2026 NHL Handicapping – Chicago Blackhawks vs Florida Panthers
Here’s why I’m backing an UNDER bet below in my Blackhawks Panthers free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Blackhawks vs. Panthers Gameday
The Chicago Blackhawks visit the Florida Panthers on Wednesday, November 4, at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET on TNT.
Chicago enters at 4-10-1 under Jeff Blashill, having dropped three straight games. The Blackhawks are also 0-5-1 away from home, and their first stop on this road trip isn’t particularly welcoming.
Chicago needs its first road win, and Florida isn’t volunteering to make life easier.
The Blackhawks remain near the bottom of the Western Conference standings. Their younger players have offered encouraging moments, but consistency remains a serious problem.
Florida stands at 8-5-2 under Paul Maurice.
The Panthers have won three of their last four games despite missing important forwards. Monday’s loss to Detroit interrupted that run, although Florida has been considerably more competitive than Chicago.
Florida already defeated the Blackhawks in Chicago on October 25. The Panthers now get the return meeting at home, where they’ve gone 3-1-0.
Chicago needs a complete performance rather than another promising stretch followed by defensive mistakes. Florida has enough experience to punish those lapses, even with several regulars unavailable.

Chicago lost 5-2 to Colorado, 5-4 in overtime to Boston and 4-1 to Detroit. The Blackhawks also fell 3-2 against Florida, with their lone recent victory coming against Los Angeles, 2-1.
The Panthers lost 5-3 to Detroit after defeating Winnipeg twice, 5-2 and 5-1. Florida also beat Chicago during that stretch, following an earlier 4-0 loss to Pittsburgh.
Florida won both meetings during the 2025-26 regular season. Chicago split the two-game series the previous year, but the Panthers have controlled the more recent matchups.
Wednesday marks their second and final regular-season meeting in 2026-27.
Chicago has struggled to produce consistent offense, while Florida has been more effective at creating scoring opportunities. The difference in results explains why bookmakers have installed the Panthers as substantial favorites.

Panthers Stats
Florida has scored 47 goals through 15 games, averaging slightly more than three per contest. The Panthers have recorded 78 assists and generated 430 shots on goal, providing steady offensive pressure.
The power play has produced 16 goals, giving Maurice another way to create scoring chances. Opponents can’t afford careless penalties against this group.
Matthew Tkachuk leads Florida with 21 points, including 17 assists. Brady Tkachuk, Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart have each scored eight goals, spreading the finishing responsibilities across the lineup.
Seth Jones has contributed 18 points from the blue line. His offensive production has become especially valuable with the Panthers dealing with injuries.
Florida has allowed 44 goals, averaging fewer than three against per game. The Panthers also surrender approximately 24 shots per contest, demonstrating their ability to limit opponents’ opportunities.
The Panthers lead the league with 490 hits but have recorded only 161 blocked shots. Their defensive approach emphasizes pressure, possession and disrupting opponents before shots develop.
Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand remain unavailable, along with Jonah Gadjovich. Their absences have reduced Florida’s forward depth, but the remaining regulars have continued producing.
Jacob Markstrom and Akira Schmid have shared the goaltending workload. Neither is being treated as Wednesday’s confirmed starter.
Blackhawks Stats
Chicago has scored 33 goals through 15 games, averaging only 2.2 per contest. The Blackhawks have also managed just 346 shots on goal, ranking near the bottom of the NHL in offensive production.
Connor Bedard has ten points through nine appearances. His creativity remains important to an attack that has struggled to generate enough dangerous chances.
Roman Kantserov leads Chicago with six goals. The rookie has been one of the team’s more encouraging offensive contributors despite the difficult start.
Defensively, Chicago has surrendered 58 goals, nearly four per game. That puts enormous pressure on its forwards to compensate for mistakes at the other end.
Chicago’s young talent can create opportunities, but defensive breakdowns keep undoing the good work.
Opponents are averaging approximately 30 shots per game against the Blackhawks. Chicago has spent too much time defending and hasn’t consistently cleared the puck from dangerous areas.
Spencer Knight has carried a substantial workload, although the defensive support in front of him has been inconsistent. The Blackhawks need better positioning and cleaner exits regardless of their starting goalie.
Patrick Kane is unavailable after suffering an upper-body injury against Colorado. Defenseman Bowen Byram is also sidelined, leaving Chicago without another important regular.
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Florida Panthers bottom line: Florida has the stronger possession game and more dependable defensive structure, while Chicago must find a way to compete without exposing its vulnerable blue line.
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Florida Panthers Hockey Betting Trends

Blackhawks Panthers Free Pick: Under 5.5
Here is my Blackhawks Panthers free pick: I’m taking Under 5.5. Florida should have the territorial advantage, but that doesn’t mean the Panthers need to turn this into a scoring contest. I’m betting on a controlled game rather than another wild night.
Chicago has stayed under in three of its last five games. The Blackhawks also lack the offensive depth to consistently punish teams that keep their defensive coverage organized, especially with Patrick Kane unavailable.
I’m betting on Florida’s discipline, not asking Chicago to suddenly discover a dangerous offense.
The Panthers have enough experience to protect a lead without trading chances. If they get ahead, I expect them to make Chicago work through the neutral zone rather than give away odd-man rushes.
The danger is Florida’s power play or a couple of ugly Chicago turnovers turning this into a blowout. At 5.5, there’s not much room for generosity.
Give me a game where Florida controls possession, Chicago struggles to finish, and the third period doesn’t become a shooting gallery.
That’s the setup I’m buying.
My bet is Under 5.5.
