Miami Marlins vs. Kansas City Royals Odds & Last 5
The Miami Marlins enter tonight as slight favorites with a moneyline of -117. Kansas City comes back at +100 on the other side. The total is set at 9.0 runs, giving bettors a fairly high number to work with in the finale.
Miami has built some momentum by winning the first two games of this series against Kansas City. The Royals have now dropped three straight overall, including both games against the Marlins. Kansas City has been stronger at Kauffman Stadium, but recent form clearly favors Miami heading into Thursday night.
Royals Stats
The Kansas City Royals have gotten solid production from several spots in their lineup this season. Bobby Witt Jr. is batting .285 with 77 runs scored, while his speed has remained another major part of his offensive value. Kansas City has needed that production during an inconsistent season.
The Royals’ pitching staff has been less consistent overall, although the rotation has produced some quality performances. Michael Wacha has been one of their more reliable starters and gets another important assignment tonight. Kansas City needs that stability after dropping the first two games of this series.
Jac Caglianone leads the Royals with 23 home runs while batting .283. Carter Jensen has added 19 homers, and Salvador Perez has contributed 17 home runs with 62 RBIs. Witt has added 16 homers and 37 stolen bases to a balanced Kansas City lineup.

Marlins Stats

Miami has also found power from several places in the lineup. Heriberto Hernandez leads the club with 22 home runs, while Kyle Stowers has contributed 17 homers with a .463 slugging percentage. Griffin Conine and Liam Hicks have each added 14 home runs.
The Marlins’ pitching staff has helped keep the team above .500 entering September. Sandy Alcantara has once again become a reliable presence in the rotation, carrying a 13-8 record into tonight’s start. Miami now has a chance to finish off a road sweep with its ace on the mound.

Marlins vs. Royals Pitching Matchup
Sandy Alcantara gets the start for the Miami Marlins in tonight’s series finale. The right-hander enters with a 13-8 record and a 3.46 ERA. He has also recorded 140 strikeouts while giving Miami a dependable option at the top of its rotation.
Alcantara carries a 1.19 WHIP and has done a solid job limiting traffic on the bases. His ability to work deep into games can become especially valuable late in the season. Miami will look for another strong outing as it tries to complete the sweep.
Michael Wacha takes the mound for Kansas City with an 8-8 record. He owns a 3.32 ERA with 136 strikeouts and has remained one of the more consistent pieces of the Royals’ rotation. His 1.10 WHIP also reflects his ability to keep baserunners under control.
Wacha gives Kansas City a strong option as it tries to avoid being swept at home. He enters with slightly better ERA and WHIP numbers than Alcantara, making this a competitive starting pitching matchup. Miami brings the better recent form after taking the first two games of the series.
Miami Marlins vs. Kansas City Royals bottom line: Miami enters at 71-69 with two straight wins and a chance to complete the road sweep, while Kansas City looks to end a three-game skid behind one of its more dependable starters.

Marlins Royals Free Pick: Marlins ML -117
Here is my Marlins Royals free pick: Miami has already taken the first 2 games of this series, and I like the pitching matchup enough to stay with the Marlins.
Give me Miami again.
The Marlins won 6-3 Tuesday, then erased an early deficit Wednesday to beat Kansas City 9-6. That puts Miami at 71-69 and gives it a chance to finish the sweep behind Sandy Alcantara.
Alcantara enters 13-8 with a 3.46 ERA and 140 strikeouts. Kansas City counters with Michael Wacha, who is 8-8 with a 3.32 ERA, so this isn’t some huge mismatch on the mound. Fair enough.
Miami has scored 15 runs through the first 2 games of this series, and the lineup has found answers against both Kansas City starters and its bullpen.
However, the Royals aren’t playing nearly as poorly as their 3-game losing streak suggests. They were 12-1 immediately before this skid, which makes blindly fading them a bad idea.
The difference for me is Alcantara.
Additionally, Miami has already shown it can win in different ways here, taking Tuesday comfortably before rallying from behind Wednesday.
That’s useful in a short price range.
No need to complicate this one. I’ll back the better current series form and a proven starter with the Marlins ML.
