NFL Handicapping Insight
Lucky for you, we’ve got the guys to keep tabs on here in one convenient location.
Below we will highlight a few of the favorites, a sleeper and a long shot who could come in and surprise everyone and win the player of the year award
2018 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Lines: J.J. Watt (+350)
J.J. Watt missed all of the 2016 season after having two back surgeries, but he his healthy now and primed for a big 2017 season, and comes into this year the favorite to win the defensive player of the year award.
He constantly demands double teams and also has another huge thing going for him this year.
Jadeveon Clowney is healthy and will line up opposite of Watt. The defense will have to pick which guy they want to double, because they can’t double both.
That will really open up his chances this year to have maybe the best stats of the year.
2018 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Lines: Khalil Mack (+500)
Khalil Mack is also a defensive end, and comes into this season with the second best odds to be named the player of the year.
Last year was actually a down year for him finishing with 11 sacks. After finishing the 2015 season with 15 sacks he will try to get back to that production this year.
2018 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Lines: Danielle Hunter (+2200)
Danielle Hunter is probably the best defensive player you have never heard of, or at least don’t know much about.
He is a defensive end for the Vikings, and has been in a rotation to start his career, and now that he is the full time starter is primed for a huge year.
Last year he finished the season with 12.5 sacks and only played at most 3/4 of the snaps per game. This year he will be on the field for almost every play and should take a step forward.
2018 Defensive Player of the Year MVP Lines: Marcus Peters (+3300)
Marcus Peters has quickly made himself one of the best corner backs in all of football, and week in and week out he is the guy matching up against the opposing teams number one.
In his first two seasons he has 14 interceptions and two touchdowns. Last year he also added two fumble recoveries.
Opposing quarterbacks have actually started to avoid throwing to his side of the field though, so that could hurt his interception record.
2018 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Lines: Eric Berry (+6600)
Eric Berry is getting up there in age but still is a real feel good story after surviving cancer, and coming back to play high level football.
Last year he was able to pick off four passes and return two of them to house. He will also be getting more balls thrown his direction with teams shading away from Marcus Peters.
He should have plenty of opportunities to rack up the interceptions.
