2026 NHL Handicapping – New Jersey Devils vs Vegas Golden Knights
Here’s why I’m backing an UNDER bet below in my Devils Golden Knights free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Devils vs. Golden Knights Gameday
The New Jersey Devils visit the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, October 30, 2026, at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 PM ET on NHL Network, with the early start tied to Nevada Day.
Sheldon Keefe’s Devils are 8-5-0 and sit second in the Metropolitan Division. They’ve won 4 of their L5, although their winning streak ended Wednesday in Colorado.
New Jersey has handled the road reasonably well, but Vegas isn’t offering a friendly farewell.
Ryan Craig has the Golden Knights at 9-4-1, good for second in the Pacific Division. Vegas is 6-2-0 at home and remains one of the tougher clubs to visit.
New Jersey is finishing a 3-game road trip after splitting its first 2 stops. The Devils have shown they can beat quality opponents, but maintaining that standard hasn’t always been easy.
Vegas recently snapped a 3-game skid and will be looking to build on that result. Mark Stone and Jack Eichel continue to provide the leadership and production this lineup needs.
The teams split their 2 meetings last season, with Vegas winning 3-0 and New Jersey answering with a 2-1 shootout victory. Neither game offered much room for offensive mistakes.
Both teams have the talent to make this a competitive afternoon. The challenge will be getting through 60 minutes without handing the opposition unnecessary chances.

New Jersey Devils vs. Vegas Golden Knights Odds & Previous Games
Vegas is the slight moneyline favorite at -115, with New Jersey at -104. The Devils are priced at -265 taking 1.5 goals on the puck line.
The total is 6.5 goals, with the Under favored at -133. It’s a number that gives bettors something to consider beyond picking the winner.
New Jersey beat Dallas 5-1, Los Angeles 3-1, Anaheim 4-1 and Colorado 4-3 before losing the rematch 5-2. The Devils have been productive during this stretch, with several players contributing.
Vegas defeated Ottawa 4-1 after losing 2-1 in overtime to Columbus, 6-2 to St. Louis and 6-2 to Tampa Bay. The Golden Knights previously beat Pittsburgh 6-2.
The Devils have shown more consistent recent results, while Vegas has struggled to string together strong performances. Home ice gives the Golden Knights an advantage worth respecting.
These teams have generally played competitive games in recent meetings. Their contrasting recent form makes the modest moneyline difference understandable.

Golden Knights Stats
Vegas has scored 50 goals through 14 games, averaging 3.57 per contest. Its 416 shots on goal demonstrate how consistently the Golden Knights generate offensive opportunities.
Jack Eichel leads the club with 20 points, including 7 goals and 13 assists. Mark Stone has 8 goals and 8 assists, while Mitch Marner has contributed 13 points.
The Golden Knights have allowed 38 goals, an average of 2.71 per game. Their defensive numbers have remained respectable despite several difficult outings.
Vegas has no shortage of scoring talent, but even a loaded lineup needs to defend occasionally.
Adin Hill has earned 5 wins in 6 appearances. He stopped 25 shots against Ottawa, providing the steady performance Vegas needed.
Carter Hart has contributed 4 wins in 8 appearances but is dealing with an undisclosed injury. His availability remains uncertain heading into Friday.
William Karlsson and Tomas Hertl provide useful scoring depth beyond the top line. Opponents cannot afford to concentrate entirely on Eichel and Stone.
Vegas has converted 25.6% of its power-play opportunities. That production makes discipline especially important for teams facing the Golden Knights.
Devils Stats
New Jersey has scored 43 goals through 13 games, averaging 3.31 per contest. The Devils have also generated 424 shots, giving them one of the league’s more active offenses.
Jack Hughes leads the club with 14 points, while Nico Hischier has scored a team-high 7 goals. Jesper Bratt has contributed 11 points, providing another reliable offensive option.
The Devils have scored 7 power-play goals, converting at 17.5%. Their special teams have room to improve despite the club’s overall scoring success.
New Jersey has allowed 37 goals through 13 games. Keefe’s defense has generally been competitive, although its coverage slipped during the Colorado loss.
Connor Brown scored both goals against the Avalanche. His contribution was encouraging, but the Devils needed more help against a relentless Colorado attack.
Jake Allen has collected 5 wins in 8 appearances. He faced 45 shots Wednesday, making 40 saves despite the defeat.
The recent acquisition of Connor Hellebuyck from Winnipeg has strengthened New Jersey’s goaltending options. The move gives Keefe an accomplished veteran as the season develops.
Devils vs. Golden Knights Goalie Matchup
Hellebuyck is the expected starter for New Jersey, although his assignment remains unconfirmed. He made his Devils debut Tuesday against Dallas.
The veteran stopped 17 of 18 shots in that appearance. He looked comfortable despite joining his new teammates only days earlier.
Allen remains another option following his demanding night in Colorado. New Jersey can choose between two experienced goaltenders.
Vegas is expected to turn to Hill after his strong outing against Ottawa. He has been more effective when the Golden Knights protect the slot and limit rebounds.
Hart’s injury leaves Cameron Whitehead as another available option. Vegas has not officially confirmed its starter for Friday.

Both teams have enough experience in net to handle a difficult opponent. The bigger issue is how well the skaters support their goaltenders.
New Jersey must avoid extended defensive-zone shifts, while Vegas needs better coverage when opponents attack with speed. Neither side can afford careless turnovers near its crease.
New Jersey Devils vs. Vegas Golden Knights bottom line: Both clubs have dangerous scoring depth, but defensive execution and disciplined play should have a major say in Friday’s result.
New Jersey Devils vs. Vegas Golden Knights Hockey Betting Trends
- The Golden Knights have gone 2-3 in their last five games this season.
- New Jersey has won four of their last five games this season.
- In their last five games, Vegas has seen the total go over in three games.
- Also, the Devils have seen the total go under in two of their last five games this season.
- Last season, the Golden Knights had a record of 22-19 in home games.
- Additionally, the Devils finished last season with a 21-20 record in road games.
Devils Golden Knights Free Pick: Under 6.5
Here is my Devils Golden Knights free pick: I’m betting Under 6.5. These clubs have plenty of offensive talent, but that doesn’t mean I’m paying for 7 goals. I like the number more than either side. New Jersey is finishing a 3-game road trip, and Sheldon Keefe has every reason to tighten things up after the Colorado loss. The Devils don’t need to trade chances with Vegas to win this game.
There’s enough firepower on both benches, but nobody’s paying these coaches to organize a shooting gallery.
The Golden Knights are also coming off a much cleaner defensive performance. I expect Ryan Craig to favor controlled possessions over the loose, end-to-end hockey that hurt his club during its losing streak.
The danger is special teams, particularly with Vegas allowing power-play goals too frequently. Stay out of the penalty box, limit second chances, and the Under has a workable path.
I’m not asking for a 1-0 masterpiece.
A competitive game with disciplined coverage and fewer cheap scoring chances will do nicely.
I’ll take the breathing room at 6.5 and back Under 6.5.
