss last Saturday, when he gave up three runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings at Tampa Bay. The 28-year-old Californian allowed a total of 11 runs over his previous two outings overall and has surrendered six runs in two of his last three turns at home. Griffin has really been pummeled of late, going 0-2 with a 7.41 ERA and 1.705 WHIP in his last three starts. Look for the Indians to jump on him early and often tonight. Indians are 10-2 in Carrascos last 12 road starts vs. a team with a winning record.Rangers are 4-14 in their last 18 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game. |

Pirates The Pittsburgh Pirates aim for their seventh straight road victory when they continue a four-game series against the National League Central rival Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. The Pirates claimed the first two games of the set to bolster their postseason hopes after dropping five of six on their most recent homestand. Taillon has been the model of consistency in his rookie campaign, tossing eight straight quality starts and going at least six innings in 10 of his 12 outings. The 24-year-old took the loss last time out despite holding Houston to two runs and four hits over eight innings while recording a career-high eight strikeouts. Taillon already has faced the Brewers twice and has allowed three runs over 12 frames. Nelson snapped a streak of six straight losses when he beat Colorado last time out, limiting the Rockies to two runs and seven hits over six innings. The outing also marked the first time since July 16 that Nelson pitched into the sixth frame. Pirates are 6-0 in their last 6 road games.Brewers are 1-6 in Nelsons last 7 starts. |

08-26-16 | Cubs -118 v. Dodgers | Top | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 36 m | Show |
Cubs Two of the majors’ top young shortstops meet Friday as the Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game series against the visiting Chicago Cubs, who have won 22 of their past 27 games and stand 36 games over .500. The Dodgers’ Corey Seager is favored to win the NL Rookie of the Year award, while Chicago’s Addison Russell has homered five times in his last six games while being a defensive standout. The Cubs have built a commanding lead in the NL Central behind a deep lineup and a starting rotation that has gone 15-1 with a 1.83 ERA in 22 games this month, including 17 quality starts. Montgomery allowed one run over 4 1/3 innings against Colorado on Saturday in his first start since July 17 and made a strong impression on manager Joe Maddon. “I thought he was outstanding,” Maddon told reporters. “In the larger picture, we think he can be very, very helpful to us.” The 27-year-old was acquired from Seattle on July 20 and has gone 1-0 with a 0.87 ERA in his last five games covering 10 1/3 innings. Norris is rejoining the Dodgers rotation after allowing one run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning of relief Monday at Cincinnati. The 31-year-old has gone 3-3 with a 5.67 ERA since coming to the Dodgers on June 30 in a trade from Atlanta. The Cubs are on an absolute tear and I’ll back them tonight at this very cheap price. This is my NL Game of the Month! |

08-26-16 | Royals +154 v. Red Sox | Top | 6-3 | Win | 154 | 6 h 36 m | Show |
Royals Boston Red Sox knuckleballer Steven Wright looks to resume his breakthrough campaign when he comes off the disabled list to start the opener of a three-game series against the visiting Kansas City Royals on Friday night. Boston went 7-4 on its 11-game road trip after ending the trek with consecutive one-run losses at Tampa Bay. Kennedy turned in another stellar outing for KC in a dominating performance against Minnesota on Saturday, tossing eight scoreless innings of four-hit ball and not walking a batter. During a five-start unbeaten streak, the 31-year-old has yielded a mere three runs and 22 hits over 34 innings. Kennedy gave up two runs over 5 2/3 innings of a no-decision in his second career start against the Red Sox on May 18.Kansas City's bullpen has not allowed a run in 38 2/3 innings -- the longest streak since San Francisco's 39 1/3-inning run in 2002-03. Wright improved to 5-0 over his last seven starts by blanking the Los Angeles Dodgers on three hits Aug. 5 for his fourth complete game of the season. The soon-to-be 32-year-old Californian went the distance in a losing effort at Kansas City on May 18, giving up three runs and five hits in the 3-2 setback. Even though he is unbeaten since June 25, Wright has been tagged for 20 runs in his last four home starts. There is great value here with the Royals as a nice underdog. |

