I went chalk with Jimmie Johnson last week as my top favorite and it paid off in his victory at Martinsville to become the first driver to automatically qualify for the championship race.
Brad Keselowski finished second in that race and Denny Hamlin rounded out the Top 3.

The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday’s race at Texas based on betting odds provided by MyBookie.
2016 AAA Texas 500 Odds: The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)
Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson have combined to win four of the first seven races in this year’s Chase, but this week I am going with Kyle Busch to join this group of elite drivers with a victory at Texas.
All three of these drivers have been opened as +500 favorites to win this Sunday, but I am giving the slight edge to the current Sprint Cup Champion behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota.
Busch has raced well the entire Chase with four Top 5 runs and he comes into this race looking for the season sweep at this track after winning the first Sprint Cup event at Texas earlier in the year.
2016 AAA Texas 500 Odds: The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)
I have always been a big fan of Denny Hamlin, especially when he goes off at longer odds.
Following back-to-back third-place finishes in the previous two Chase events, his odds to break through this week with a win in the No. 11 Toyota has been set at +1500.

Hamlin is still looking for that first Chase win of the year, but he has already made his way to Victory Lane three times this season including a win at Richmond in the final point race of the regular season.
The main reason for the longer odds this week is Hamlin’s lack of success at Texas the past few seasons, but he still has two career victories here in a Sprint Cup event.
2016 AAA Texas 500 Odds: The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)
Kurt Busch continues to fly way under the radar as one of eight drivers still in the hunt for this year’s title and almost every week he comes in as a longshot to actually win a Chase event.
His odds to win this week have been set at +3000 and the simple fact that the No. 41 Chevrolet is still in contention for a spot in the final championship race adds value to these long odds.
Busch has not set the world on fire at Texas in the past, but he has remained competitive with three Top 10 finishes in his last four runs.
Odds to Win the 2016 Sprint Cup Championship
- Kyle Busch +500.
- Kevin Harvick +600.
- Martin Truex Jr. +800.
- Joey Logano +800.
- Brad Keselowski +800.
- Jimmie Johnson +800.
- Matt Kenseth +850.
- Carl Edwards +900.
