The biggest concern with laying nearly 28 is the backdoor cover. A big Michigan lead could mean extended bench minutes and some ugly late possessions.
Twenty-seven and a half points isn’t cheap, but Oakland’s preseason hasn’t earned much respect from the bookmakers.
Here’s what I like: Michigan can build separation without relying on a hot shooting night. Its ability to finish through contact and draw fouls gives the Wolverines another way to keep the scoreboard moving.
Oakland’s exhibition struggles also raise questions about how long it can withstand sustained pressure. Once the deficit reaches double digits, every empty possession becomes expensive.
I’m willing to live with the late-game risk because the mismatch should be established long before the final minutes. Oakland needs a near-flawless effort to stay inside this number, and I’m not buying it. Lay Michigan -27.5.
