1. Los Angeles Rams (11-3)
The Rams came away with a huge win over the Lions this past weekend with Matthew Stafford continuing to play at an MVP-caliber level. He’ll need to keep at it for a few weeks without Davante Adams. The team’s defensive line has been top-notch. They’re still on the edge of a possible road matchup to open the playoffs and Thursday night’s matchup with the Seahawks will go a long way in deciding the winner of the NFC.
2. Denver Broncos (12-2)
The Broncos just keep on winning. No one on the offense has been particularly exceptional, and the defense hasn’t been as suffocating as many expected, but Denver just keeps finding ways to win close games, with Bo Nix stepping up in the fourth quarter when needed. They’re in the drivers’ seat for the top spot in the AFC.
3. Seattle Seahawks (11-3)
The Seahawks are another team that just keeps finding ways to win. Their defense has been terrific, with the unit taking a big leap in Mike Macdonald’s second year. On offense, it’s been an underwhelming season for everyone but Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who’s the frontrunner for the Offensive Player of the Year award.
4. Buffalo Bills (10-4)
The Bills kept their foot on the gas and finished ahead of the Patriots on Sunday in an important game that could have all but decided the AFC East had they lost. Josh Allen hasn’t had as prolific a passing season with the team leaning on the run game more than in past years, but they seem to have finally found a recipe that’s working.
5. New England Patriots (11-3)
The Patriots came up on the wrong end of that AFC East clash. Drake Maye’s taken a step back in the MVP discussion with a sub-par performance. The team’s already well ahead of expectations and there’s a lot to like about what’s come out of Mike Vrabel’s first year.
6. Philadelphia Eagles (9-5)
A game against the Raiders can really cure what ails a slumping team like the Eagles. They’re still on the razor’s edge of this whole thing coming apart, but Vic Fangio continues to keep the defense on track, with that unit playing at an incredibly high level while the offense struggles.
7. Houston Texans (9-5)
The Texans were left for dead after an 0-3 start, but they’ve reeled off six consecutive victories. The offense has begun to establish an identity with expanded roles for their young skill players, while the defense remains one of the top units in football.
8. Los Angeles Chargers (10-4)
The Chargers have gotten back on track with three consecutive wins since the bye, including wins over the Eagles and Chiefs the past two weeks. The offense has stalled somewhat in recent weeks, but a matchup with the Cowboys this upcoming weekend could be exactly what the doctor ordered.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars (10-4)
It hasn’t always been pretty, but the Jaguars have reached double-digit victories to all but assure themselves a playoff spot in the AFC. The defense has been opportunistic all season long, while Trevor Lawrence is coming off the best statistical game of his career and is finally showing consistent glimpses of the talent that earned him the No. 1 overall selection.
10. Chicago Bears (10-4)
The Bears get a second crack at taking down the rival Packers, this time without Micah Parsons. Ben Johnson has this offense humming, while the defense continues to be aggressive at capitalizing on mistakes by opposing offenses. More consistent play from Caleb Williams would take them to the next level.
