Pat Murphy’s Brewers finished 103-59, including 48-33 on the road. Dave Roberts’ Dodgers won 100 regular-season games and went 51-30 at home.
October doesn’t hand out extra runs for an impressive résumé.
Milwaukee needs two more victories to reach its first World Series since 1982. Los Angeles is trying to avoid falling into a three-game hole.
The Brewers have won both games in Milwaukee. Now the series shifts to Los Angeles, where the defending champions finally get their home crowd involved. That’s helpful, although the fans won’t be taking any at-bats.

Ohtani has struggled this postseason while dealing with lingering injuries. Roberts has considered adjusting the designated hitter spot for Game 3. That’s not exactly the conversation Los Angeles expected to have in October.
The Dodgers need their established hitters to produce with runners aboard.

That’s a useful foundation when postseason games start getting tight.
William Contreras delivered three hits, a homer and three RBIs in Game 2. Christian Yelich added two RBIs as Milwaukee finished with 12 hits.
Brice Turang hit 21 home runs during the regular season and homered in the NLCS opener. The Brewers have received contributions throughout the order. That makes the offense difficult to silence by pitching around one dangerous hitter.

Here is my Brewers Dodgers free pick: I’m taking Milwaukee ML +151. Los Angeles is priced like the obvious answer, which is funny considering the Dodgers still have to win an actual baseball game. I’ll gladly consider the underdog when the price is this generous.
The key is forcing Snell to work instead of helping him cruise through six innings. Milwaukee doesn’t need an early knockout, but it does need to make the Dodgers use more than their ace.
That’s where the plus-money opportunity gets interesting.
I’m buying the chance that Milwaukee makes this a nine-inning contest rather than a Blake Snell showcase.
The Dodgers are dangerous when they get ahead and dictate the pitching decisions. Milwaukee’s best route is to stay within striking distance and make every late-inning substitution matter.
And I’m not interested in paying a premium for the more famous uniform.
The risk is Snell dominating from the opening pitch. But +151 gives me room to take that chance, especially when LA has far more pressure to win Game 3 than Milwaukee does. Desperation makes a terrific television storyline; it doesn’t improve a hitter’s eyesight.
I’ll trust Milwaukee to keep this close enough to steal late. If the Dodgers want to justify that favorite’s price, make them earn every penny.
