It’s the tale of two teams heading in opposite directions. Josh Allen and the Bills are flying high and riding their current wave of success while the Bears haven’t done a whole lot and have seemingly found themselves in the land of irrelevancy when it comes to December football.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are tops in the AFC thanks to a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Kansas City Chiefs. They enter this contest on a five-game win streak with victories over teams .500 and above in the Patriots, Jets, Lions and most recently the Dolphins. They also covered the spread against the Browns in Week 11 but it was the win over the Miami last week that allowed them to clinch a playoff berth. Now they have a chance to lock up the AFC East with a win over Chicago this week.
Quarterback Josh Allen is having a remarkable year with nine touchdowns and just a single interception over his last five starts. The pivot is just 143 yards away from a third straight year of at least 4,000 passing yards and he’s put up 30 touchdowns on the season. Not to mention he’s a dual-threat QB, leading the team in rushing yards this season.
Chicago Bears
On the other side of the field are the lowly Chicago Bears who are last in the NFC and are already eliminated from playoff contention. They’re currently on a seven-game losing skid that has seen them lose back-to-back games at Solider Field for the second time this season.
The only thing of real note left to play for is for quarterback Justin Fields’ chance to break Lamar Jackson’s single season QB rushing record. In a 25-20 loss to Philadelphia, Fields reached 1000 rushing yards on the year and broke the Bears single season QB rushing mark this past week. He just needs 207 yards to pass Jackson’s record over the next three weeks. That would mean he’d have to average 69 yards per game the rest of the way, which is a step down from the 76.9 yards he already puts up per outing. Fields leads the league with an average of 7.0 rushing yards per play and sits seventh in the league in terms of total rushing yards.

4* Free Week 16 NFL Betting Prediction: Bills ATS
While this may seem like a “sandwich” game for the Bills who have the Bengals next week, it’s not. They have a chance to lock down the top spot in the AFC East with a win here. Buffalo is averaging 27.5 points on the board per game while giving up just 17.9 against. They have only covered the spread twice in their last eight games but when you look at the teams they were playing, it makes sense. They covered against the Browns, a sub-.500 team and then against the Patriots who were above .500 at the time.
Chicago on the other hand is a team that Buffalo can take advantage of as the Bears are averaging just 20.7 points on offence while giving up 25.6 against per game.
Look for Allen and company to run up the score and clinch the AFC East in the process.
