After the most predictable postseason in recent memory, we are exactly where we expected to be as the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals for the third year in a row.
These two titans have been on a collision course since the end of last season, and it is finally time for this epic clash to begin.
The Cavaliers had relatively no trouble running through the Eastern Conference on their way to the Finals, despite the fact that they entered the postseason as the second seed in the East.
They lost only one game in all of the playoffs– a feat which would have been incredible, were it not for their opponents.
The Warriors never had to turn off cruise control, as they demolished their opposition and went undefeated on the way here.

Golden State is the first team in NBA history to go 12-0 in the playoffs, but the real test is just ahead as they seek to regain the title in round three of Cavs vs. Warriors.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The defending NBA Champions cruised through the Eastern Conference on the way to a rematch with the Warriors. Their only loss in the playoffs came in Game 3 of the conference finals, as they were upset at home by the Boston Celtics.
Although the Cavs were clearly the best team in the East, they had their struggles during the regular season, particularly on the defensive side. However, it seems as though they knew as well as everyone that the regular season was irrelevant for them, and LeBron and company ratcheted up the D in the playoffs on the way to their third straight NBA Finals appearance.
While Cleveland is heading to the championship round for the third year in a row, LeBron James is making his seventh straight Finals appearance– an unprecedented achievement in the modern era.
James leads the Cavaliers with 32.5 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and 2.15 steals per game in the playoffs.

Kyrie Irving has added 24.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and been absolutely unstoppable in clutch moments. Kevin Love has finally found his place in Cleveland and is having the best postseason of his career with 17.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have been on a mission of retribution and redemption after giving up a 3-1 series lead in last year’s NBA Finals and losing three straight to Champion Cavaliers. They feel as though they let the championship slip through their fingers and do not plan on allowing that to happen again.
Golden State was already a juggernaut that year, winning an NBA record 73 games in the regular season, and then they added a top five player in Kevin Durant during the offseason.
They rolled through the first two rounds of this year’s playoffs, barely breaking a sweat against the Portland Trail Blazers and the Utah Jazz.
It looked as though they would have a battle on their hands with the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, before Zaza Pachulia made the play of the series in Game 1 and knocked Kawhi Leonard out for the remainder of the playoffs.
The Warriors probably would have won that series even with a healthy Leonard, but it would have been fun to see them tested. As things turned out, Golden State became the first team in NBA history to go 12-0 in the postseason, and they did it in dominant fashion with an average point differential of +16.3.
Free Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors NBA Series Prediction:
The Cavaliers will always have the best player on the floor, and when LeBron and Kyrie are locked in like they have been recently, no team in the NBA can stop either of them. They have the best bench in the league, and their role players contribute perfectly to create an offensive beast.
But the Warriors are just as explosive on offense, and they have the more consistent defense in this matchup. They have an advantage at the guard position but not by as much as it seems.

Klay Thompson has been off all postseason, and Kyrie Irving has gotten the better of Stephen Curry in the previous two Finals.
Many people understandably expect Kevin Durant to be the difference this year, but he is notorious for coming up small in the biggest moments throughout his career.
I expect another Kevin (Love) to be the X-factor in this series, and he should get 20 and 10 in multiple games, perfectly complimenting the unstoppable offense of James and Irving.
The Cavs have the advantage up front and should be able to win on the boards and in the paint. With Steve Kerr out, they also have the coaching advantage.
If they can also win the turnover battle and play solid defense, they could be able to repeat as champions. I expect them to.
