The Houston Rockets may not look like an automatic playoff hopeful, but they’re coming off a big win over the Eastern Conference’s consensus second-best squad, the Toronto Raptors. The Philadelphia 76ers, on the other hand, haven’t won a game since Feb. 6.
These teams tip off at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 7:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 9.
James Harden is on an absolute tear. His defense is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, but his scoring attack proves he’s willing — and more importantly able — to put the Houston Rockets on his back in the team’s chase for a spot in the postseason.
Against Philly, the key is simple: Take care of the basketball. The Sixers are a middle-of-the-road team in terms of forcing turnovers, but that’s about as much of a compliment as they have been able to earn this season.
Conversely, Houston coughs the ball up 15.6 times per contest — the fourth-worst mark in the Association.
Quite frankly, there’s no reason Houston should lose this game, but then again, this group has been far from reliable so far this season.
I guess that’s why they play the game.
The Philadelphia 76ers had a moment that looked like clarity earlier this season when the moves to bring in Jerry Colangelo and surprisingly enough Ish Smith gave this team more than just “The Process” to be hopeful for.
As it turns out, these are still the same Sixers.
Having not won since Feb. 6, there’s little reason to believe in this group on a nightly basis. Making matters worse, Jahlil Okafor hasn’t played since Feb. 28.
Although there’s no guarantee the rookie big man participates in Wednesday’s showdown, his absence isn’t expected to last much longer.
Unfortunately, he was not seen by media during Tuesday’s shootaround, which makes it difficult to bank on his return happening against the Rockets.

Free Houston Rockets vs. Philadelphia 76ers Prediction
With Okafor still questionable and the Sixers still, well, the Sixers, give this one to the Rockets.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Rockets ATS
James Harden will be too much to handle, and Houston should walk away with a rather large win.
