2027 Stanley Cup Championship Odds and NHL Futures
2027 Stanley Cup Championship odds put Carolina at the top of the board, but that doesn’t automatically make the Hurricanes the best bet. The 2026-27 NHL season is underway, and October hockey has a habit of making ordinary teams look dangerous and good teams look broken.
There’s an 84-game regular season ahead. One hot goaltender or a miserable road trip won’t tell us who’s lifting the Cup in June.
NHL Handicapper
I’ve watched plenty of bettors fall in love with the biggest names on the ice. McDavid can dominate a game, MacKinnon can tear apart a defense, and Florida can make life miserable for anybody when healthy. But a championship ticket needs four playoff series to go right. The price matters.
Last 10 Stanley Cup Champions (2017–2026)
Here’s how the last 10 Stanley Cup Finals finished, including the winning team, runner-up and number of games played.
- 2026 — Carolina Hurricanes: Defeated Vegas Golden Knights, 4–2 (6 games).
- 2025 — Florida Panthers: Defeated Edmonton Oilers, 4–2 (6 games).
- 2024 — Florida Panthers: Defeated Edmonton Oilers, 4–3 (7 games).
- 2023 — Vegas Golden Knights: Defeated Florida Panthers, 4–1 (5 games).
- 2022 — Colorado Avalanche: Defeated Tampa Bay Lightning, 4–2 (6 games).
- 2021 — Tampa Bay Lightning: Defeated Montreal Canadiens, 4–1 (5 games).
- 2020 — Tampa Bay Lightning: Defeated Dallas Stars, 4–2 (6 games).
- 2019 — St. Louis Blues: Defeated Boston Bruins, 4–3 (7 games).
- 2018 — Washington Capitals: Defeated Vegas Golden Knights, 4–1 (5 games).
- 2017 — Pittsburgh Penguins: Defeated Nashville Predators, 4–2 (6 games).
Only two of those 10 Finals reached Game 7. Florida and Tampa Bay each won consecutive Cups, while eight of the 10 champions finished the job in six games or fewer.
2027 Stanley Cup Championship Odds
Carolina enters as the defending champion and favorite at +600, followed by Colorado +700, Florida +750 and Edmonton +800. All four have championship credentials.
That doesn’t mean all four are worth betting.
Here’s the complete 32-team futures board. The profit column excludes your original $100 bet, which is returned if the ticket wins. These are reference prices for this breakdown; sportsbooks may post different numbers.
| NHL Team | Stanley Cup Odds | $100 Profit |
|---|---|---|
| Carolina Hurricanes | +600 | $600 |
| Colorado Avalanche | +700 | $700 |
| Florida Panthers | +750 | $750 |
| Edmonton Oilers | +800 | $800 |
| Vegas Golden Knights | +900 | $900 |
| Tampa Bay Lightning | +1000 | $1,000 |
| Washington Capitals | +1100 | $1,100 |
| Minnesota Wild | +1200 | $1,200 |
| Dallas Stars | +1400 | $1,400 |
| Utah Mammoth | +1900 | $1,900 |
| Ottawa Senators | +2200 | $2,200 |
| Montreal Canadiens | +2500 | $2,500 |
| New Jersey Devils | +2500 | $2,500 |
| Buffalo Sabres | +3000 | $3,000 |
| Toronto Maple Leafs | +3500 | $3,500 |
| Anaheim Ducks | +4500 | $4,500 |
| Los Angeles Kings | +5000 | $5,000 |
| San Jose Sharks | +5500 | $5,500 |
| Boston Bruins | +6500 | $6,500 |
| Columbus Blue Jackets | +7500 | $7,500 |
| Pittsburgh Penguins | +9000 | $9,000 |
| New York Rangers | +10000 | $10,000 |
| Winnipeg Jets | +11000 | $11,000 |
| Philadelphia Flyers | +14000 | $14,000 |
| St. Louis Blues | +15000 | $15,000 |
| New York Islanders | +18000 | $18,000 |
| Nashville Predators | +18000 | $18,000 |
| Seattle Kraken | +25000 | $25,000 |
| Detroit Red Wings | +30000 | $30,000 |
| Chicago Blackhawks | +60000 | $60,000 |
| Calgary Flames | +100000 | $100,000 |
| Vancouver Canucks | +100000 | $100,000 |
Odds reference: October 2026. Prices may differ by sportsbook and are subject to change.
Carolina pays $600 profit on a winning $100 bet. Seattle pays $25,000, but that bigger return comes with a far tougher championship path.
A massive payout isn’t automatically a bargain.
2027 Stanley Cup Favorites: Who Deserves the Short Odds?
Carolina Hurricanes (+600)
Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov and Carolina’s supporting cast give Rod Brind’Amour a balanced attack. The Hurricanes can win without depending on one player to carry every shift.
