Ty Lue could run out two different starting lineups and arguably a third depending on how much you value their 14th and 15th man in the rotation.

That’s perfect for allowing Kawhi Leonard and John Wall load management days but it’s tough for the guys who are filling in. For those individuals, they have to maintain conditioning and be ready for the drastic changes from game to game.

One night they might not play at all, the next they could get limited run and touches and the third they could be the featured scorer in the rotation. Not every player has the ability to adapt to all those varying roles.

Reggie Jackson for example has scored eight, 14, nand zero points in the three Clippers games. His point totals aren’t the only fluctuations in those matches as he’ll appear comfortable and smooth then wildly erratic the next game.

The players and Lue will have to figure out how to address these issues this season at least until they reach the playoffs when all teams shrink their rotations to seven or eight players.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Although the Thunder will undoubtedly reach a stage this season where they sit players with arbitrary illnesses or insist a minor injury is season-ending in their attempt to tank for Wembanyama the current injury list is full of players who are actually hurt.

Unfortunately for the Thunder fan base, the list is primarily comprised of the core of the roster who are needed as the club seeks to break into the win column this season.

At the moment Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (hip) and Josh Giddey (ankle) are out and not expected to be in the lineup Tuesday. Rookie Chet Holmgren is lost for the season after suffering a Lisfranc fracture.

Jalen Williams was perhaps the best surprise in preseason but he too is out after sustaining an orbital bone fracture that will keep him out until November.

Head coach, Mark Daigneault has the unenviable task of developing his young assets while also keeping their spirits high with the constant losing.

And if that wasn’t enough, this franchise that missed the postseason just twice in their first 12 seasons has to worry about how they’ll flip the switch once they’re ready to stop the tanking process.

I’m a bit antsy about the point spread because the Clippers have a tendency to take their foot off the gas when ahead but it’s hard to pinpoint who’ll be providing the offense for OKC with SGA, Giddey, and Williams all out.
