Bears vs. Knights Gameday
The Baylor Bears visit the UCF Knights on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Acrisure Bounce House in Orlando. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Both teams enter this Big 12 matchup at 4-3.
Baylor has lost two straight and owns a 1-1 record in true road games. The Bears also have a new man in charge after their latest setback.
Defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman takes over as interim head coach following Dave Aranda’s dismissal. That’s quite a change to make six days before kickoff.
Baylor arrives with a new coach, while UCF wants to turn its biggest win into another strong performance.
Scott Frost’s Knights are unbeaten in four home games.
They also enter Friday with fresh confidence after knocking off previously undefeated BYU.
Both teams are 2-2 in conference play. Another loss would make the climb through the Big 12 standings considerably tougher.
Baylor has won the past two meetings, including a convincing result in Waco last season.
UCF has the home crowd and momentum. Baylor has a coaching change and plenty to prove. Neither side should need much motivation.
It’s Week 9, Baylor Bears vs. UCF Knights, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Knights Stats
UCF has scored 229 points through seven games, averaging 32.7 PPG. The Knights generate 370.3 total YPG, including 163.3 on the ground. Their rushing attack has been the more dependable part of the offense.
Duke Watson leads the backfield with 577 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Josh Derry has added 358 receiving yards and 3 TDs.
Both give the Knights reliable options.
Defensively, UCF has allowed 161 points, averaging 23.0 PPG surrendered. Opponents gain 357.7 total YPG, but only 118.0 rushing YPG.
UCF has been considerably tougher against the run than the pass, a distinction Baylor will certainly notice.
The Knights have recorded 7 interceptions and recovered 5 fumbles.
Their 13 sacks have also helped disrupt opposing offenses.
Those takeaways can make life easier for Frost’s offense. The defense has shown it can create opportunities without needing to dominate every possession.
Taevion Swint has dealt with an injury, while Caleb Rollerson has also appeared on the injury report.
Depth matters against a Big 12 opponent. UCF needs its available playmakers ready for another physical matchup.
Bears Stats
Baylor has scored 204 points, averaging 29.1 PPG. The Bears produce 425.0 total YPG, including 278.9 passing YPG. Their passing attack has generated considerably more yardage than UCF’s.
Dawson Pendergrass leads the ground game with 331 rushing yards. Gavin Freeman has been the leading receiving threat with 678 yards and 2 TDs.
Freeman gives the Bears a dependable target.
Baylor’s defense has allowed only 113 points, an average of 16.1 PPG. Opponents have managed 340.1 total YPG against the Bears.
The pass rush has been particularly impressive.
Baylor has recorded 27 sacks, putting consistent pressure on opposing QBs.
The Bears have also collected 8 interceptions and recovered 5 fumbles. That ability to force mistakes has been one of their biggest strengths.
Jacob Redding is sidelined by a season-ending knee injury. The Bears have also dealt with other availability concerns, including injuries affecting their depth.
Klanderman inherits a defense that has delivered results. His immediate challenge is getting the entire team to respond after a difficult week.
Bears vs. Knights QB Matchup
UCF QB Keyone Jenkins has thrown for 1,099 yards, 11 TDs and 3 interceptions through seven games. He’s also contributed 4 rushing TDs.
Jenkins is coming off a strong performance against BYU, throwing for 293 yards and 3 TDs. His ability to extend plays gives the Knights another way to attack.
Frost has identified Jenkins as Friday’s starter.
Alonza Barnett III has appeared in two games, throwing for 344 yards, 2 TDs and 1 interception. He’s been recovering from a hamstring injury and is nearing a return.
Barnett gives UCF another experienced option. His health remains worth monitoring.
Baylor QB DJ Lagway has completed 113 of 217 passes for 1,352 yards, 9 TDs and 4 interceptions. He’s averaging 270.4 passing yards across five appearances.
Lagway has the arm talent to challenge UCF’s secondary. His 52.1% completion rate, however, shows that accuracy has been inconsistent.
Nate Bennett has also seen action, throwing for 581 yards, 6 TDs and 2 interceptions.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time!
Lagway gives Baylor the stronger downfield passing threat, but his decision-making will be important against an opportunistic defense. The Bears cannot afford to waste possessions with careless throws.
Jenkins brings more mobility and a different challenge for Baylor’s pass rush. He can escape pressure and create plays outside the pocket.
Both QBs have weapons available. The better performance may come from whichever passer handles third downs and protects the football.
Baylor Bears vs. UCF Knights bottom line: Jenkins brings momentum into Friday, while Lagway must deliver more consistent accuracy against a defense capable of forcing mistakes.

Bears Knights Free Pick: Over 48.5
Here is my Bears Knights free pick: Over 48.5. Baylor has the passing attack to put points on the board, and UCF has been getting the job done offensively at home. I’m not buying the idea that either team needs a perfect night to push this total past 48.5.
UCF’s ground game gives the Knights a way to sustain drives.
Baylor can answer through the air, particularly if the Bears are forced to play from behind.
There’s enough offensive talent here to make 49 points a reasonable target.
Give me two teams that can move the football and a total below 50, and I’ll take my chances.
I’m also looking at the game situation. With UCF laying only 1.5 points, this has the makings of a competitive fourth quarter rather than one team sitting on a comfortable lead.
That matters for an over.
Close games keep both offenses pushing, and a late score can finish the job. My college football betting system has me backing Over 48.5.
