NASCAR Handicapping
The NASCAR Cup Series schedule for 2025 kicks off this weekend with the pillar of the driving series’ schedule – the Daytona 500. The Great American Race goes down one week after the NFL Super Bowl, following up that event with the biggest race on the NASCAR schedule.
William Byron won his first Daytona 500 a year ago, and it was Joey Logano who won the season long title, marking the third time he’s been crowned NASCAR Cup Series champion. Logano will now be looking for his second victory in this race after winning NASCAR’s premier event back in 2015.
Tyler Reddick is the reigning regular season champion and the arrow is pointing straight up for the No. 45 Toyota. Over the past three season’s Reddick has eight wins, and is one of only four drivers with at least 10 top-five finishes each season, joining Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Kyle Larson.
Reddick flashed his ability on superspeedways in 2024, winning one of the two Bluegreen Vacations Duels in advance of the Daytona 500, and won in a dramatic finish in April at Talladega Superspeedway.
Martin Truex Jr.’s retirement was put on hold as he looks to take another crack at the Daytona 500. He retired from full-time racing after the 2024 season, but the 44-year-old will look to qualify in the No. 56 Toyota. A 34-time winner, Truex hasn’t emerged victorious from any of the 39 races at Daytona International Speedway he’s competed in.
Another old hat in the field searching for glory is seven-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, who’s also bypassing retirement for another crack at Daytona. The 49-year-old is looking to qualify in the No. 84 Legacy Motor Club Toyota.

NASCAR 2025 Daytona 500 Race Odds: Kyle Busch +1100
Busch leads all active drivers in Cup Series wins, but hasn’t claimed one at the Daytona 500, only winning the summer race once here back in 2008. He finished second in the Daytona 500 in 2019 and third in 2016. Last August he lost the summer race at Daytona in a photo finish.
NASCAR 2025 Daytona 500 Race Odds: Denny Hamlin +1200
This track doesn’t lend itself well to favorites, but there’s no denying that Hamlin is the only three-time winner in this field. He’s one of only six drivers to accomplish that feat all-time. Jimmie Johnson would be the only driver to have won this race more than once.
NASCAR Odds: Ryan Blaney +1200
Blaney is the Cup Series runner-up from 2024 after he won the title in 2023. In his final three races f 2024, Blaney finished second, first, and second. He’s been victorious at superspeedways before, including the Daytona summer race back in 2021, and multiple wins at Talladega. He’s a guy who should win the Daytona 500 sooner or later. He finished runner-up in this race in 2017 and 2020 among five top 10s.
NASCAR Odds: Brad Keselowski +1400
Keselowski has performed well at superspeedways and the addition of a third RFK car and the Haas alliance have more drivers in this field inclined to help him. This race hasn’t been favorable for him though, with only one top-10 finish in his last 10 Daytona 500s, and he failed to finish seven of his last 10 Great American Races.
NASCAR Odds: Tyler Reddick +2800
Reddick is coming off a Championship 4 appearance, so there’ll be high hopes for another strong season in 2025, and he didn’t disappoint to start at Bowman Gray with a top 10. But his strong driving skills haven’t translated in the Daytona 500 where he has zero top 20 finishes.