Jordan Staal’s calf injury and Taylor Hall’s upper-body issue complicate the early picture. At +600, Carolina needs a championship probability above 14.29% to offer positive expected value.
I’m not questioning Carolina’s ability to repeat.
I’m questioning whether that ability justifies the shortest number on the board.
Razor’s call: Pass at +600. I’ll reconsider if the price improves.
Colorado Avalanche (+700)
Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar give Colorado two elite difference-makers. MacKinnon’s 53-goal season showed what he can do, while Makar remains a matchup problem from the blue line.
Mackenzie Blackwood’s early inconsistency deserves attention.
Colorado’s offense can cover mistakes during the regular season, but a shaky night in goal carries a different cost during a playoff elimination game. That’s the concern behind my reluctance to buy the current number.
Razor’s call: My strongest championship contender among the favorites. I’d prefer +800 before buying.
Florida Panthers (+750)
Florida’s championship pedigree is established. Its physical play and Aleksander Barkov’s two-way ability helped produce consecutive titles.
Barkov missed the entire 2025-26 season, returned this fall and suffered another lower-body injury in October. His initial recovery estimate was six to eight weeks.
That makes Florida’s health picture a legitimate pricing concern.
Razor’s call: Wait for a healthier lineup or longer odds.
Edmonton Oilers (+800)
Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard can overwhelm opponents offensively. Bouchard opened the season with 14 points through six games, including six goals, while Edmonton started strongly despite missing Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
But the Oilers’ goaltending still needs to earn my trust.
It’s one thing to score four goals in October. It’s another to protect a 2-1 lead when a playoff opponent is throwing everything at you.
Razor’s call: Capable of winning at +800, but I’m waiting for greater confidence in goal.
Razor’s read: A championship roster can still be overpriced. I don’t get paid for identifying October’s best hockey team. I get paid when the number beats its realistic chance of winning in June.
2027 Stanley Cup Championship Contenders Beyond the Favorites
Vegas Golden Knights (+900)
Vegas reached the 2026 Final, and Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner and an experienced roster make another run believable. That postseason experience matters when a series turns ugly.
Still, +900 is only a modest improvement over Edmonton’s +800.
Vegas makes my shortlist, not my betting card.
Tampa Bay Lightning (+1000)
Nikita Kucherov provides elite offense, while Andrei Vasilevskiy has already proven he can handle championship pressure. Tampa’s early scoring has lagged behind last season, but this team has more than one way to win.
At +1000, the Lightning interest me more than several shorter-priced clubs. They’re worth monitoring if their five-on-five scoring improves.
Washington Capitals (+1100)
Washington’s offseason additions, including Alex Tuch, have lifted expectations. The Capitals were available at substantially longer futures prices earlier, so bettors buying +1100 now receive a much smaller return.
I’m not chasing that move.
Washington needs more consistent five-on-five control before I pay this price.
Minnesota Wild (+1200)
Kirill Kaprizov gives Minnesota the finishing ability to punish defensive mistakes, while Quinn Hughes changes how the Wild escape pressure. His puck movement can turn a difficult defensive shift into an attacking opportunity before opponents get organized.
That combination matters against Colorado and Dallas, where getting trapped in your own zone can ruin a series. Minnesota still needs dependable secondary scoring and goaltending when its stars are contained. Hughes’ contract situation also deserves attention.
At +1200, the Wild need a championship probability above 7.69% to justify a bet. I can make a case for that price with this roster, although I wouldn’t chase it below +1000.
Dallas Stars (+1400)
Mikko Rantanen, Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston and Miro Heiskanen give Dallas enough talent to compete with anybody. The early power-play slump is worth watching, although a short scoring drought doesn’t erase the group’s ability.
At +1400, Dallas offers a better payout than the favorites.
I want to see more consistent execution before moving from interest to a bet.
2027 Stanley Cup Championship Longshots Worth Considering
Utah Mammoth (+1900)
Clayton Keller, Logan Cooley and Mikhail Sergachev give Utah a promising foundation. The Mammoth gained playoff experience last season, and their offensive development makes another step plausible.
The question is whether that young core can handle a veteran opponent controlling the neutral zone for seven games. Utah hasn’t proven that yet.
Razor’s call: My preferred speculative longshot at +1900, with a small play.
Ottawa Senators (+2200)
Linus Ullmark has provided outstanding early goaltending, but Ottawa’s five-on-five expected-goal share has been below 43%. That’s a warning about how often the Senators are allowing opponents to control dangerous chances.
Ullmark can steal games.
I won’t count on him stealing four playoff series. Pass at +2200.
Montreal Canadiens (+2500)
Montreal reached last season’s Eastern Conference Final, and Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov provide considerable skill. The Canadiens have moved beyond being a purely developmental story.
Jakub Dobes’ difficult start and an inconsistent power play give me pause.
I want steadier goaltending before buying +2500.
