Here is my Athletics Rangers free pick: Texas hasn’t been playing its best baseball lately, but its home performance gives me enough reason to expect a bounce-back effort. I’m laying the run line.
The Rangers are only 1-4 across their last 5 games, while the Athletics are 2-3 during that stretch. Texas has at least shown some offensive life, with 3 of those 5 games clearing the total.
Oakland has won 6 of the 10 meetings between these clubs this season, so I’m not ignoring the Athletics’ head-to-head success. However, Texas owns a strong 36-29 record at Globe Life Field. Home matters here.
Texas has been much more dependable at home, and that gives the Rangers a good opportunity to win this one with room to spare.
The -220 moneyline also tells us Texas is expected to win, but paying that price isn’t especially attractive. Moving to the run line gives this play a better angle.
Can the Rangers finally create some separation against Oakland? I think they can.
Additionally, Texas has enough offensive upside to turn a couple productive innings into the margin we need, while Oakland has stayed under in 3 of its last 5. The Athletics have made this season series competitive, but I’m banking on the Rangers’ home performance winning out.
I’ll back Rangers -1.5 and look for Texas to win by multiple runs.
