Neither the Dallas Mavericks nor New York Knicks have done much with this season, but both have a lot going for them as far as entertainment value goes.
The Mavs have a young stud in Luka Doncic taking charge right out of the gate in his rookie year, while the Knicks have a number of pieces stepping up their individual games in the absence of Kristaps Porzingis, including Tim Hardaway Jr., Ends Kanter and Damyean Dotson.
These two face off in Dallas on Friday night.
New York Knicks
Before the season began, Tim Hardaway Jr. approached his coaching staff and trainers and said something that sounded wild at the time: I want to be a superstar.
Yes, he has the name “Tim Hardaway” going for him, but he’s always been an inconsistent volume shooter, which doesn’t exactly translate into stardom at the professional level.

Wouldn’t you know it, though, the 26-year-old has stepped up his game.
Through the early part of the 2018-19 season, Hardaway has posted a career-high 26 points per game. That’s not “barely” a career high, either. He’s destroying his previous career best of 17.5 points per night (2017-18), and he’s doing it while knocking down 41.1 percent of his three-point shots—another career best.

Dallas Mavericks
When the Dallas Mavericks traded up to take Luka Doncic in the 2018 draft, fans across the league were quick to throw ambivalence out the window. He was either going to be great, or he was a bust—nothing in between.
Although it’s wayyyy too early to claim one side or the other has one, we’ve actually seen mostly great things from the kid. He can command an offense, he can shoot the three, he can score at the rim (or drive and kick) and he has one of the most lethal step-back jumpers in the game already.
Expect him to do some serious damage against a weak Knicks defense, and expect him to find ways to get DeAndre Jordan involved against another weak defender in Enes Kanter.

Free New York Knicks vs. Dallas Mavericks NBA Prediction:
Although the Knicks will have the best scorer in this entire contest Friday night in Tim Hardaway, the Mavs have home-court advantage and a rookie guard who should be able to carve his way through the Knicks defense all night.
