2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational Betting Odds:
Rory McIlroy +550
Rory is the outright favorite for the Invitational this weekend, and rightfully so.
The Northern Irishman is the clear-cut best player in the world, and has five top-5 finishes in his last six Tour starts. Additionally, he still holds the top spot in the OWGR and the third spot in the FedEx Cup standings.
However fantastic Rory is playing right now, taking any golfer at nearly 5-1 odds is ludicrous. Despite Rory being head-and-shoulders above the rest of the field, there is simply no value in this pick.
Tommy Fleetwood +1400
Fleetwood had a great showing last week, managing a solo third place at the Honda Classic. Additionally, he’s posted top-20s at the WGC-Mexico and the Dubai Desert Classic, on top of T-2s at the Abu Dhabi HSBC and the DP World Tour.
All of his recent success has Fleetwood in 10th place in the OWGR. However, in his five FedEx cup starts, Fleetwood has done nothing of importance.
At the Arnold Palmer, Fleetwood is fresh off a third-place finish last year, a T-26th in 2018 and a T-10th in 2017. Fleetwood would be a good pick because of his recent performances this season and his success at this tournament.
Bryson DeChambeau +1800
DeChambeau is fresh off a solo runner-up finish in Mexico City, after posting a six-under round on Sunday that left him just one stroke short of the win. Other notable results for DeChambeau include a T-5th at the Genesis Open and a T-8th at the Dubai Desert Classic.
Additionally, DeChambeau posted a second place at this tournament just two years ago. DeChambeau is top-25 in both the OWGR and the FedEx Cup standings.
2020 Arnold Palmer Free Picks (Our Recommended Betting Plays):
Rickie Fowler -105 v Brooks Koepka
Caution: I pulled this line from Bovada, and it may show up much differently depending on the book.
However, I would take this right up to -150. If you didn’t read my PGA article last week, I am incredibly low on Brooks Koepka right now. Three reasons why:
A- Koepka has been very underwhelming on Tour this season.
B- Koepka is clearly playing hurt right now.
C- Koepka played so bad last week at the Honda Classic, and I don’t expect him to bounce-back at Bay Hill.
And while Rickie Fowler also played poorly last week, he has a good track record on this golf course. Fowler has three top-15 finishes in six starts at Bay Hill.
Fading Koepka will be an auto-play until he proves otherwise.
Hideki Matsuyama +2000
I will continue to bet on Matsuyama until he gets a win.
In my not-so-humble opinion, Matsuyama is easily the best ball-striker on tour. However, his short game causes him to fall short in so many of these tournaments (especially his putter).
Nevertheless, I’m still high on him this week to finally break through and earn a coveted tour victory.