08-25-16 | Indians v. Rangers -150 | Top | 0-9 | Win | 100 | 6 h 20 m | Show |
Rangers It's been a memorable season for the Cleveland Indians, but manager Terry Francona would like his club to forget the most recent series entering a four-game showdown at the Texas Rangers on Thursday night. After opening a seven-game road trip with a 1-0 win at Oakland on Monday, the Indians were outscored 14-2 while dropping the final two contests. Tomlin failed to get through five innings for the third time during his four-start skid when he was battered by Toronto for six runs on nine hits, including three homers, over 4 1/3 innings. Tomlin has surrendered a major league-worst 32 homers, including at least one in 13 consecutive starts. He lasted only 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers on May 30, giving up eight runs (four earned) on nine hits. Hamels registered his fifth straight quality start by limiting Tampa Bay to one run and three hits while striking out 10. It was the sixth time in seven outings that he has yielded two runs or fewer, although he was rattled for 14 hits in a 2-0 loss versus Detroit in his previous turn. Indians are 0-5 in Tomlins last 5 starts vs. a team with a winning record.Rangers are 14-3 in Hamels' last 17 home starts. |

08-24-16 | Tigers -105 v. Twins | Top | 9-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 58 m | Show |
Tigers With Justin Upton heating up and recent acquisition Erick Aybar settling in at shortstop, the Detroit Tigers are showing some serious thump in the middle of their lineup. The Tigers have amassed 18 runs and 24 hits in back-to-back victories and look to send the host Minnesota Twins to their sixth consecutive defeat Wednesday night. Boyd has not lost in eight appearances (seven starts) since his recall from the minors last month, keeping the unbeaten streak intact with six innings of one-run ball versus Boston in a no-decision last time out. The 25-year-old won his fourth straight decision in his previous turn, blanking Texas on two hits over seven innings. He beat the Twins with six scoreless innings of three-hit ball on July 18. Duffey's three-start winning streak ended with a thud at Kansas City on Thursday, when he lasted only 3 2/3 innings and surrendered five runs on only two hits -- one a grand slam. The long ball has been problematic for Duffey, who has given up 20 homers in 112 1/3 innings after allowing only four in 58 innings in 2015. Tigers are 8-2 in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.Twins are 0-7 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning record. |

08-24-16 | Red Sox -142 v. Rays | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -142 | 7 h 58 m | Show |
Red Sox The Boston Red Sox are surging at just the right time and have moved a season-high 17 games over .500 while remaining tied for first place in the American League East. The Red Sox will try to clinch a series win when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays for the third of a four-game series on Wednesday. Boston has won 10 of its last 12 games and has seen a complete turnaround from a pitching staff that was the weak point of the team during the first four months of the season. Porcello is quietly joining the Cy Young Award conversation in the AL and has gone at least seven innings in each of his last five outings – all quality starts. The New Jersey native breezed past his former team on Friday by scattering two runs – one earned – and four hits over seven innings while striking out eight in Detroit. Porcello is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA in three starts against the Rays this season; including six innings of one-run ball at Tampa Bay on June 28. Andriese failed to make it through six innings in any of his four starts since rejoining the rotation and suffered the loss in each of the last three. The California native, who turns 27 next week, surrendered a total of 14 runs and 21 hits – seven home runs – over 15 innings in those three losses. Red Sox are 13-3 in Porcellos last 16 starts with 4 days of rest. Red Sox are 6-1 in Porcellos last 7 starts vs. Rays. Rays are 0-8 in Andrieses last 8 starts vs. a team with a winning record. |

08-24-16 | Angels v. Blue Jays -160 | Top | 8-2 | Loss | -160 | 7 h 53 m | Show |
Blue Jays A return to the Rogers Centre got the Toronto Blue Jays back on track while the Los Angeles Angels continue to remain off the rails on the road this season. The Blue Jays will vie for their sixth straight victory over the Angels and hope to hand their ailing adversary a 12th consecutive road loss on Wednesday when the clubs play the second contest of their three-game set. Russell Martin has prospered regardless of venue of late, collecting three hits in Tuesday's 7-2 rout for his sixth multi-hit performance in seven games. The 33-year-old Ontario native has heated up in August, going 20-for-64 with seven homers, 14 RBIs and 12 runs as the Blue Jays continue to battle with fellow American League East co-leader Boston. Toronto hasn't endured much of a battle in recent encounters with Los Angeles, outscoring it by a 51-16 margin over the last five meetings. The Angels appear to be making themselves comfortable in the cellar of the AL West with losses in 15 of their last 18 games. Shoemaker recorded his second win in six outings on Thursday after allowing two runs - both solo homers - on five hits in seven innings of a 6-4 triumph over Seattle. The 29-year-old has worked at six frames in each of his last seven starts, but his track record on the road leaves plenty to be desired. Shoemaker has dropped each of his last four starts away from home to fall to 3-9 with a 5.09 ERA while allowing the opposition to bat .296 against him. Estrada was done in by the long ball on Aug. 16, as he surrendered three homers and five runs total over four innings of a no-decision at Yankee Stadium. The outing was the shortest of the season for the 33-year-old, and marked the first time since May 14 that he's permitted more than three earned runs. Estrada will look to rebound at the Rogers Centre, where he has limited the opposition to a stingy .185 batting average. Lay it with the Jays. |

