Kevin Cash’s Rays finished the regular season 98-64, including a 43-38 road record. Stephen Vogt’s Guardians went 85-77 and were 41-40 at home.

Here is my Rays Guardians free pick: I’m backing Cleveland ML -132. This isn’t a wager on the Guardians suddenly becoming an offensive powerhouse. It’s a bet on a club that knows how to turn a handful of opportunities into enough runs. Tampa Bay has the better regular-season résumé, but that doesn’t mean much if Cleveland gets the first lead. The Guardians can make a two-run advantage feel like a mortgage payment: expensive, uncomfortable and impossible to ignore.
That’s the kind of baseball I want from a modest favorite.
Cleveland’s ability to capitalize on mistakes gives me enough reason to lay -132 in a game where runs should matter.
I’m not paying for a blowout. I’m paying for a team that can manufacture a run, protect its position and make the Rays chase rather than dictate the afternoon.
The danger is Tampa Bay’s ability to string together hits without warning. A couple of misplaced pitches could turn a sensible bet into an afternoon of creative language. I prefer Cleveland’s situation at this price. The Guardians don’t need to win the beauty pageant, and frankly, nobody bought a ticket expecting one.
A timely hit and a clean finish are enough to collect on the Guards -132.
