Let’s take a look in Ray Monohan’s Week 12 NFL Power Rankings.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (9-1)
– Last Week: 1
The Cowboys were the only team with a chance at catching the Eagles in the NFC East, and after last season’s second-half collapse, there was some concern the same would happen with this group.
Instead, Philadelphia handled Dallas rather easily. The Eagles are just so good on both sides of the football, and they’re doing a decent job of staying healthy, which is key if this group is going to reach its potential.
2. New England Patriots (8-2)
– Last Week: 2
The slow start the Patriots endured is a distant memory, and so too are concerns that Tom Brady was slowing down.

The more important development, though, is the Patriot defense really tightening up. There’s so much talent in the secondary that it was just a matter of time before Bill Belichick figured out which levers to pull.
3. New Orleans Saints (8-2)
– Last Week: 7
What’s different about this Saints team than recent versions during the Payton-Brees era is that this group has been winning with a strong running game and stout pass defense.
That wasn’t the case this past Sunday, but the Saints showed that they could turn back the clocks and lean on their passing game, so that’s a good tool to have in their chest.
4. Minnesota Vikings (8-2)
– Last Week: 4
The Vikings continue to win despite starting the third-best quarterback on their roster. Case Keenum is certainly better than a lot of backups, but he’s prone to the occasional mental lapse, though that hasn’t really been the case of late. Even so, you have to imagine there’s a short leash on him.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-2)
– Last Week: 5
It was only a matter of time before the Steelers’ offense exploded for the kind of game they enjoyed on Thursday. That group could only be kept down for so long.

Couple that high-powered offense with the major strides forward the defense has taken this season and this is a team that’s going to make a lot of noise come playoff time.
6. Carolina Panthers (7-3)
– Last Week: 8
As has been the case all season long, few things help a team’s standing in the power rankings like a bye week.
The Panthers were idle and watching a couple of the teams in front of them fall by the wayside. It’s still tough to fully trust this group, which has fallen flat on its face a few times this season, and the receiving corps keeps taking hits, but when they’re on, they can compete with anyone.
7. Kansas City Chiefs (7-3)
– Last Week: 6
We’ve seen the Chiefs look so good this season it’s hard to jump off their bandwagon even following an ugly loss like the one they suffered to the Giants on Sunday. But there’s still a lot to like about this team, and while the nay-sayers may be calling for a change at quarterback, that’s not the spot that’s held this team back.
8. Los Angeles Rams (7-3)
– Last Week: 7
The Rams are coming off a loss, and this is another team it’s easy to give up on at the first sight of weakness given some of the difficulties they’ve had in recent years, but the coaching staff is doing some wonderful things and has gotten this squad to buy in to the program.
9. Atlanta Falcons (6-4)
– Last Week: 10
The Falcons took some time to get their offense rolling under a new offensive coordinator, but they’re rolling now following a win over the Seahawks in Seattle on Monday night. They’re finally looking like the team that went to the Super Bowl a year ago.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars (7-3)
– Last Week: 13
It’s tough to remember a time when the Jaguars were this competitive this late into the season. They’re doing it on the back of a solid defense and a very good running game, led by rookie Leonard Fournette. They could use some better quarterback play, but if they can continue to play with the lead, they’ll be dangerous.