08-23-16 | Royals +111 v. Marlins | Top | 1-0 | Win | 111 | 6 h 12 m | Show |
Royals The Kansas City Royals moved back into the playoff race with a dazzling 13-2 run and look to continue the surge when they visit the Miami Marlins on Tuesday for the opener of a three-game set. The Royals have won eight straight - allowing nine runs over the last seven - while Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon and Eric Hosmer are all making major contributions with the bats. Ventura is 2-0 with a 2.52 ERA over his last four starts and has limited eight consecutive opponents to three or fewer runs despite a 2-3 record in that span. The 25-year-old Dominican Republic native boasts 16 strikeouts and three walks in the last two outings. Ventura faces the Marlins for the first time Cashner makes his sixth start for the Marlins since the trade and is looking for his first victory, allowing 14 runs over 21 1/3 innings during the first five. The 29-year-old TCU product is 4-4 with a 3.70 ERA in home games this season with Miami and San Diego. Kendrys Morales is 2-for-3 with a homer against Cashner, who lost his only meeting with Kansas City in 2014 after giving up four runs (two earned) in four innings. Royals are 19-7 in Venturas last 26 starts with 5 days of rest.Marlins are 2-8 in their last 10 vs. American League Central. |

08-20-16 | Twins v. Royals -175 | Top | 0-10 | Win | 100 | 5 h 42 m | Show |
Royals Ian Kennedy has turned in four consecutive good starts and the Kansas City Royals will be hoping for another from the veteran right-hander when they resume their four-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night. The Minnesota Twins will be looking for a similar outing from Hector Santiago after the teams weathered more than a three-hour delay in Friday's 11-inning marathon. Santiago won seven consecutive decisions and racked up 10 victories with the Los Angeles Angels, but he has come up empty in his three starts since he was traded to the Twins. He lasted only four innings in his last outing against Kansas City and was shelled for seven runs on nine hits. Kennedy has pitched superbly in his last four outings, although he has only one win to show for it, beating Detroit on Monday with 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball. Kennedy did not factor in the decision in each of his previous three turns despite allowing a combined two runs and 13 hits over 19 1/3 innings. He tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings versus Minnesota on April 9 and gave up two runs in 3 1/3 innings versus the Twins on May 23. I’ll go with Kennedy and the Royals in this spot. |

08-20-16 | Blue Jays -101 v. Indians | Top | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 37 m | Show |
Blue Jays Russell Martin struggled with his power game on the heels of a career-best 23-homer season in 2015, but the veteran sure is making up for lost time. With five blasts in as many contests, Martin looks to continue his power surge on Saturday as the visiting Toronto Blue Jays attempt to rebound from a disastrous series-opening loss to the Cleveland Indians. Sanchez yielded two runs or fewer for the ninth time in his last 10 outings last Saturday after tossing seven innings in a 4-2 triumph over Houston. While that performance came at Rogers Centre, the 24-year-old has made himself at home on the road with a stellar 7-1 mark to go along with a 2.40 ERA and 1.10 WHIP while limiting the opposition to a .225 batting average. Mike Napoli (seven RBIs in his last nine games overall) is hitless in five at-bats versus Sanchez, who won his lone start versus Cleveland and tossed one inning of scoreless relief in his last encounter. Tomlin returns from the Family Emergency list on the heels of losing each of his last three starts and five of seven since early July. The 31-year-old answered a pair of disastrous seven-run outings by yielding just three in 7 2/3 innings in a hard-luck 3-2 loss to Boston on Monday. I’m backing Sanchez here on the road. |

