So I hate the Coyotes for reasons that have nothing to do with their players, staff, or fans. But I am going to rip into them a bit in this one.
They are a literal joke of a franchise and I am so tired of the league hierarchy trying to force success in an area that just does not want hockey. Now this morning I read an article about what fellow NHL players think and it was somewhat of a mixed bag with a lot of the former college athletes getting excited for it.
No doubt there is potential for it to be a crazy atmosphere but to have this pro squad playing in a barn with less seats than most junior teams is just embarrassing for the league.
On top of that, despite all the young talent they are accumulating this is still a Tank For Bedard team. They are weak up and down the lineup and oddsshark.com is projecting them as #32 on their season power rankings.
The Jets on the other hand are a different story. They are coming off a season that was considered by many as a let down for how talented this roster is and supposedly there was turmoil in the dressing room according to some reports.
The Jets are .500 heading into this one and have some quality wins over teams like Colorado and St. Louis. So to think they could mix up the Coyotes ain’t unrealistic at all.
You probably know where I’m heading with this but despite that, let’s dig a little deeper.
Winnipeg Jets
One advantage that does land in favour of the Coyotes in this one is that tonight the Jets are playing in Los Angeles and will be getting on the bus immediately after the game to make the trek to Arizona.
The Jets could very well come out with some noodle legs in this one and the Yotes can pounce with their speed.
The Jets are also not scoring a ton they leave a lot of meat on the bone but they have a balanced attack and play tight as hell defensively. They also rarely take penalties so they are incredibly disciplined which makes this squad frustrating to play against.
Another problem however is that their backup, David Rittich is expected to get the start who has horrendous numbers to start the season and yet they are still better than who is expected for the Coyotes which we’ll get into.
This game is a nightmare.
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes are dead last in the NHL in goals allowed per game with 4.83 expected. This roster up and down just lacks any significant needle movers, for now at least.
The future is bright for this bunch down the road, the prospect cupboard is full and if they can get a deal done with the city for a legit arena in the right area it will become a destination.
But for now, they will be losing games to everyone in the NHL not just good teams.

Anytime I get a puck line against the Yotes that pays like this I am gonna take it this season. I understand it’s a lot of goals to cover for a team that isn’t scoring many at the moment so I understand if you have reservations about this pick.
But this defence is bad, they give up shots galore they let in goals galore and the Jets just aren’t nearly as bad on the other side in terms of tangible numbers or talent paper.
