2020 Players Championship Betting Odds:
Rory McIlroy +750
Rory returns to the Players as the overwhelming favorite to repeat as champion. The world #1 has been playing extraordinarily well this season, and has finished top-5 in his last seven consecutive Tour starts.
However, it’s worth noting that there has never been a back-to-back champion at this event. Ever.
Jon Rahm +1250
Rahm was looking good at the players last year… through Saturday. He posted a four-over on Sunday to fall outside the top-10.
Which could be a reason to consider Rahm in this tournament; consider it a bounce-back week. He’s got a long drive and is aces with his long irons.
Justin Thomas +1400
Although Justin Thomas recently relinquished his FedEx Cup lead, he’s still been having a stellar season with five top-10s and two wins.
Two big reasons to take Justin Thomas here:
-He’s taken the last two weeks off to prep for this event. So he’s well rested.
-He’s never missed the cut at The Players Championship.
2020 Players Championship Free Picks (Our Recommended Betting Plays):
Justin Thomas +1400
To re-iterate: Thomas has taken some time off to prep for this event, and has never missed the cut here.
He’s also been playing well recently. He’s had finishes of T-3 at the Phoenix Open and a T-6 at the WGC-Mexico.
Thomas is in good form, has incredibly strong iron play and has yet to win this tournament. I think this makes The Players a good spot for JT to pick up his third win of the Tour season.
Bryson DeChambeau +2000
My friend tipped me off on this pick:
“Look at his recent results [which include a 4th at the Arnold Palmer, a 2nd at the WGC-Mexico, and a T-5th at the Phoenix Open]. He’s also overdue, and I think he’s bound to win on a big stage this year. Be it here or a major.”
What he said. Also coming off a top-20 at The Players last year.
Webb Simpson +2800
Webb Simpson top-5 +600
Webb Simpson top-10 +270
Right now, Webb has that deadly combination of: Playing really well at this event in the past and playing really well recently.
Simpson notched T-16s in both 2017 and 2019, while winning the tournament in 2018! Additionally, in his ten starts here at TPC Sawgrass, Simpson has four top-10 finishes.
Before his incredibly lackluster performance at WGC-Mexcio, he was on a run of: Five consecutive top-10 results, six top-3 finishes in the last year, and a win at the Phoenix Open.
I’m really high on Webb Simpson, and think it’s worth it to throw a little money at all of these lines.
