Baylor’s only win came against lowly Kansas last year. So, it can only get better this year. The good news for Baylor is that Rhule seems to be cleaning things up and doing things the right way.
It may take awhile before Baylor actually competes for a Big 12 title again, but in terms of the big picture they seem to be headed in the right direction.
It maybe thousands of miles away and the road their traveling is horribly rocky, but they are headed in the right direction, at least.
2018 Baylor Bears Predictions: Team Strengths
Quarterback Found: It took awhile, but it seems as though Baylor found their quarterback last year. Charlie Brewer took over as the starter for the final four games and he was very good. Brewer threw for eleven touchdowns and four interceptions with a 68% completion percentage.

Reinforcements: If Brewer is hurt or isn’t playing up to par, Baylor will have the opportunity to turn to N.C. State transfer Jalan McClendon.
The big impact player that transferred over to Baylor last year was Jalen Hurd. The former Tennessee Volunteer was an impact player for Tennessee his first two years. He totaled over 1,120 yards and 1,475 yards from scrimmage his first two years.
While Hurd ran for 1,285 yards and twelve rushing touchdowns in his sophomore year, Hurd will be used primarily as a receiver for Baylor.
2018 Baylor Bears Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Youth & Young Manhood: Having underclassmen is good for a program to continue to replenish and continue to have success in the future. But, when virtually your entire team is full of young, green players, that could pose a problem for the now.
In the future, it should be good, but the here and now there will be growing pains.

Are You Experienced?: The offensive line is a good news, bad news situation. The good news is that basically the entire offensive line from last year is back. The bad news is that they were awful.
The offensive line allowed thirty eight sacks last year. You need an offensive line to be successful and if the Bears want to keep up in the Big 12, their offensive line is going to have to play a whole lot better.
Baylor Bears Prediction: 4-8
The good news for Baylor is that their non conference schedule is soft. The bad news is that is was soft last year, as well, and they put up a big goose egg.
I will assume that they will win their first game and they have two more winnable games against UTSA and Duke. Those aren’t stone cold locks, but they are very winnable games. Then they get Kansas to open up the conference schedule.
Realistically, they should be 3-1 and they absolutely could be 4-0. After that things get pretty hairy. It’s tough to see them winning any other games on this schedule, but maybe they fall into one.

I gotta think they’ll be underdogs against everybody else they play. So, for me, I think four wins is a pretty safe bet. Either they start the season off 4-0 or they start the season off 3-1 and they sneak in a win against someone.
Maybe they upset Oklahoma State at their homecoming game, maybe they beat Texas Tech in the season finale.
Either way, I think this is at least a three win team and if things break their way they can get to five. I’ll split the difference and say they win four games this year.
