NASCAR Handicapping
The NASCAR Cup Series postseason is inching closer and closer as Week 19 of the regular season is set to take place this weekend when the Ally 400 goes down at Nashville Superspeedway. All 34 full-time drivers are in town for this one.
Christopher Bell joined Denny Hamlin, William Byron, and Kyle Larson as the fourth driver to three wins this season when he emerged victorious from the field at New Hampshire. Along with Hamlin and Larson, Bell rounds out the top five on the betting board this week.
The tri-oval in Lebanon, Tennessee is set to host its fourth edition of the Ally 400. The 1.33-mile oval will be pulling a triple of its own this weekend hosting the Truck, Xfinity, and Cup Series across the weekend. It’s the longest concrete track on the Cup circuit.
All eyes will be on Hendrick Motorsports and whether they can continue their recent momentum in Tennessee. Hendrick drivers have won two of the three races on this track, with all three races won by Chevrolet cars. The Chevy drivers will be in the sights of the Joe Gibbs Racing team, which itself has had a terrific season.
NASCAR Betting
NASCAR 2024 Ally 400 Race Odds: Kyle Larson +425
Larson’s been the best driver on intermediate ovals this season so it’s no surprise to see him back atop the odds board. He’s garnered the best average running position on intermediate ovals this season.
Larson won the first edition of this race back in 2021 when he also went on to become the NASCAR Cup champion. He’s led the most laps on this track, and has three top-five results here across those three races. A win this week would be his fourth victory of this season and his fourth top-five result on this track overall.
NASCAR 2024 Ally 400 Race Odds: Denny Hamlin +550
Hamlin surely can’t wait for the month of June to end. He was on a glorious stretch of top-five finishes but things have come off the rails in June. Intermediate ovals are his bread and butter and this could be exactly what he needs to get back into contention and even pick up his fourth win of the season.
Hamlin has a third- and sixth-place finish in his previous two visits to the Nashville Superspeedway. Oddsmakers have him priced in a way that they expect him to shake off his recent funk and that’s something we should take note of.
NASCAR Odds: Ross Chastain +750
The Nashville Superspeedway has to be one of Chastain’s favorite tracks, and he’ll be eager to return here to defend his victory from a year ago. No driver has a better average finish at this track than Chastain’s 2.7 across three starts. He’s led 103 laps here and will have no better opportunity to secure his playoff berth.
NASCAR Odds: Martin Truex Jr. +750
Truex nearly won the Ally 400 last season but wound up in second place when all was said and done. That continued a stretch of bad luck for the Joe Gibbs Racing team driver. This would be a good week for him to turn his fortunes around. In three visits to this track he has a pair of second place finishes and led 132 laps.

NASCAR Odds: Chase Elliott +800
Elliott led 41 laps but couldn’t have been happy with where he finished in Loudon. He’s had a good track record in Nashville as he’s led in each of the three races, and came away victorious there in 2022.
