The Tampa Bay Lightning, winners of two straight, will head to Xcel Energy Center to take on a fantastic Minnesota Wild squad.
The Wild are coming off an exciting 4-3 OT loss to the rival Chicago Blackhawks and will look to get right back to its winning ways in its home arena.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Plagued by injuries all season, the Lightning are still struggling to get through the year and can’t keep good players on the ice. The Steven Stamkos injury aside, Tampa Bay is dealing with a lot of injuries that may play into this game against the Wild.
Left wing Alex Killorn was held out of the last game due to an unspecified injury and he may not suit up against the Wild. If he doesn’t play, the Lightning will be losing a 16 goal, 12 assist player, one that provides a good offensive spark.

Ondrej Palat will be out against the Wild due to a lower-body injury. Ryan Callahan is out for a few weeks due to a hip injury. And Michael Bournival may not play Friday after sitting out the last five games with an upper body injury.
It’s somewhat of a surprise that the Lightning have even won the amount of games that it’s won because of how unlucky the team has been on the injury front.
To beat the Wild, Tyler Johnson and Jonathan Drouin will have to be perfect and find ways to score against Devan Dubnyk.
Minnesota Wild
Despite a tough overtime loss to the Blackhawks, this Wild squad is still one of the best teams in the National Hockey League. Minnesota has had a great year and is playing extremely well under new head coach Bruce Boudreau.
The team has played great hockey on both sides of the ice, relying on a mix of stifling defense and goaltending along with quick offense and an aggressive forecheck. This mixture has led the Wild to a lot of wins and the top of the Central Division.
Offensively, Minnesota has been solid all season, scoring over 3.2 goals per game. Six players have scored 10 or more goals on the year, including center Eric Staal.

Staal has 16 goals and 27 assists on the year. He’s been in a bit of a goal-scoring slump recently but still has two assists over his last five games.
Center Mikael Granlund leads the team in total points. He’s been fantastic this year, tallying 15 goals and 33 assists. Over his previous five, he has three goals and three assists for the Wild.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The OVER is 2-2-1 in Tampa Bay’s last five games
- The OVER is 5-0 in Minnesota’s last five games
Free Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Wild have been one of the best teams all year and, well, the Lightning have not. Tampa still doesn’t have a great offense and it will be hard to score against the Wild defense and goalie Devan Dubnyk. Minnesota gets the W in this one.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: UNDER 5.5
I don’t think Tampa will get much past the Wild with Devan Dubnyk between the pipes. Minnesota should get a few goals here, but I don’t think it’ll be a high-scoring affair.
