Seminoles vs. Hurricanes Gameday
The Florida State Seminoles visit the No. 3 Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on ESPN. This Week 7 ACC rivalry brings together two programs having very different seasons.
Miami is 5-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play under Mario Cristobal. The Hurricanes have won both home games and enter Saturday following a bye week.
Florida State stands at 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. Mike Norvell’s Seminoles have dropped both road games this season, leaving them searching for their first victory away from Tallahassee.
Miami has controlled its schedule, while Florida State needs its best execution of the season.
The Seminoles have struggled to maintain consistency against stronger opponents. Their offensive talent is evident, but turnovers and defensive breakdowns have made sustained success difficult.
Miami has combined explosive offensive production with disciplined defense. Cristobal’s team has also avoided the extended stretches of poor execution that have troubled Florida State.
The Hurricanes have a clear advantage in momentum and overall performance. Florida State needs a much cleaner game than it delivered in its latest road appearance.
This rivalry rarely requires additional motivation.
It’s Week 7, Florida State Seminoles vs. Miami Hurricanes, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Hurricanes Stats
Miami has scored 248 points through five games, averaging nearly 50 per contest. The Hurricanes have produced 1,672 passing yards and 1,105 rushing yards, demonstrating considerable offensive balance.
The passing attack has been especially effective at generating explosive plays. Miami also has enough rushing production to keep defenses from concentrating exclusively on its receivers.
That balance has been a major advantage for Cristobal’s offense.
Miami can attack through the air or on the ground without sacrificing its offensive efficiency.
Defensively, the Hurricanes have allowed just 49 points through five games. Their defense has recorded 16 sacks and three interceptions.
Miami’s ability to create pressure has helped limit opposing scoring opportunities. The Hurricanes have been particularly effective when opponents face obvious passing situations.
Running back CharMar Brown and receiver Joshua Moore are out for the season. Offensive lineman Max Buchanan, tight end Luka Gilbert and defensive backs Ja’Boree Antoine and Romanas Frederique Jr. are also listed out for Saturday.
Seminoles Stats
Florida State has scored 186 points through six games, averaging 31 per contest. The Seminoles have produced 1,334 passing yards and more than 1,100 rushing yards.
Ousmane Kromah leads the ground game with 565 rushing yards and five TD’s. He averages better than five yards per carry and gives Florida State a dependable option between the tackles.
The Seminoles need that rushing production to keep their offense balanced.
Florida State has allowed 152 points, averaging more than 25 per game. The defense has recorded 18 sacks and three interceptions, with its pass rush providing one of the unit’s stronger elements.
Pressure hasn’t consistently translated into defensive stops. Opponents have found opportunities when Florida State fails to maintain coverage discipline.
Running back Samuel Singleton Jr. and receiver Devin Carter are out for Saturday. Defensive backs Karson Hobbs, Jamari Howard and Jordan Crutchfield, along with linebackers Blake Nichelson, Izayia Williams, Daylen Green and Noah LaVallee, are also unavailable.
Seminoles vs. Hurricanes QB Matchup
Miami QB Darian Mensah has thrown for 1,438 yards and 15 TD’s without an interception through five games. He has completed 112 of 133 passes, demonstrating outstanding accuracy and decision-making. Mensah has consistently identified favorable matchups and delivered the football on time. His ability to protect possession has been a major part of Miami’s offensive success.
Luke Nickel has provided depth behind Mensah, throwing for 204 yards and three TD’s in limited action. His experience gives Miami another option if needed. Florida State counters with Ashton Daniels, who has passed for 1,320 yards and eight TD’s against seven interceptions.
Daniels has completed 91 of 153 attempts through six games.
Daniels also brings a significant rushing dimension, with 323 yards and 10 TD’s on the ground. His mobility gives Florida State another way to challenge opposing defenses when passing lanes close.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Mensah has been considerably more efficient as a passer, while Daniels provides greater production as a runner. Those different skill sets create distinct challenges for the opposing defensive coordinators.
Kevin Sperry has completed two of three passes for 14 yards in limited appearances. Florida State continues to rely on Daniels to direct its offense.
Miami will try to contain Daniels without giving him easy throwing lanes, while Florida State needs to disrupt Mensah’s rhythm before he can attack downfield. Quarterback decision-making will be especially important when either offense faces pressure.
Florida State Seminoles vs. Miami Hurricanes bottom line: Miami has the stronger overall team and more efficient passing attack, while Florida State needs disciplined defense and productive quarterback play to stay competitive.

Seminoles Hurricanes Free Pick: Florida State +21
Here is my Seminoles Hurricanes free pick: I’m betting Florida State +21. Miami has earned its No. 3 ranking, but laying three touchdowns against an in-state rival is a serious price. The Hurricanes can be the better team from start to finish and still fail to cover this number. Florida State has lost 11 consecutive road games, so I’m not selling some magical Seminoles turnaround. The question is whether Miami can create enough separation to beat a spread this large.
My biggest concern is Florida State handing Miami points through turnovers. The Seminoles cannot afford short fields or defensive scores against an offense this dangerous.
Three touchdowns give Florida State a substantial cushion, even if Miami controls most of the game.
There’s a practical difference between protecting a comfortable lead and continuing to attack for four quarters. If Miami gets ahead by 17 or 20, the Hurricanes can lean on the running game and shorten the remaining possessions.
That leaves Florida State with a potential late scoring opportunity against a defense protecting the result rather than the point spread. I’m not counting on a backdoor TD to rescue a bad bet, but it is part of the value when taking this many points. Miami deserves to win this game, and I expect the Hurricanes to do exactly that. But the bookmakers are asking them to win by more than three touchdowns, and that’s where I draw the line.
FSU +21 is my Saturday night ACC bet.
