This matchup on Sunday afternoon has New York traveling to San Francisco looking for their 4th win of the year.
Kick off is set for 4:05 PM ET with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick getting the start for the Jets against Colin Kaepernick of the 49ers.
New York Jets
The Jets have struggled all season long, most recently getting blown out at home on Monday night against the Colts. Much of the poor record can be attributed to quarterback play, or lack of it.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has not been able to replicate the numbers he put up in 2015. He has thrown only 10 touchdown passes this season and was benched at the start of the 2nd half in the blowout loss to the Colts.

Matt Forte had a good 4 game stretch in the middle of the season (the Jets went 2-2), but he has hit a brick wall in the last couple of weeks. He has 52 rushing yards in his last 2 games and has not been a receiving threat for much of the season.
With the offense struggling as much as it has been, don’t expect a big game from Forte.

For much of his career Brandon Marshall has had to work with subpar quarterback play. This season he is having a down year due to Fitzpatrick’s ineffectiveness.
In the Monday night game against the Colts he caught 4 passes on 8 targets for 43 yards. He has only 3 touchdowns this season and unless he can beat the 49ers secondary I don’t see him getting his 4th.
San Francisco 49ers
If it wasn’t for the Cleveland Browns being winless, San Francisco would be considered the worst tea in the league. The offense hasn’t done anything all season due to poor play from Gabbert and Kaepernick, and the defense doesn’t have impact players on that side of the ball.
Colin Kaepernick has been the center of controversy all season long for his actions off the field, but he did have a good game two weeks ago against the Dolphins.
That strong play did not result in the same type of performance last week, as he was 1-5 for 4 yards and sacked 5 times before being benched in the loss to the Bears.
He will get the start against New York, but I see him putting up mildly pedestrian numbers against a good, but poorly performing Jets front seven.
Talented running back Carlos Hyde has put up 3 straight good games for the 49ers running game. He carried the ball 20 times for 92 yards against the Bears.
The Jets defense gave up nearly 80 yards rushing to Frank Gore Monday night, so I think Hyde will have a great game against them. He will reach the 100 yard mark and get a touchdown.

The 49ers defense couldn’t stop the run last week, allowing Jordan Howard to rush for 117 yards on 32 carries. He also found the end zone 3 times.
If the 49ers can’t slow down Matt Forte then the defense will be in for a long game.
