Cougars vs. Knights Gameday
The No. 2 BYU Cougars visit the UCF Knights on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Acrisure Bounce House in Orlando. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX. BYU enters 6-0, while UCF stands at 3-3.
Kalani Sitake’s Cougars are 3-0 in Big 12 play and undefeated on the road. Their rise to No. 2 has put them firmly in the national championship conversation.
Staying there requires another difficult road victory.
BYU brings the ranking, but UCF has a perfect home record and a restless Homecoming crowd.
Scott Frost’s Knights are 1-2 in conference play and returning from a bye. They’ve won all three home games but lost every road contest.
UCF has dropped two straight, making Saturday a chance to revive its season. BYU will be the highest-ranked opponent ever to visit the Bounce House.
It’s Week 8, BYU Cougars vs. UCF Knights, hopefully we get a great matchup.

BYU defeated Notre Dame 28-24, Iowa State 24-10 and TCU 17-10. Earlier victories included Colorado State 41-23 and Arizona 28-17.
The Cougars have won close games without losing their composure.
UCF fell to Oklahoma State 42-28 and Houston 27-17. The Knights previously beat TCU 21-13 and Georgia State 44-30 but lost to Pittsburgh 12-7.
BYU has won three straight meetings, including a 41-21 victory in 2025. The Cougars also won 37-24 in Orlando in 2024.

Knights Stats
UCF averages 31.7 points and 354.8 yards per game. Its rushing attack produces 162.2 yards per contest, with Duke Watson leading the backfield at 483 yards and three touchdowns. The Knights have enough speed to threaten defenses when their blocking holds up.
Josh Derry leads the receivers with 304 yards and two touchdowns. His production gives Frost another option when opponents crowd the line of scrimmage.
Consistency remains the problem.
Defensively, UCF allows 21.7 points and 355.2 yards per game. The Knights have collected 12 sacks, six interceptions and five fumble recoveries.
UCF can create turnovers, but stopping BYU’s balanced offense will require disciplined tackling.
The Knights surrender 118.3 rushing yards per contest, a respectable figure. Their pass defense has been more vulnerable, allowing 236.8 yards per game.
That imbalance gives UCF’s secondary a demanding assignment against BYU’s receivers.
Cougars Stats
BYU averages 33.5 points and 421.2 yards per game. The Cougars rush for 206.7 yards per contest, giving Sitake a physical foundation. They’ve controlled games without relying exclusively on explosive passing plays.
LJ Martin has rushed for 344 yards and three touchdowns but remains questionable with an ankle injury. Preston Rex and Journee Tonga have helped carry the load.
BYU hasn’t stopped running the football without him.
Defensively, the Cougars allow just 15.2 points and 274.7 yards per game. Opponents average only 86.2 rushing yards, making BYU one of the nation’s toughest teams to run against.
The defense has recorded 11 sacks and six interceptions. Its disciplined coverage has consistently forced opponents into difficult third downs.
Legend Glasker leads BYU’s receivers with 444 yards and three touchdowns. Kyler Kasper adds 244 yards and three scores, giving the Cougars multiple downfield threats.
BYU converts 56.5% of its third downs. That’s the kind of efficiency that wears down a defense.
Cougars vs. Knights QB Matchup
Keyone Jenkins is UCF’s expected starter, having thrown for 806 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions. His 70.3% completion rate reflects improved accuracy, particularly on shorter throws. He’ll need quick decisions against BYU’s disciplined defense.
Jenkins threw four touchdowns against Oklahoma State, completing 30 of 42 passes for 265 yards. That performance demonstrated his ability to produce when UCF opens its offense.
Alonza Barnett III remains doubtful with a hamstring injury.
BYU counters with Bear Bachmeier, who has thrown for 1,257 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. His 65.8% completion rate has helped the Cougars sustain drives.
Bachmeier also threatens defenses as a runner, especially near the goal line. That versatility complicates UCF’s defensive assignments.
Both quarterbacks can extend plays, although Bachmeier has been the more established leader. Jenkins faces the tougher defensive matchup.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time!
UCF must protect Jenkins long enough to challenge BYU’s secondary. Quick throws can help neutralize pressure, but predictable passing situations would favor the Cougars.
Bachmeier faces a Knights defense capable of forcing turnovers. UCF needs to generate pressure without giving him easy running lanes.
Third-down execution will be critical for both quarterbacks. The team that avoids negative plays should have a considerable advantage in controlling possession.
BYU Cougars vs. UCF Knights bottom line: BYU owns the stronger defense and more efficient offense, but UCF’s ability to pressure the quarterback could make this a demanding road test.

Cougars Knights Free Pick: UCF +6.5
Here is my Cougars Knights free pick: UCF +6.5. BYU is undefeated and deserves respect, but nearly a touchdown is a hefty price against a rested home underdog. The Cougars are walking into a tougher spot than that ranking suggests.
UCF has covered three of four as an underdog, and Scott Frost has had extra time to prepare. The Knights don’t need to outplay BYU for 60 minutes.
They need to make the favorite work.
I’m buying the points, not predicting a UCF upset.
BYU is coming off an emotional Notre Dame victory, and the Cougars now face a hungry opponent with nothing to lose. That’s a lousy combination for anyone laying points on the road.
I’ll take the home dog in a game that could stay uncomfortable for BYU until the final whistle. No need to get cute here. **UCF +6.5**.
