Here’s why I’m backing a Tulane ATS bet below in my Green Wave 49ers free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Green Wave vs. 49ers Gameday
The Tulane Green Wave visit the Charlotte 49ers on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Tulane enters at 3-4, while Charlotte sits at 1-6.
Will Hall’s Green Wave are 1-2 in American Conference play and 0-3 on the road. Their season hasn’t gone according to plan.
A 42-19 home loss to UTSA was another setback.
Tulane needs a road breakthrough, while Charlotte is still searching for its first home win.
Tim Albin’s 49ers are also 1-2 in conference play. They finally broke through against Temple after six consecutive losses. That should give the home side something to build on.
Charlotte had an open week to prepare for this matchup. Extra practice helps, although there’s only so much a coach can repair in a few days.
Tulane has won both meetings between these programs.
Charlotte has yet to score a TD against the Green Wave.
Friday offers the 49ers another opportunity to change that. Tulane would rather keep the streak going.
It’s Week 9, Tulane Green Wave vs. Charlotte 49ers, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Tulane Green Wave vs. Charlotte 49ers Odds & Previous Games
Tulane opened at -421 on the moneyline, with Charlotte at +327. The Green Wave opened as 10.5-point favorites, leaving the 49ers at +10.5.
Tulane lost to UTSA 42-19, Army 20-17 and Kansas State 31-20. The Green Wave also defeated Memphis 31-17 and Southern Miss 24-21.
That’s two wins in their past five games.
Charlotte defeated Temple 38-31 but lost to North Texas 50-10 and Memphis 59-8. The 49ers also fell 26-21 to Appalachian State. Their results have been difficult to defend, literally.
Tulane shut out Charlotte 27-0 in 2025.
The Green Wave also won 34-3 in 2024 at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
That’s a combined 61-3 scoring advantage. Charlotte has considerable ground to make up.

49ers Stats
Charlotte has scored 134 points through seven games, averaging 19.1 PPG. The 49ers generate 310.9 total YPG, including 111.0 rushing YPG. Sustaining drives has been a recurring problem.
Henry Rutledge leads the rushing attack with 331 yards. Receiver Jaden Barnes has contributed 396 receiving yards.
Neither has received much consistent support.
Defensively, Charlotte allows 40.6 PPG and 465.1 total YPG. Opponents average 278.0 passing YPG, leaving the secondary under considerable pressure.
Charlotte’s defense has spent far too much time chasing opponents, and Tulane will be looking to take advantage.
The 49ers have recorded two interceptions and recovered two fumbles.
That’s limited production from a defense badly needing more takeaways.
Injuries have also affected Charlotte’s depth. Zayden Laing-Taylor, Kendal Brown and Latrell Sellers have been among the unavailable players.
Further defensive absences would make this assignment even tougher. Albin needs his remaining players to execute without giving away easy yardage.
Green Wave Stats
Tulane has scored 142 points, averaging 20.3 PPG. The Green Wave produce 332.0 total YPG, including 140.1 rushing YPG. Offensive consistency remains a major concern.
Johnnie Daniels leads the rushing attack with 394 yards. Destyn Hill has contributed 339 receiving yards.
Neither has been enough to solve every offensive problem.
Defensively, Tulane allows 24.6 PPG and 417.1 total YPG. Opponents average 214.0 rushing YPG, exposing a weakness against physical running attacks.
The Green Wave have recorded five interceptions and recovered five fumbles.
Those takeaways have helped compensate for some defensive shortcomings.
Creating turnovers remains important. Tulane needs more possessions when its offense struggles to finish drives.
Maurice Turner, Justin Agu, Chris Rodgers and Ty Thompson have all dealt with availability concerns. Their Friday status should not be considered settled without an updated report.
Hall needs more dependable execution throughout his lineup. Tulane has enough experience to improve, but that improvement needs to appear on the scoreboard.
Green Wave vs. 49ers QB Matchup
Charlotte QB Cole Gonzales has completed 79 of 127 passes for 802 yards, three TDs and seven interceptions. He’s appeared in five games, with turnovers becoming a major concern.
Gonzales has struggled to protect the football. Those mistakes have made Charlotte’s offensive problems worse.
Albin has another option available. Conner Harrell has thrown for 592 yards, three TDs and two interceptions on 72 attempts. He’s appeared in four games and gives Charlotte an alternative under center.
Charlotte’s starting assignment remains uncertain. Gonzales has handled the larger passing workload, but that doesn’t guarantee Friday’s start.
Tulane QB Kadin Semonza has completed 64 of 119 passes for 804 yards, four TDs and two interceptions. He’s appeared in six games, although the Green Wave have also turned to Trace Johnson.
Johnson has completed 37 of 70 passes for 465 yards, one TD and three interceptions. He started against UTSA, giving him recent experience running the offense.
Tulane’s Friday starter has not been confirmed.

Johnson needs to improve his decisions under pressure. Semonza offers more experience, although his production has also been inconsistent.
Charlotte faces a similar decision. Gonzales has struggled with interceptions, while Harrell offers a different option without an established record of sustained success.
Neither coaching staff can afford careless mistakes at QB. The team that protects possession and avoids unnecessary risks will give itself a better chance.
Tulane Green Wave vs. Charlotte 49ers bottom line: Tulane has been more dependable defensively, but both teams need cleaner QB play to turn their opportunities into points.

Green Wave 49ers Free Pick: Wave -10.5
Here is my Green Wave 49ers free pick: Tulane -10.5. The Green Wave have won 26 of their past 30 games as favorites. They’ve also won six straight coming off a loss.
Charlotte has won just six of its past 22 home games. Some home-field advantage that is.
I’m not giving the 49ers extra credit simply because they’re playing in their own stadium.
Charlotte has to show me it can compete for 4 quarters before I’ll trust it getting only 10.5 points.
Tulane has covered 20 of its past 28 road games. That’s the kind of history I want behind a double-digit favorite.
I’m laying the points because Charlotte hasn’t earned my respect at home.
Let the 49ers prove me wrong. My money’s on Tulane -10.5
