2026 NCAAB Handicapping – Wofford Terriers vs Tennessee Volunteers
Here’s why I’m backing an UNDER bet below in my Terriers Volunteers free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Terriers vs. Volunteers Gameday
The Wofford Terriers visit the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Food City Center in Knoxville. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM ET on SEC Network.
Both teams begin their 2026-27 regular seasons at 0-0. Tennessee carries national expectations, while Wofford faces a difficult opening assignment against SEC competition.
Wofford gets a top-10 opponent right out of the gate, because apparently easing into November is overrated.
The Terriers finished 19-13 overall and 11-7 in Southern Conference play last season. Kevin Giltner enters his second year as head coach, looking to build on that foundation.
Tennessee went 25-12, including an 11-7 SEC record. Rick Barnes guided the Volunteers to their third consecutive Elite Eight appearance.
That NCAA Tournament run ended with a 95-62 loss to Michigan. The Volunteers now return with a substantially different roster and another demanding schedule.
Tennessee has won all nine previous meetings with Wofford. The Terriers have their work cut out for them, particularly inside one of the SEC’s tougher road environments.
It’s Wofford Terriers vs. Tennessee Volunteers, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Wofford Terriers vs. Tennessee Volunteers Odds & Previous Games
Tennessee was listed as a 27-point favorite, with Wofford getting +27. The supplied opening moneylines are Tennessee -20000 and Wofford +6000.
The total is 154. That’s a healthy number for a season opener featuring two teams still establishing their rotations.
The Volunteers defeated Miami (OH) 78-56, Virginia 79-72 and Iowa State 76-62 in last season’s NCAA Tournament. Those victories came against considerably stronger competition than Tennessee faces tonight.
Wofford averaged 78.8 points last season while allowing 77.1. The Terriers were capable offensively, although their defensive numbers left plenty to improve.
These teams last met in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, with Tennessee winning 77-62. Chaz Lanier scored 29 points in that victory.
Tennessee also lost both October exhibitions, falling 86-70 to Xavier and 103-64 to Duke. Those results weren’t pretty, although exhibition scores aren’t regular-season standings.
There are no current-season results to compare. The opening spread reflects Tennessee’s talent advantage, while the total presents a separate question for bettors.

Volunteers Stats
Tennessee enters with a rebuilt lineup and several important transfers. Barnes has assembled plenty of talent, but getting everyone comfortable in the same system remains a challenge.
Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris headlines the newcomers. The preseason All-SEC selection brings scoring ability and the versatility to attack from different spots on the floor.
Dai Dai Ames and Jalen Haralson provide additional backcourt options. Their ability to handle defensive pressure should help Tennessee establish its offensive identity.
Barnes has plenty of talent to work with, but the preseason showed chemistry still needs some attention.
Tennessee’s physical approach has long been a strength under Barnes. Establishing position on the glass and defending without fouling will be important against Wofford.
Jalen Washington remains ineligible while pursuing another season of NCAA eligibility. His absence limits Tennessee’s available frontcourt depth.
Tyler Lundblade is expected to play after recovering from back surgery. Terrence Hill Jr. has returned to practice following an ankle injury, while Harris has also been practicing after experiencing back discomfort.
The Volunteers have the pieces to be dangerous. Turning individual ability into consistent execution is the immediate priority.
Terriers Stats
Wofford returns sophomore guard Chace Watley, who averaged 9.7 points last season. He appeared in all 32 games and made 15 starts.
Watley also recorded 43 assists and 18 steals. His experience gives Giltner an important returning option in the backcourt.
Cam Lowe arrives from Division II Black Hills State after averaging 17.4 points and 6.4 rebounds. He shot 39.5% from three-point range and earned All-American recognition.
The Terriers were picked third in the Southern Conference preseason coaches poll. Both Watley and Lowe earned preseason All-SoCon honors.
Wofford’s perimeter shooting could help offset some of Tennessee’s size advantage. Lowe’s ability to stretch the floor gives the Terriers another offensive option.
Giltner needs his guards to stay composed in a difficult road environment. Poor decisions against an athletic opponent can become expensive quickly.
Wofford has enough experience to compete in its conference. Facing a nationally ranked SEC program is a considerably tougher opening test.
Terriers vs. Volunteers Matchup
Tennessee has the advantage in size, depth and athleticism. The Volunteers should be able to challenge Wofford around the basket and compete aggressively for offensive rebounds.
Harris gives Tennessee a versatile scoring threat. Wofford must account for his ability to attack off the dribble without leaving other shooters unattended.
Watley and Lowe provide the Terriers with two capable perimeter players. Their challenge is finding quality looks against Tennessee’s defensive length.

Barnes will want better execution after Tennessee’s difficult exhibition schedule. Wofford needs its newcomers to communicate defensively and avoid getting overwhelmed in the paint.
Wofford Terriers vs. Tennessee Volunteers bottom line: Tennessee owns the stronger roster and home-court advantage, while Wofford needs disciplined execution to keep the matchup competitive.
Terriers Volunteers Free Pick: Under 154
Here is my Terriers Volunteers free pick: I’m on Under 154. Tennessee can win this game by 25 or 30 points without threatening the total. That’s the distinction I’m betting on, because a blowout doesn’t automatically mean an offensive explosion.
The danger is Tennessee turning Wofford turnovers into uncontested baskets. Give the Vols a steady diet of layups, and 154 becomes a much smaller number.
I’m betting on Barnes getting his defense right, not his team winning a track meet.
Wofford needs to be deliberate with its possessions, especially when the game starts getting away. Quick, contested shots against this opponent are a fine way to spend the evening watching Tennessee run the other direction.
My preferred script is a Tennessee lead that grows through defensive stops rather than a frantic scoring pace. That puts the pressure on Wofford to supply points it may struggle to find.
The Vols should take care of business, but I don’t need them lighting up the scoreboard. I’ll leave the 30-point victory predictions to somebody else and play Under 154.
