NASCAR Handicapping
The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs hit Vegas this weekend as the Round of 8 fires up under the desert lights. With only four races left before the Championship finale on November 2, the stakes couldn’t be higher — every lap now carries playoff consequences.
Last weekend, Shane van Gisbergen kept his road-course legend status intact by taking the checkered flag at the Bank of America Roval 400, locking himself into the Round of 8.
The Kiwi’s been untouchable whenever there’s a right-hand turn involved, and the rest of the field knows it.
Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin still clings to the top spot in the Drivers’ Championship, but a disappointing 23rd at the Roval tightened things up. He’s suddenly got company breathing down his neck.
Enter Kyle Larson — the oddsmakers’ pick this week — who’s been on a heater with three straight top-10 finishes and a win at this same Vegas race two years ago.
If momentum counts for anything, Larson’s the one to beat heading into Sin City.
Past Winners – South Point 400 (Last 10 Races)
Before you lock in your bets for this weekend, it helps to know who’s owned this track in the past. After all, history doesn’t always repeat — but it often rhymes, especially at a place like Indy. For bettors chasing trends or team dominance, this list is a valuable snapshot.
So with that in mind, let’s look at the past winners of the South Point 400.

South Point 400 Free Picks
Our 2025 NASCAR South Point 400 Free Pick is riding with one of the front-runners — sometimes chalk is the sharp move.
2025 NASCAR South Point 400 Race Odds: Kyle Larson +450
Larson enters this race on a strong run of late and is coming off a second place finish at the Charlotte Roval, just coming up short of the victory. Now into the round of 8, he’d love to start out right here after winning here in 2023.
This is one of his favorite tracks as he’s won on this track three times before, including just one year removed from winning this very race. Henrick Motorsports has performed very well in Vegas over the years, and another win here would be well timed.
In addition to outright plays, top-10s and matchups offer sneaky ways to profit this week. For our 2025 NASCAR South Point 400 Free Pick, we’re sticking with a driver whose setup and recent pace check every box.
2025 NASCAR South Point 400 Race Odds: Denny Hamlin +525
Hamlin will look to bounce back after a disappointing 23rd place finish at the Charlotte Roval after an incident with Ross Chastain and Joey Logano. He’s won here before back in 2021, and this would be a great weekend to add another and solidify his spot atop the Drivers’ standings and put his stamp on a spot in the Championship 4.
NASCAR Odds: Christopher Bell +550
Bell is coming off another strong run last week, finishing third at the Charlotte Roval. He currently sits fifth in the Drivers’ standings and has finished in the top 10 in each of the last five races, including third place runs at both the Hollywood Casino 400 and the Bank of America Roval 400 in the past two weeks.
He’ll look to break through in Vegas after putting a pair of runner-up finishes to his name here. If he can get his first win at this track he’ll punch his return ticket to the Championship 4.
NASCAR Odds: William Byron +800
Byron is coming off an 11th place finish at the Charlotte Roval in another consistent day for the No. 24 team. Now their attention will shift to the next round of the playoffs with an eye toward advancing to the Championship 4.
Byron won here back in the spring of 2023. Securing a postseason victory would be huge for him this time around to return to the Championship 4.
2025 NASCAR South Point 400 Race Odds: Tyler Reddick +1400
Reddick finished one spot ahead of Byron at the Roval, coming away with a 10th place finish, adding another top-10 to the resume of 23XI Racing. That wasn’t enough to keep him in the playoff picture, as he was bounced from contention.
A win in Las Vegas would be a great consolation prize, and Reddick is an intriguing dark horse to do just that, having finished runner-up here before, and he’s show speed on intermediate tracks.
Before you bet the house on a name-brand driver, make sure to consider track history and current form. For another 2025 NASCAR South Point 400 Free Pick, we factored in both — and landed on a driver flying just under the radar.
