NFL Handicapping Insight
Here are three favorites, three longshots, and three from the middle of the pack worthy of a closer look when betting on Super Bowl LII.
New England Patriots +350
The Patriots went through some early-season woes, but they appeared to have righted the ship on the Sunday night stage with a convincing victory over Falcons.
It seemed to be just a matter of time before Bill Belichick and co. would figure things out. Even through their rough stretch, the team found a way to keep their record respectable. Now they’re in position to move to the top of the AFC.
Philadelphia Eagles +600
The Eagles are the latest team to join the conversation with the league’s elite teams, earning their spot at the table with a big win on Monday night to give them the best record in either conference.
The NFC does appear to be in search of a team that will run away with the No. 1 spot, and the Eagles are currently the frontrunner to be that team.
Pittsburgh Steelers +600
It’s easy to find fault with some of the things the Steelers have done thus far, but there’s no denying that the team has still managed to find a way to win games.
The development of the team’s defense has been the real catalyst for the Steelers’ success, but it’s tough to imagine the team’s offense staying down for much longer.
The play: Patriots +350
Seattle Seahawks +1000
The Seahawks need to address their terrible offensive line sooner than later, but that deficiency has actually really allowed Russell Wilson to shine this season. And the defense has been rock solid. If they can get a couple home playoff games, watch out.
Kansas City Chiefs +1200
The Chiefs are the kind of team that, even when they were 5-0, everyone was waiting for a losing streak to come so they could jump off the bandwagon. But there really does feel like there’s something different about this year’s team, which has shown it has another gear on offense.
Dallas Cowboys +2000
Backing the Cowboys a week or two ago would’ve provided some better value than getting them now following their route of the 49ers. It looks like they might hang on to Ezekiel Elliott for a full 16 games after all, and that’s huge because he helps them keep their defense on the sideline.
The play: Cowboys +2000
Houston Texans +4000
The Texans thought they had something special when they moved up in the draft to add Deshaun Watson, but no one could have expected him to provide the kind of instant impact he has. With no one in the AFC South pulling away, the division is there for the taking.
Carolina Panthers +6500
It’s tough to know which version of the Panthers is going to show up in a given week. One week they’re beating the Patriots, the next they can’t get a first down against the Bears. But when they’re right, they look like a team that can get to the Super Bowl.
The injury to Aaron Rodgers obviously has a massive effect on the Packers, but it also has major ramifications on the remainder of the Lions’ season.
Detroit hasn’t played either of its games against the Packers yet, and Green Bay’s downfall means only Minnesota stands between the Lions and a division title.
The play: Lions +6500
Here are the remaining Super Bowl LII odds in their entirety:
- Minnesota Vikings +1700
