How Do College Football Over/Under Futures Odds Even Work?
The gambler has to predict whether or not the team’s total wins for said season will be more or less than the oddsmakers set number (Or the betting line).
Below you’ll see that each college football team gets a over/under win total. Example: Each FBS school receives a win total ranging from 1.5 wins to 11.5 wins.
Now, for example with Ohio State their win total is 10.5. It’s up to you to decide if they’ll have MORE than 10.5 wins, or less than 10.5 wins. If OVER you’ll be betting $210 to win $100. If you’re betting UNDER you’ll wager $100 to win $175.
This tells us Vegas is expecting Ohio State to have MORE than 10.5 wins since you have to bet more if you think that’s the correct prediction.
The Oddsmakers usually look at past records, signings, roster shake up, and sometimes the schedule before setting the number for CFB Win Total Betting lines.
You won’t see the odds change too much moving forward, but this is also a strange year with the Covid-19 pandemic wreaking havoc on the sportsbooks, so of all years, expect anything to happen this year.