08-19-16 | Yankees -140 v. Angels | Top | 7-0 | Win | 100 | 8 h 26 m | Show |
Yankees The New York Yankees still have aspirations for a wild card in the American League but have a lot of work to do in order to capture the spot. They will have a chance to get closer to their goal when they take to the road to begin a three-game series against the struggling Los Angeles Angels on Friday. The Yankees will send out their ace Masahiro Tanaka, who has a strong 3.46 ERA and 1.096 WHIP in 24 starts. Tanaka has been at his best on the road, where he has a 2.65 ERA in 11 starts. He also owns a 2.70 ERA and 1.275 WHIP in 2 career starts against the Angels, both wins. LA counters with Jered Weaver, who has a 5.32 ERA and 1.504 WHIP in 23 starts. Weaver has been torched of late, giving up 9 runs on 18 hits and 4 walks (only 3 strikeouts) in his last 2 starts. He also owns an ugly 6.04 ERA and 1.444 WHIP in 17 career starts against New York. Yankees are 12-3 in their last 15 vs. American League West and are 6-0 in Tanakas last 6 road starts vs. a team with a losing record.Angels are 1-7 in Weavers last 8 starts following a team loss in their previous game. |

08-19-16 | Rangers -131 v. Rays | Top | 6-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 29 m | Show |
Rangers The first-place Texas Rangers enjoy a comfortable lead in the American League West as they embark on a five-game road trip beginning Friday with the first of three against the Tampa Bay Rays, and their new catcher has played a major role in keeping them ahead of the pack. Jonathan Lucroy, who was acquired from Milwaukee at the Aug. 1 trade deadline, has seven home runs and 14 RBIs in 15 games since arriving, and made an immediate impact with the pitching staff. The Rangers will have their ace Cole Hamels on the mound, who is 12-4 with a 2.88 ERA in 24 starts and he's been outstanding on the road, where he's 8-2 with a 1.97 ERA in 13 starts. Tampa Bay starts Matt Andriese who is coming into this one in bad form, posting a 6.58 ERA in his last 3 starts. He faces a red-hot Rangers offense that just put up 16 runs on 27 hits in a 3-game sweep of the A's. Rangers are 10-1 in their last 11 vs. a team with a losing record and are 17-4 in Hamels' last 21 starts vs. a team with a losing record.Rangers are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. |

08-19-16 | Marlins +175 v. Pirates | Top | 6-5 | Win | 175 | 5 h 23 m | Show |
Marlins Just as they appeared ready to slide into the Allegheny River, the Pittsburgh Pirates have come alive and surged back into postseason contention in the National League. Riding a four-game winning streak and coming off a 5-1 road trip, the Pirates will host another wild-card contender in the Miami Marlins on Friday night in the opener of a three-game set. Koehler stretched his unbeaten streak to five starts in a no-decision versus the Chicago White Sox last time out, giving up three runs on six hits over six innings. The 30-year-old Koehler was outstanding in his previous four turns, allowing a combined two runs and only 12 hits over 27 innings. Cole is coming off an ugly performance at the Los Angeles Dodgers, when he was tagged for six runs on a season-high 12 hits over 4 1/3 innings. Cole, who has not surrendered a home run in his last 10 appearances, also lost his previous turn versus Cincinnati after giving up four runs in 5 2/3 innings. He took the loss at Miami on May 31, yielding three runs on nine hits to fall to 2-2 with a 3.58 ERA versus the Marlins. I see great value with Miami as a nice underdog. |

08-18-16 | Astros +119 v. Orioles | Top | 5-13 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 23 m | Show |
Astros Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch hasn't enjoyed the ride on which his team has been during its four-game losing streak. Outscored by a gaudy 29-11 margin during the skid, the Astros look to turn the tide on Thursday as they open a four-game series against the host Baltimore Orioles. Musgrove secured his first career victory while recording his second straight quality start on Friday, allowing two runs in seven innings of a 5-3 win at Toronto. The triumph was especially sweet for the 23-year-old, who was drafted by the Blue Jays in 2011. Musgrove struck out seven in that contest and has fanned 13 batters while walking one over his last two outings.Astros are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings. Gausman has yielded two runs in each of his last three outings and matched a season high with nine strikeouts on Saturday in a 6-2 setback at San Francisco. The 25-year-old only lasted four innings, however, as six walks drove up his pitch count. Gausman struggled in his lone career start versus Houston, surrendering three homers and four runs overall in five innings of a 4-2 loss on May 26.Baltimore is just 11-19 against AL West representatives this season.Orioles are 2-8 in Gausmans last 10 starts vs. American League West. |

