Denver defended its home turf by a single point in the first matchup between these two divisional foes, 31–30.
That was back in Week 8. This time around, the Chargers host the Broncos for the first time at the brand new SoFi Stadium with the loser likely to wind up in last place in the AFC West.
Denver Broncos
Neither of these two teams played on Sunday in Week 15.
The Broncos faced the Bills on Saturday evening and took a beating, 48–19.
For the second time in three weeks, Drew Locke didn’t come close to even 200 yards passing. He finished with 132 yards, took three sacks and lost a fumble.

The ground game out-gained the aerial attack. Melvin Gordon looked okay with better than sixty yards and a pair of touchdowns. His change-of-pace backfield partner, Phillip Lindsay chipped in close to another forty.
The defense put up next to zero resistance, however. Buffalo has one of the best offenses in the league and could be a model for Justin Herbert and the Chargers to replicate going forward.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers played the first game of Week 15 back on Thursday Night Football and came away with an overtime victory over the Raiders, 30–24.
Herbert looked sharp, completing 22 of 32 pass attempts for 314 yards and two scores. He also scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime on a quarterback sneak.
LA featured a rotating backfield of Austin Ekeler and Kalen Ballage. Ekeler played more snaps but Ballage got consistent usage and the goal line looks, scoring from a yard out.
Both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams were questionable going into the game but both played. Neither was particularly productive, however.
Instead, Jalen Guyton, an undrafted receiver in his second season out of North Texas, set a new career-high with ninety-one receiving yards.
Like Denver, LA’s defense struggled in Week 15. It had appeared the Chargers caught a break when David Carr came up lame in the first quarter on a scramble.
Marcus Mariota relieved Carr and had a good night, hooking up with tight end Darren Waller regularly and running for the game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Chargers -3.
Given that neither team is in the hunt, this will actually be an entertaining game between two young quarterbacks who will want to beat the other and set the tone for next season.
The total feels about right, as neither defense will succeed in completely shutting down the opposing offense. I do lean slightly over.
But give me the Chargers, who will have playoff aspirations next year with a fresh slate and Herbert established as the starter.
Austin Ekeler has a big day and Guyton builds on his success running the deep patterns with another serviceable day for fantasy owners looking for something off the waiver wire.
