Pittsburgh is coming off a loss against the Ravens while the Panthers picked up an impressive win over Seattle.
It would take a lot for the Steelers to sneak into a postseason spot even though they have not officially been eliminated yet.
Coming into play, the Steelers are the 13 seed and the Panthers are the 11 seed. Even though I do not feel it will happen in the end, Carolina does have a real chance to overtake Tampa and win the NFC South.
Opening odds saw the home team as a field goal favorite and that number is now at 2.5 across the board. The total opened at 40 and is now down to 38.5.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The trend of the Steelers not scoring a lot of points kept up on Sunday with their 16-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It was a winnable game for them, but they just did not have enough answers in the end.
Kenny Pickett left the game with a concussion and it was Mitch Trubisky that took over as QB. Saying that he did not play well would be putting it mildly.
Because Pittsburgh is not an offense that is explosive, something they really cannot afford to do is turn the ball over. Trubisky finished the game with 3 interceptions, which clearly hurt them.
Najee Harris, who is certainly a focal point of this offense, really got contained by Baltimore, as he averaged less than 3 yards a carry on 12 attempts.
On the other side, though, JK Dobbins ran it down their throats time and time again while Gus Edwards was also effective on the ground. With Lamar Jackson out of the game, Baltimore found other ways to run the ball well.
They will not be facing a great team on Sunday, but the Steelers are going to need a more complete performance if they wish to get win number 6 of the season. Carolina has been playing better of late and they did show me something with their win over Seattle.
Carolina Panthers
It was not too long ago that the Panthers seemed to be dead in the water, but they are a team that is playing with more life as of late.
Carolina went into Seattle on Sunday and really controlled the game in their 30-24 win. They controlled the time of possession at around a 2:1 clip.
Whenever the Seahawks seemed to have an answer, this team just responded back. It was a complete team victory for them.
Sam Darnold certainly was not flashy out there, but he made the necessary plays and he did not turn the ball over, which has been a problem for him in the past.
The defense was not perfect, but they did a good job of keeping Geno Smith out of a rhythm and they also picked him off twice. Their run defense really stepped up, as the ground game for Seattle was basically a non-factor.
For me, something to really watch for in this game on Sunday is the Carolina run game vs. the Pittsburgh run defense, which clearly showed some vulnerabilities in week 14. Foreman and Hubbard did not light the world on fire against Seattle, but this is a good opportunity for them to expose a weakness.

Given the two teams that are playing and how they like to play, I can see this being a pretty ugly one.
Carolina is the better team and they are at home, but I am not exactly very high on them even though they are playing better.
Even if they do not win the game, these are the kinds of games the Steelers are good at keeping close. I could see it being similar to when they played the Falcons a little while ago.
In a game that I see being competitive, the 2.5 points are too many for me to back Carolina here.