08-17-16 | Royals -102 v. Tigers | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 11 m | Show |
Royals The Kansas City Royals are doing a fine job of playing spoiler while the Detroit Tigers drift down the standings. The Royals will try to wrap up a three-game sweep and push the Tigers even further away from a postseason spot when they visit Detroit for the series finale on Wednesday. The Tigers are having serious trouble getting the bats working, and the slump has dropped them six games behind the Cleveland Indians in the American League Central and 3 1/2 games back of the Boston Red Sox in the race for the second AL wild card. Detroit has dropped seven of its last nine games – scoring one or no runs in five of those setbacks – and could be without star Miguel Cabrera (strained biceps) on Wednesday after he missed Tuesday's contest. The Royals are still one game under .500 but are winners of three straight and eight of their last 10 games. The Kansas City staff held the Tigers to a total of two runs in the first two games of the series and sends Yordano Ventura to the mound on Wednesday. Ventura is coming off back-to-back wins and allowed three runs or fewer in seven straight starts. The Dominican Republic native struck out nine in seven innings at Minnesota on Friday while allowing three runs and four hits. Ventura is 6-0 with a 3.18 ERA in nine career games against the Tigers and was held out of the decision at Detroit on July 17 despite scattering two runs over seven frames. Sanchez is trying to bounce back from a terrible outing in which he was ripped for eight runs on eight hits – four home runs – and a pair of walks in four-plus innings at Texas on Friday. The Venezuela native allowed a total of two runs in 14 innings over his previous two starts. Sanchez worked 2 1/3 innings of relief at Kansas City on June 18 and went 1-2 with a 6.20 ERA in four starts against the Royals in 2015. |

Royals The Royals have won four of their last five contests to move within four games of .500 but are a distant 6 1/2 behind Boston for the American League's second wild card. Cheslor Cuthbert has enjoyed a solid emergence and ranks second among AL rookies with 24 multi-hit performances and a .303 average. The Twins allowed 35 hits on Thursday and were outscored 25-9 while losing a doubleheader to Houston. Yordano Ventura is 10-2 in his career starts during August and 2-0 with 2.25 ERA last two team starts in this series. Ventura is 2-3 with a 3.86 ERA in six career starts against the Twins and has shut down Joe Mauer (1-for-11) while struggling with Dozier (5-for-14). Kyle Gibson is 1-3 last four team starts in this series and is off a game in which he pitched 5 innings while allowing 6 hits and 4 walks in a 6-3 win at Tampa Bay in his last start last Sunday. He hasn't experienced much success in his home ballpark this season as he is just 1-4 with a 4.20 ERA in eight outings. Royals are 5-1 in Venturas last 6 road starts vs. a team with a losing record.Twins are 11-27 in their last 38 vs. a team with a losing record. |

08-10-16 | White Sox -104 v. Royals | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -104 | 9 h 40 m | Show |
White Sox Jose Quintana has won nine games in each of the last three seasons and will look to reach double-digit victories for the first time when the Chicago White Sox continue their three-game set against the host Kansas City Royals. The White Sox won the series opener 7-5 behind Todd Frazier's tiebreaking three-run homer in the 10th inning.Quintana lost six consecutive starts while receiving a total of eight runs of support earlier this season, but he is 4-0 since July 3 thanks to some increased offensive support. Quintana stretched his unbeaten string to six starts -- a span in which he is 4-0 -- by allowing three runs over 7 1/3 innings to pick up the victory at Detroit on Thursday. Since tossing a scoreless frame in his first All-Star Game appearance, Quintana is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA over his last four turns. Quintana notched a season high-tying 10 strikeouts versus the Royals on June 11 but gave up three runs in eight innings. Kennedy has been unable to buy a victory, watching his winless drought reach seven starts despite a superb performance in a no-decision at Tampa Bay last time out. He struck out nine and allowed one hit over six scoreless frames, which followed seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision at Texas in his previous turn. Kennedy fell to 1-1 with a 6.17 ERA against the White Sox when he was rocked for four homers and seven runs at Chicago on June 10. White Sox are 4-1 in Quintanas last 5 road starts.Royals are 0-7 in Kennedys last 7 starts. |

