2026 NHL Handicapping – San Jose Sharks vs Los Angeles Kings
Here’s why I’m backing a Los Angeles ML bet below in my Sharks Kings free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Sharks vs. Kings Gameday
The San Jose Sharks visit the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, November 4, for a Pacific Division matchup at Crypto.com Arena. Puck drop is 10:00 PM ET, with TNT carrying the game.
San Jose enters at 7-8-1 under Ryan Warsofsky. The Sharks have lost two straight and are struggling to establish any offensive rhythm.
Neither California club is exactly setting the standings on fire, but somebody gets two points tonight.
The Sharks have shown flashes of promise this season. Turning those stretches into consistent performances has been another story.
Los Angeles sits at 4-7-2 under Peter Laviolette.
The Kings opened the season poorly and have yet to put together a sustained recovery. Their latest setback against Buffalo followed an impressive comeback against Ottawa, which tells you plenty about their consistency.
San Jose won the first meeting between these teams in October. The Kings now have an opportunity to answer on home ice, where their early results have been disappointing.
Both clubs need to start collecting points before the Pacific Division standings become a bigger problem. There’s no shortage of urgency here.

San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings Odds & Previous Games
Los Angeles is the -153 moneyline favorite, while San Jose returns +131. The Sharks are listed at +1.5 on the puck line at -191, giving bettors an alternative to the outright winner.
San Jose has dropped three of its last four, losing to Calgary 2-1, Ottawa 5-1 and Buffalo 2-0. The lone victory came against Vancouver, 3-2.
The Kings have beaten Ottawa 6-5 and the Rangers 6-3 during their recent stretch. Losses to Buffalo 3-2, Chicago 2-1 and New Jersey 3-1 have prevented them from building momentum.
The Sharks took the first meeting this season with a 5-4 overtime victory. San Jose found a way to finish that game, something it has struggled to do lately.
Last season’s series was evenly split, with each team winning twice. Los Angeles covered the puck line in all four meetings.
These rivals have produced some entertaining offensive games, but neither side has established much consistency entering Wednesday. That makes the price worth examining carefully.

Kings Stats
Los Angeles has scored 36 goals through 13 games, averaging 2.77 per contest. The Kings have allowed 45, leaving them with a negative goal differential despite some encouraging offensive performances.
Artemi Panarin leads the attack with eight goals and 13 points. His ability to create scoring opportunities remains essential, particularly with several forwards unavailable.
Brandt Clarke has contributed 10 points and 30 blocked shots. Alex Laferriere brings a physical presence along the boards, helping Los Angeles compete for possession.
The Kings have struggled badly while shorthanded. Their penalty kill has operated at only 61.5%, making discipline a serious concern.
Los Angeles has also had difficulty converting offensive pressure into consistent results. Laviolette needs stronger execution across all three periods rather than another brief scoring explosion.
Kevin Fiala and Mats Zuccarello remain sidelined, while Adrian Kempe is expected to return. Clarke has resumed practicing, giving the Kings some encouragement on the injury front.
Sharks Stats
San Jose has scored 42 goals in 16 games, averaging 2.63 per contest. The Sharks have allowed 54, and that negative differential reflects their difficulties at both ends of the ice.
The power play has converted 21.8% of its opportunities. That unit remains one of San Jose’s better offensive weapons.
Macklin Celebrini leads the Sharks with 16 points through 14 games. He’s gone six straight without a goal, an unusually quiet stretch for one of the club’s most dangerous players.
Will Smith has contributed 10 points, including six goals. San Jose needs its young forwards creating more quality opportunities rather than settling for shots from the perimeter.
The Sharks have enough young talent to cause trouble, but potential doesn’t put goals on the scoreboard.
Jacob Trouba has provided a physical presence with 32 hits and 31 blocked shots. His work along the boards and in front of the net remains important.
San Jose has also struggled to establish a dependable forecheck. Too many possessions end before the Sharks can create sustained offensive-zone pressure.
Yaroslav Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic have shared goaltending responsibilities. Neither starting assignment should be treated as confirmed without a game-day announcement.
San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings bottom line: The Kings have an opportunity to capitalize on San Jose’s scoring problems, provided they stay disciplined and avoid another uneven performance.
San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings Hockey Betting Trends
- Los Angeles has gone 2-3 in their last five games.
- Also, in their last five games, the Kings have scored an average of 3.2 goals per game.
- The Sharks have lost four out of their last five games.
- San Jose has been held to one goal in three of their last five games.
- During their last five outings, the Sharks have allowed an average of 3.4 goals per game.
- Additionally, the Kings have seen the total go over in two of their last five games.
Sharks Kings Free Pick: Kings ML -153
Here is my Sharks Kings free pick: I’m backing Los Angeles Kings ML -153. Neither club has been particularly trustworthy, but San Jose’s scoring drought gives Los Angeles an opportunity to take control without needing its best offensive performance.
The Sharks have managed only five goals in their last four games, losing three of them. That’s a tough way to make a living on the road, especially against an opponent that has shown it can generate offense when its top players get involved.
I’m not paying -153 for perfection; I’m paying for the better opportunity to collect two points.
The Kings have also had three days between games, while San Jose played Monday. That extra preparation matters for a struggling home team looking to tighten its defensive coverage and get its forecheck established early.
Los Angeles has its own problems, particularly on the penalty kill. The Kings cannot afford to spend the evening handing San Jose power-play opportunities, because that’s one area where the Sharks can make them pay.
Still, I see the Kings controlling enough of the five-on-five play to get this done.
The price isn’t cheap, but the matchup is there for Los Angeles to exploit.
I’m laying it with Los Angeles Kings ML -153.
