NASCAR Handicapping
The stakes are getting higher as the NASCAR Cup Series moves on to the Round of 8 stage this weekend in Las Vegas. The South Point 400 will go down this weekend alongside the United State Grand Prix which is being held this Sunday in Texas in what will be a tremendous day for motorsports.
This race is the first of the final four stretch of races to conclude the playoffs and determine a champion. The 16-car playoff field was cut in half following last week’s race, with the top eight drivers now remaining to compete to be crowned the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Champion. If one of those eight drivers can come away with a win this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, they’ll punch their ticket to the final four in Phoenix.
NASCAR 2024 South Point 400 Race Odds: Kyle Larson +370
Oddsmakers are not getting burned two weeks in a row by Larson, who looks to clinch his second consecutive victory, and with it a Championship 4 berth. He is firmly planted in the driver’s seat for the title with four races to go.
Larson continues to separate himself from the field, and his chances of a second consecutive victory are looking strong considering he’s won the last two Vegas fall races. It would be an epic run of dominance if he can close out this season with a couple more victories to really solidify his spot atop the mountain.
NASCAR 2024 South Point 400 Race Odds: William Byron +850
Larson is rightfully the one with a firm grasp of the spotlight, but that’s overshadowing Byron, who may have had the best Round of 12 of the bunch. He won here in convincing fashion last spring, and will be eager to punch his ticket to the Championship 4 and solidify his place among the best in the sport.
NASCAR Odds: Tyler Reddick +950
Reddick earned a lot of fans and the respect of the other drivers with his ride through the field in the final stage at Charlotte. That reminded everyone the type of driver he is, and putting behind him a tough string of races heading into that one.
He was the runner-up at Vegas in the spring and will be looking to win his first race since August this weekend. The regular season champion will want to win this one to be the first driver into the Championship 4.
NASCAR Odds: Christopher Bell +1000
Bell has easily been the most consistent driver over the past two months, putting up 34 points or more in seven of the last eight races to position himself as the mark of consistency throughout the playoffs. He’ll have a keen eye on the next two races in this round, but he did lead 61 laps in a runner-up finish in this race at Vegas last year. He seems destined to lock up his third consecutive Championship 4 appearance.

NASCAR Odds: Joey Logano +1500
Logano got what he wanted at the Roval, even if it wasn’t pretty with an average finish of 18.0, marking his worst since 2011 since he was a 21-year-old with Joe Gibbs Racing. But the two time champion stayed alive and has the No. 3 into the Round of 8.
This round sets up better for Logano and could be where we see him breakthrough. Logano won this race two years ago and has three wins in Nevada since 2019. He also showed race-winning speed here earlier in the year when he started from the pole in the spring race.
