NASCAR Handicapping
The Cup Series is scheduled to kick off its 2021 season Sunday for the Great American Race, the Daytona 500. However, we’ll have to keep a close eye on the sky. There is greater than a 60 percent chance of showers from mid-afternoon through the early evening in Daytona Beach, Fla., so a delay and/or postponement seems likely given the forecast.
Don’t ever tell us we don’t have you covered! Enjoy this week’s race! Lets go!
Denny Hamlin: NASCAR 2021 Daytona 500 Race Odds: +800
Denny Hamlin enters as the back to back defending champion, he joined an elite club that includes Sterling Marlin (1994-95), Cale Yarborough (1983-84) and Richard Petty (1973-74) as the only drivers to win the Daytona 500 in consecutive seasons. He will be looking to become the first racer ever to win three consecutive Daytona 500s. Hamlin did not have a great qualifying and will start in the 25th position.
Chase Elliott: NASCAR 2021 Daytona 500 Race Odds: +1000
Elliott is one of the top young racers in NASCAR but has struggled in the past at Daytona. His top finish in the past 5 years was 14th place and he will look to finally get over the hump on Sunday.
Joey Logano: NASCAR 2021 Daytona 500 Race Odds: +1000
Joey Logano is an elite driver in the field of NASCAR and will begin in the top 10 after a solid qualifying. He has seen one of the biggest jumps in odds from 1300 to 1000 so there is some serious buzz around his name before the big race. Logano has a proven history at Daytona as he has finished 6th or better every year since his only victory in 2015.
Ryan Blaney: NASCAR 2021 Daytona 500 Race Odds: +1200
Ryan Blaney has solid value as he has shown success at Daytona with two 2nd place finishes including last year in the memorable final lap where he came up just short to Denny Hamlin in the 2nd closest finish in the tracks history. The young racer is towards the front of the pack and will start in 14th, not a terrible place to begin as most of the top racers fell in the same range. If you want to be safer you could bet Blaney to finish top 5 at +225.

Here’s my 2021 Daytona 500 Betting Prediction: Joey Logano +1000
Joey Logano is trending high as of late and there’s good reason to believe in the hype. The 2015 Daytona 500 winner and 2018 NASCAR Cup Series champion is coming off a third-place finish in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series standings. He led six laps last year before a crash led to a 26th-place finish and then was caught up in The Big again in the night race and finished 27th despite leading 36 laps. I expect Logano to bounce back this year and make up for previous mistakes.
