Here’s a look at three favorites, two teams from the middle of the pack, and two long shots to win the 2018 World Series.
Updated November 2017 World Series Futures Betting Odds for 2018
Cleveland Indians +600
The Indians were the World Series favorites when the ALDS shifted to New York. Then the Yankees got some momentum at home and Cleveland never got back on the saddle.
The Indians have some guys to deal with in free agency, notably Jay Bruce, Bryant Shaw and Carlos Santana.
Santana will be the priority. Bruce had a great run in Cleveland but he was always looked upon as more of a rental guy and while it would be nice to bring Bryan Shaw back, Cleveland will probably prefer to replace him from within, which it certainly is capable of doing.

The bigger question is whether or not Terry Francona will be back. Tito has had some health problems and if he does come back, it won’t be for long. It may not have to be; with Francona back at the helm, the Indians are my favorite and plus value at +600.
Chicago Cubs +1000
Jake Arrieta is expected to go but he wasn’t the same pitcher this season that he was last. That trend is likely to continue through whatever big contract he gets next.
Regardless, the Cubs have to find some more pitching. They were outdone by the Dodgers in the NLCS this season because their staff just wasn’t as deep.
The good news is that if they are able to find some arms, the lineup is ready to go. This is a great core that Theo and the rest of the front office don’t want to waste even a year of. The Cubs will reload and regain their spot as the NL favorite eventually.
Los Angeles Dodgers +500
Then there are the Dodgers, who I don’t love but are probably about a break-even play at +500. Come so close before falling short can have different effects on a team but one can be an burning desire to get back and conquer.
Yu Darvish probable won’t be back and it isn’t because he got lit up twice in the World Series. The Dodgers don’t want to commit that sort of money to one pitcher and for good reason. This is a shrewd front office and your best advantage to taking LA in this spot.

Los Angeles Angels +5000
The Angels missed the playoffs again last season but made a push at the end. Had Mike Trout not missed time in the summer, Los Angeles might have been there.
The Angels opened free agent season by resigning Justin Upton to a five-year deal worth nine figures. Now what they really need is some pitching. It doesn’t have to — and, in fact, shouldn’t — come in the form of a big splash but rather some small moves here and there to go along with some promotion from within.
San Francisco Giants +5000
The Giants had a terrible 2017 but a healthy Madison Bumgarner and the Major’s home run champion potentially on his way could have San Fran in for a big turnaround in 2018.
The Giants are really losing anyone and if they do lang Giancarlo Stanton, they will be in the mix in a loaded NL West.

Minnesota Twins +8000
I was surprised to see the Twins in this group at 80-1. Those are the second-longest odds in the field! You can’t put the Twins’ chances on par with the Padres or Reds.
Minnesota got the taste of playoff baseball this season after a massive turnaround following a 59-win season in 2016. The Twins are really losing anybody to free agency and all of those young guys will get another offseason to develop further. If Byron Buxton’s second-half offense is for real, he will be an MVP candidate next season.
Oakland Athletics +8000
The A’s have been bad enough for long enough now. Oakland is always a bit of a mystery because it relies upon young kids and prospects from within.
The offense looks like it could be formidable in 2018 with a core of young sluggers. Matt Olson came onto the scene in 2017 to hit 24 homers in 59 games. Ryon Healy and Khris Davis combined for 68 long balls. Those three could hit 100 in a full season together.
The starting pitching didn’t stay healthy enough to compete at a high level in 2017 but there are some arms I like, including Sean Manaea and Kendall Graveman.
The A’s are a good long-shot.
