1. Kansas City Chiefs (4-3)
Surprised to see the Chiefs this high? Consider it a precursor to what’s ahead. The Chiefs have righted the ship after their early season struggles and looked as dominant as ever in their thrashing of the Raiders this past Sunday. The return of Rashee Rice has taken their offense to a whole other level.
2. Detroit Lions (5-2)
The Lions took care of business against a banged up Buccaneers team on Monday night. Their two losses haven’t been all that bad as they came against good Packers and Chiefs teams. The loss of both coordinators meant they needed a minute to find their footing, but they may just be all the way back.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
The Eagles have five wins thus far despite struggling to run the ball thus far. The team had a two-game losing streak a year ago followed by a bye week and then really turned things around after that, winning out the rest of the way en route to the Super Bowl. This year they came back from their mini-bye and seemed to have some things figured out in the passing game, which could be a sign of good things ahead.
4. Indianapolis Colts (6-1)
The Colts keep stacking wins to prove what they’re doing isn’t a fluke. Their offensive line is playing at an extremely high level which is allowing them to run the ball incredibly well with Jonathan Taylor, and it’s giving Daniel Jones time to succeed throwing the ball.
5. Green Bay Packers (4-1-1)
The Packers, they could be higher if not for some sloppy play of late which has seen them come away with disappointing results against lesser teams. The talent is definitely out there on the field. Perhaps being able to escape Arizona with a win can be the motivating factor they need to get on track.
6. Buffalo Bills (4-2)
The bye week came at the right time for the Bills, who needed to figure some things out after losses to the Patriots and Falcons. Josh Allen didn’t look like himself in that loss to Atlanta, but he figures to bounce back. On the defensive side of the ball, they need to figure out a away to stop the run.
7. Los Angeles Rams (5-2)
The Rams didn’t have any issues making the trip to London, as they made short work of the Jaguars in a dominant outing. And Matthew Stafford showed this passing game can still operate at a high level even without Puka Nacua. The team’s young defense could be key in taking this team to another level.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2)
The banged up Buccaneers weren’t able to put their best foot forward on Monday night, but this remains a talented squad that’s been winning big games this year behind some very high-level play from Baker Mayfield. The defense figures to be better than it’s been thus far considering how many points they’ve allowed.
9. New England Patriots (5-2)
Mike Vrabel is running away with the Coach of the Year Award. This team looked like it might disappoint after that opening week loss to the Raiders, but the past month they’ve found another gear, starting with quarterback Drake Maye. His strong play has rejuvenated the offense, and the defense has followed suit.
10. San Francisco 49ers (5-2)
The 49ers are so banged up. At the start of the year Nick Bosa and Fred Warner were about the only bright spots on a young defense. And the offense was limited at the skill positions, with injuries further decimating that side of the ball – not to mention all the time Brock Purdy’s missed. But Kyle Shanahan and Robert Saleh have done such a phenomenal job of keeping this thing going. Their schedule is soft the rest of the way so they could keep this going.