08-09-16 | White Sox -122 v. Royals | Top | 7-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 44 m | Show |
White Sox Coming off their first series win since June, the Kansas City Royals attempt to maintain a pulse in the postseason chase when they host the skidding Chicago White Sox on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game set. The reigning World Series champions won the final two games against Toronto over the weekend, allowing a combined three runs in the two victories. PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Chris Sale (14-5, 3.12 ERA) vs. Royals RH Edinson Vólquez (8-10, 4.99) Sale's run of hard-luck decisions continued in his last outing, when he came out on the short end of a 2-1 decision at Detroit despite striking out 10 and permitting two runs on six hits over eight innings. He has allowed four runs and 13 hits over 22 innings in his last three starts, but has received a combined five runs of offensive support. Look for that to improve tonight. Volquez was rocked for the second straight outing -- both on the road -- at Tampa Bay on Wednesday, giving up eight runs (seven earned) and 11 hits, including a pair of homers. He also was tagged for a pair of home runs while surrendering six runs over six innings in a loss at Texas on July 29. White Sox are 12-4 in Sales last 16 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.Royals are 0-8 in their last 8 games vs. a left-handed starter. I’ll lay the small price with Sale’s tonight. |

Marlins PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Matt Moore (7-7, 4.04 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Tom Koehler (8-8, 4.05) Moore appeared to suffer from a massive case of nerves in his first start with his new team. Acquired from Tampa Bay at the trade deadline, the 27-year-old issued six walks in as many innings of a no-decision at Philadelphia on Thursday. Moore owns a 2-0 career record versus Miami but has been taken deep twice among the 15 hits he's allowed in 11 innings en route to a 7.36 ERA at Marlins Park. Koehler recorded his third straight strong outing on Wednesday as he yielded one run and five hits in six innings of a no-decision versus the Chicago Cubs. The 30-year-old, who was in line for the victory before a leaky bullpen let him down, has allowed two earned runs in his last 20 frames while striking out 17 and issuing just three walks. Koehler looks to continue his strong surge versus San Francisco, against which he is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA while limiting the club to just a .206 batting average. 08-06-16 | Blue Jays -134 v. Royals | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -134 | 5 h 7 m | Show |
Blue Jays The Toronto Blue Jays elected against shuffling Aaron Sanchez to the bullpen and kept the 24-year-old in a now six-man rotation as the club attempts to continue its pursuit of the penthouse in the American League East. Sanchez, who has worked a career-high 139 1/3 innings this season, will look to keep an unblemished road record intact on Saturday as the Blue Jays vie for their fifth straight win and a series victory versus the Kansas City Royals. Sanchez settled for a no-decision on Sunday despite allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings against Baltimore. The promising hurler owns a 7-0 mark on the road and 8-1 performance at night this season while winning 10 straight decisions since recording his lone loss on April 22. Included in that dominant stretch is a stellar 6-2 victory against Kansas City on July 4, as he allowed one run on three hits in eight strong innings. Duffy sparkling at home (3-0), although his struggles versus Toronto leave plenty to be desired. Duffy is just 1-3 in his career against the Blue Jays and has yielded 16 runs on 23 hits and 17 walks in 20 2/3 innings. |

08-05-16 | Mets v. Tigers -118 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 53 m | Show |
Tigers The surging Detroit Tigers continue their pursuit of the top spot in the American League Central when they host the New York Mets on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series. Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander, who was unbeaten in six starts last month, squares off with Mets fireballer Noah Syndergaard in the series opener. Syndergaard again struggled with his command as his winless drought reached four starts when he gave up two earned runs over six innings in a no-decision versus Colorado. He also allowed two earned runs over six frames in his previous start against St. Louis, but threw a combined 232 pitches in those two outings, but has one win since it was reported that he is pitching with a bone spur in his elbow. Verlander is coming off a dominant performance against Houston, striking out a season-high 11 batters while recording his first nine-inning complete game of the year. A .500 pitcher for much of the season, Verlander has permitted a combined 10 runs while going 4-0 over his last six outings. His ability to keep the ball in the park has big a been reason for the turnaround -- Verlander has allowed one homer during the unbeaten streak. Mets are 1-10 in their last 11 games following a win.Tigers are 8-2 in Verlanders last 10 starts vs. a team with a winning record. |
