2026 NHL Handicapping – Winnipeg Jets vs Florida Panthers
Here’s why I’m backing an OVER bet below in my Jets Panthers free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Jets vs. Panthers Gameday
The Winnipeg Jets visit the Florida Panthers on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Amerant Bank Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET, with the game available on ESPN+.
Scott Arniel’s Jets are 4-6-3 and haven’t won since October 13. Their current 0-5-2 slide has turned a promising start into a miserable stretch of hockey.
Winnipeg needs a win badly, and Florida isn’t running a charity operation.
Paul Maurice’s Panthers are 7-4-2 and have won consecutive games. They’ve also taken 5 of their L7, giving them considerably more momentum than their visitors.
Winnipeg lost 6-4 in Tampa Bay on Thursday after surrendering 4 second-period goals. The Jets made a late push but couldn’t overcome the damage.
Florida has handled several important injuries without falling apart. That’s the kind of depth Maurice expects from a club with championship ambitions.
These teams met Tuesday in Winnipeg, where the Panthers won 5-1. Florida scored 3 times in the opening period and never gave the Jets much room to recover.
The quick rematch gives Winnipeg a chance to respond, but the schedule isn’t doing the Jets any favors. Playing consecutive nights against strong opponents is a tough assignment.

Winnipeg Jets vs. Florida Panthers Odds & Previous Games
Florida opened as a -228 moneyline favorite, with Winnipeg at +191. The Panthers are +108 laying 1.5 goals, while the Jets are -131 taking 1.5.
The total is 6.5 goals, with the Under priced at -135. Bookmakers are asking bettors to clear a fairly high number despite Winnipeg’s offensive inconsistency.
The Jets have lost their L5 to Tampa Bay 6-4, Florida 5-1, Montreal 2-1, Dallas 3-2 and St. Louis 2-1. Four of those games were decided by 2 goals or fewer.
Florida has won 3 of its L5, including victories over Winnipeg and Chicago. The Panthers also lost to Pittsburgh and Ottawa during that stretch.
Florida has enjoyed the stronger recent results between these teams. Winnipeg has beaten the Panthers in previous seasons, but Tuesday’s meeting showed how quickly Florida can take control.
The Panthers have been effective at home, while the Jets are trying to regain their confidence on the road. Florida’s recent form explains the substantial favorite price.

Panthers Stats
Florida has scored 39 goals through 13 games, averaging 3.00 per contest. Its offense has remained productive despite missing several established contributors.
The Panthers have scored 14 power-play goals, converting at 23.0%. Their ability to capitalize on penalties has been one of their biggest strengths.
Florida has also recorded 423 hits, ranking among the NHL’s most physical teams. Maurice’s club makes opponents work for possession rather than giving away easy opportunities.
Florida’s power play has been doing its job, which is more than Winnipeg can say about its penalty killing.
Matthew Tkachuk leads the Panthers with 20 points, including 16 assists. Brady Tkachuk has added a team-high 8 goals.
Seth Jones has contributed 14 assists from the blue line. His ability to move the puck gives Florida another way to create offense.
Defensively, the Panthers have allowed 35 goals. Their goaltending and defensive structure have helped keep opponents from consistently generating quality chances.
Aleksander Barkov, Brad Marchand and Jacob Markstrom remain sidelined. Florida has continued winning despite those absences, which says plenty about its available depth.
Jets Stats
Winnipeg has scored 32 goals through 13 games, averaging 2.46 per contest. The Jets have generated 345 shots but haven’t consistently turned those opportunities into goals.
Kyle Connor leads the team with 10 goals and 14 points. Mark Scheifele and Cole Perfetti have contributed 11 points apiece.
The Jets have scored 6 power-play goals this season. Their inability to consistently capitalize with the man advantage has made their recent struggles even worse.
Winnipeg has surrendered 40 goals through 13 games. Defensive mistakes have become particularly costly when the team falls behind early.
Neal Pionk scored twice against Tampa Bay, while Scheifele collected 3 assists. The Jets showed some offensive life after Scott Arniel separated Scheifele and Connor on different lines.
Josh Morrissey remains sidelined with an upper-body injury. His absence has weakened Winnipeg’s defensive group and reduced its puck-moving ability.
The Jets recently acquired Dawson Mercer and Nico Daws in the trade that sent Connor Hellebuyck to New Jersey. Adjusting to such a significant roster change hasn’t been easy.
Jets vs. Panthers Goalie Matchup
Winnipeg’s starting goalie remains unconfirmed following Thursday’s loss. Stuart Skinner was pulled after allowing 5 goals on 21 shots against Tampa Bay.
Nico Daws replaced Skinner and stopped all 9 shots he faced. It was his first appearance with Winnipeg since arriving from New Jersey.
Daws is an option for Friday, although the Jets have not announced their starter. The short turnaround could influence Arniel’s decision.
Florida has relied on Akira Schmid during Markstrom’s absence. Schmid has a 4-2-1 record and has provided useful performances for Maurice’s club.
Schmid stopped 24 of 25 shots in Tuesday’s meeting with Winnipeg. He was steady throughout the game and gave Florida little reason to worry about its crease.
The Panthers could return to Schmid for the rematch, but that assignment remains unconfirmed. Cooper Black is another available option.

Winnipeg needs better coverage around its net, regardless of who starts. Changing goalies won’t fix missed assignments or poor defensive-zone decisions.
Florida’s recent goaltending has been more dependable, although the Panthers still need to maintain their defensive discipline. Both clubs have important decisions to make before puck drop.
Winnipeg Jets vs. Florida Panthers bottom line: Florida brings the stronger recent form and offensive depth, while Winnipeg must tighten its defensive coverage to end a frustrating losing streak.

- The Jets have gone under the total in 3 of their last 5 games this season.

Jets Panthers Free Pick: Over 6.5
Here is my Jets Panthers free pick: I’m taking Over 6.5. Florida is the better club, but I’m not interested in paying -228 on the moneyline. I see a better opportunity with the total.
The Panthers have gone Over in 3 of their L5, and their offense has enough firepower to do some serious damage. Winnipeg has struggled defensively, giving Florida plenty of opportunities to control the pace.
The Jets are making enough defensive mistakes to keep opposing scorers busy, and Florida doesn’t need much encouragement.
Winnipeg has gone Under in 3 of its L5, but that’s not enough to scare me away. The Jets finally showed some scoring life Thursday, and I expect them to take more chances rather than sit back and accept another loss.
There’s also a game-state angle I like. If Florida builds a lead, Winnipeg has to open things up, and that creates room for the Panthers to counterattack.
A close game late could bring an empty-net opportunity into play.
I’m not asking the Jets to suddenly become an offensive powerhouse. Give me a couple of goals from Winnipeg and let Florida handle the heavy lifting.
Seven goals is within reach, and I’m attacking Over 6.5.
