Sunday, March 6th. the Phoenix Suns play the Milwaukee Bucks for the second and final time this season. In the initial meeting the Suns won 131-107. It was the first time the teams had played since the NBA Finals and the Suns had a statement to make.
This time the game will be very different given the starting backcourt for the Suns are both out. Both teams played Friday with the Suns beating the Knicks 115-114 while the Bucks defeated the Bulls 118-112.
Last season the clubs played twice with Phoenix winning both contests. The Suns hold the all-time record having bested the Bucks in 76 of their 147 matches
Phoenix Suns
Having won the initial meeting versus Milwaukee this game won’t have the same pressure on it, especially with both Chris Paul and Devin Booker out.
One lesson the Bucks should take from the last Suns game is not to tick off Cam Johnson. Phoenix was trailing by 14 points when Julius Randle and Johnson bumped chests, had words, and received techs but Randle didn’t stop and ended up being ejected.
Johnson felt Randle had delivered a cheap shot earlier in the match but this action proved to be all that was necessary to spark his competitive juices as he scored 38 points including nine (of 12 attempts) 3-pointers.
Cameron Payne registered a double-double of 17 points and 16 assists while Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder scored 20 and 14 respectively.
Johnson (quad) is out Sunday as is Booker who remains in quarantine. Chris Paul (thumb), Dario Saric (knee), and Frank Kaminsky (knee) are out indefinitely.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks are on a three-game win streak with important wins versus the Heat and Bulls included in that trio. They are ramping up their efforts and looking to build momentum as they progress toward the postseason.
While they’ve approached this season with a relaxed attitude it feels like that chilled Mr. Nice Guy eating wings at post-game press conferences might be gone now.
To that end, it’s also likely (even though they know Phoenix is shorthanded) they send a reminder message to the Suns today.
Wes Matthews (hamstring) and George Hill (neck) are out Sunday. Pat Connaughton (finger) and Brook Lopez (back) are out indefinitely.

Free Phoenix Suns vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction
This should be a relatively straightforward victory for the Bucks but the scrappy Suns’ youngsters won’t make it an easy win. As Johnson proved on Friday they won’t be pushed around and just because CP3 and Booker are out they can’t be underestimated.
Still, with Milwaukee building toward the postseason and defending their title they flipped a switch this last week and aren’t taking any games lightly anymore.
Johnson is also out in this match so I’m taking the Bucks to cover.
