Kevin Cash’s Rays finished the regular season 98-64 and earned the American League’s top seed. They’re back home with an opportunity to secure the franchise’s third World Series appearance.
Tampa Bay went 55-26 at Tropicana Field during the regular season.
The Rays are one victory from the pennant, but Cleveland has already survived a difficult elimination spot.
Stephen Vogt’s Guardians finished 85-77 and won the AL Central. Cleveland overcame an 0-2 deficit against the White Sox in the Division Series, so facing elimination is hardly unfamiliar territory.
