Spieth did return a week ago and made it through the weekend at the PGA Championship, playing with tape on his wrist and KT tape on his forearm.

He is coming off a missed cut at the PGA Championship, but he won this event last season in a playoff over Scottie Scheffler, and has four top-10 finishes already this season, including a win at the WGC-Dell Match Play.
In the history of this tournament, only one player has defended his title, and that was Ben Hogan, who turned the trick twice, which includes the first two years of this tournament. Burns has already successfully defended a title in his career, with back-to-back wins at the Valspar Championship in 2021 and 2022.

The winner of this tournament gets 500 FedExCup points along with their prize money – and that’s not all! The winner also receives a Royal Tartan Plaid jacket, and a restored 1973 Ford Bronco – so there is a lot on the line this year!

The Pro who gained a lot of attention with his play at the PGA will be in the field this week, as the 46-year-old received a sponsor exemption to be included in the 120-player field at Colonial this week.
