MLB BASEBALL FUTURES ODDS – 2020 NL West PREDICTIONS
Looking for 2020 NL West Predictions? The Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series in 2020 and there is no team with a wider gap between it and the rest of the divisional competition.
MLB Predictions – 2020 NL West Handicapping Insight
Here’s a closer look at the 2020 NL West.
Los Angeles Dodgers 2020 NL West Predictions
Dodgers NL West Division Odds: -750
Dodgers Win Total Odds (latest based on 162 games): 101.5 (Over -125)
Dodgers World Series Odds: +375
The Dodgers are an all-star team but offer just $2 for every $15 wagered on them to win the NL West. Some would automatically determine that price is just too high.
But what else can happen in this division? Not only are the Dodgers at least as talented as any team in baseball, the NL West doesn’t have a viable challenger. Winning a bet on the Dodgers to take the division returns better than 12 percent.
And if the regular season is only three months, that’s not a bad get for the time period.
Of course, if the regular season is only three months, it’s easier to see a team like San Diego or Arizona getting hot, the Dodgers struggling and something unthinkable happening in the division.
It’s still just really hard to see that happening.
San Diego Padres 2020 NL West Predictions
Padres NL West Division Odds: +1100
Padres Win Total Odds (latest based on 162 games): 82.5 (Over -130)
Padres World Series Odds: +5000
The Padres are slightly cheaper in the futures market than Arizona but San Diego certainly has the more star-studded roster, potentially.
The young core got its first taste of big league action in 2019. Fernando Tatis Jr had a 152 OPS+ in just over half a season and Chris Paddack looked like a future ace in the first half before faltering in the second.
But the Padres let go of their manager Andy Green, who has gone on to help David Ross in Chicago. Green was a good one and now the Padres have trusted their future with Jayce Tingler, who was most recently a player development field coordinator for Texas; this will be his first managerial position in the Majors.
Arizona Diamondbacks 2020 NL West Predictions
Diamondbacks NL West Division Odds: +900
Diamondbacks Win Total Odds (latest based on 162 games): 83.5 (Over -130)
Diamondbacks World Series Odds: +5000
The Diamondbacks traded Zack Greinke in the middle of last season but replaced him at the top of their rotation with Madison Bumgarner this winter.
The rest of the rotation is fairly young and inexperienced but not to be overlooked. Luke Weaver, who came over in the Paul Goldschmidt trade over a year ago now, looked good before getting hurt in the first half of the season and Zac Gallen has attracted some attention in the Cy Young markets.
Ketel Marte may be the newest and biggest second base slugger in the game now and David Peralta is an offense force, if he can stay healthy. From a practical standpoint, Arizona ought to be the second-highest priced in the division, as it is.
Colorado Rockies 2020 NL West Predictions
Rockies NL West Division Odds: +2800
Rockies Win Total Odds (latest based on 162 games): 74.5 (Under -130)
Rockies World Series Odds: +15000
The Rockies are running it back after locking in Nolan Arenado for another eight years over the offseason. He and Trevor Story make a fearsome middle of the lineup for the Rockies.
But the pitching looks just like it was last season, when it was one of the worst units in the league. It probably can’t get much worse than it was a year ago but the names just don’t inspire any optimism.
It’s a lot easier to see this team selling at the Trade Deadline (if there is a Trade Deadline this season) than it is seeing it making a run at the postseason.
San Francisco Giants 2020 NL West Predictions
Giants NL West Division Odds: +8000
Giants Win Total Odds (latest based on 162 games): 68.5
Giants World Series Odds: +25000
Then again, the Giants’ ace is Johnny Cueto.
Neither the Rockies nor the Giants will likely be any good this season but the Giants have such low expectations that it won’t be too difficult for them to exceed them and make the season feel okay. The Rockies still have enough talent that a 100-loss season would give the fans a sick feeling.
CappersPicks.com 2020 NL West Predictions
The Dodgers are a little too expensive for my blood but neither the D’Backs nor the Padres are offering anything worth a serious look. This whole division is a pass.