New Jersey Devils (+2500)
Jack Hughes gives New Jersey offensive upside, but the early penalty killing and goaltending have raised concerns. Playoff opponents are very good at attacking the same weakness repeatedly.
I’ll pass until the Devils show better defensive reliability.
Boston Bruins (+6500) and Seattle Kraken (+25000)
Boston’s encouraging start and David Pastrnak’s scoring make +6500 worth monitoring. The Bruins still need to prove their depth against stronger opponents.
Seattle has also shown early improvement.
But at +25000, I still can’t make a convincing case for the Kraken surviving four playoff rounds.
Razor’s read: I like a longshot with a credible way to beat good teams. A giant payout by itself doesn’t qualify.
How the NHL Playoffs Change Stanley Cup Futures Betting
Sixteen teams qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The top three teams in each division advance, with two additional wild-card teams from each conference. The champion must win four best-of-seven series.
That structure makes matchups important. A team that scores freely against weak regular-season opponents may struggle when a playoff rival takes away its preferred entries and forces offense from the bottom six.
And remember what your ticket actually needs.
Edmonton winning the Western Conference won’t cash an Oilers Stanley Cup championship bet.

Five Questions Before Betting NHL Futures
Before buying a championship ticket, I run through five questions that help distinguish genuine improvement from a temporary hot streak.
- Is the team’s current form sustainable?
Check five-on-five play, shooting percentages and goaltending. Ottawa’s early results deserve scrutiny because its expected-goal share has lagged behind its record. - Can the roster withstand an 84-game schedule?
Back-to-backs, travel and uneven rest can expose shallow teams. Injuries become harder to manage when replacements can’t handle meaningful minutes. - Is the goaltending dependable?
Look beyond a few October starts. A goalie facing repeated high-danger chances may struggle even when his early save percentage looks excellent. - Does the payout justify the risk?
Estimate a team’s championship chance, then compare it with the break-even percentage. Don’t confuse a bigger payout with better value. - Can I afford to tie up this money until June?
Keep futures exposure modest and preserve enough bankroll for regular-season bets. A promising longshot isn’t worth draining money you may need before the playoffs.
When Should You Bet Stanley Cup Futures?
There’s no automatic best month to bet the 2027 Stanley Cup Championship. Early prices come with more uncertainty, while waiting until January or the trade deadline gives you a clearer picture of roster health and performance.
I prefer to act when a sportsbook overreacts to a temporary slump. A team that’s still controlling chances may offer value after several unlucky losses.
A major injury to a franchise player is a different story. Sometimes the longer odds are entirely deserved.
Also consider how long the money stays committed. Futures may remain unsettled for months, and cash-out options aren’t guaranteed. Check the operator’s settlement and cancellation rules before betting.

Who won the 2026 Stanley Cup?
Carolina defeated Vegas in six games and finished the playoffs 16-3.
How does a Stanley Cup championship futures bet work?
You select a team to win the Stanley Cup. The team must win the championship for the ticket to cash, subject to the sportsbook’s applicable rules.
What does a $100 bet at +600 pay?
A winning $100 bet earns $600 profit and returns $700 including the original bet.
Can I bet on a team just to reach the Stanley Cup Final?
Yes. Conference championship and Final appearance bets may be offered separately. Check the precise bet description before placing it.
Is it better to bet Stanley Cup futures early or wait?
Early bets may secure longer odds. Waiting gives you more information about injuries, roster changes and team performance. The better decision depends on the price.

No. Standings determine qualification and affect playoff matchups and home ice. The champion still has to win four playoff series.
Razor’s 2027 Stanley Cup Championship Predictions
Carolina deserves favorite status, Colorado has the talent to win, and Edmonton can overwhelm opponents offensively. But Minnesota and Utah offer more interesting prices on this board.
The Wild have established stars at +1200. Utah’s +1900 offers a larger return, although the Mammoth still have plenty to prove.
- Best championship contender: Colorado Avalanche (+700)
MacKinnon and Makar provide an elite foundation. I’d prefer +800 or better before betting. - Best value to consider: Minnesota Wild (+1200)
Kaprizov and Hughes give Minnesota a legitimate championship path at a more appealing number. - Speculative longshot: Utah Mammoth (+1900)
The young core is improving, but its playoff ceiling remains unproven. Keep the bet small. - Favorite I’m passing on: Carolina Hurricanes (+600)
Excellent team, short price. I’m waiting for a better entry point.
Here’s where I draw the line: Minnesota at +1200 interests me, but that doesn’t mean I’ll follow the Wild down to +900. If the price disappears, so does the bet. I’ve got no interest in paying extra because I was late to the party.
“I’ve watched enough talented hockey teams go home in April to know June doesn’t care where you were ranked in October. Give me the right roster at the right price. If I can’t get both, I’ll keep my money.” — Razor Ray Monohan
